Description[]
The 1971 De Tomaso Mangusta is a Hot Wheels casting which debuted in 2021 as a RLC Exclusive model. It features opening rear hatches with a detailed engine underneath. This casting was initially intended to be released in 2020, but was delayed to 2021.
The casting was based on a Mangusta that designer Brendon Vetuskey saw in a book that his grandmother bought for him as a child. He stated he wanted to bring the Mangusta into the limelight as the car had been largely overshadowed by its successor the Pantera and that designing the gullwing engine hatches was a challenge. The rear tire was tooled up specially for this model and is 1mm larger in diameter than the front.
