Description[]

The AMC Javelin AMX is a performance-oriented version of the AMC Javelin, introduced in 1971; it was spun off from the previous AMX line of two-door coupes to become a trim level of the Javelin. It was advertised as "the closest thing you can buy to a Trans Am champion"; true to its name, the Javelin also went Trans Am racing, most notably by Penske Racing and driven by road course specialists Mark Donohue and George Follmer; other notable drivers included Vic Elford, Peter Revson and Roy Woods. The Javelin would end up becoming a three-time champion in the series, winning the 1971, 1972 and 1976 Trans Am championships.
