Description[]
The Ford Torino was a muscle car produced by Ford from 1968 to 1976. 1976 was the final year for the Torino lineup, consisting of nine separate models in two- and four-door formats. No styling changes were made to the Torino from 1974 onwards. 193,096 were produced for 1976.
The Torino was also selected as a model for use in the television show Starsky & Hutch; the car was chosen as it was a "flashy specialty car" that could be driven by the main characters, with the cars supplied directly from Ford via their Studio-TV Car Loan Program. Bright red 1975/1976 Gran Torinos were used for the series, with large white vector stripes "to make the car less mundane". With the show a success, Ford decided to produce 1,000 replicas of the Starsky & Hutch cars in 1976.
