'73 Ford Falcon XB

Description[]

The '73 Ford Falcon XB is a Sports coupe produced by Ford's Australian division starting in late 1973. The XB Falcon is often considered to be one of Australia's most prominent classic cars and was the flagship car in the Mad Max film series from the late 1970s and the 1980s. Exactly 949 GT 351 Coupe versions rolled off the assembly lines, making the XB GT coupe exceedingly rare.

The Hot Wheels casting portrays the rare 1973 GT 351 Coupe of the XB Falcon, which was only produced from September to approximately December of 1973.

Specialty: With fat muscular lines, Ford V8 engine and front spoiler and hood scoops, this Australian muscle car was made for down under fuels.

Trivia[]

For the 2010 First Release of this casting, Hot Wheels decked the Falcon GT out in it's real-life color scheme of 'Yellow Blaze' with black 'paint-outs'. For it's second release, it was 'Apollo Blue' with silver 'paint-outs'. Of the 2899 XB GT's that rolled off the production line between 1973 and 1976, 496 were Yellow Blaze and 178 were Apollo Blue.

Unlike the Hot Wheels version, the XB GT had its bumper bars painted in the body color. Chrome bumper bars were only on other XB Falcon models.
