Description

The 1971 Dodge Charger was characterized by a new split grille and more rounded "fuselage" bodystyle. The hidden headlights were now optional. A rear spoiler and a "Ramcharger" hood were new options. This hood featured a pop-up scoop mounted above the air cleaner controlled by a vacuum switch under the dash. The 1971 model year was also the last for the 440 Six-Pack engine (440 cu or 7.2 L), which could still be mated to a Hurst 4-speed transmission, as well as the automatic. In the Super Bee's final year, the 340 became a $44 (€40) option over the standard, low-compression 383. The 340 had three two-barrel carburetors and a rating of 390 hp (290 kW).

This die-cast model is an obviously 'tooned version of the classic muscle car and was part of the 2005 Torpedoes subseries. The Torpedo style was a new cartoon style introduced in 2005 and depicts a car in a skinny, Torpedo-like shape with outboard wheels. These unique vehicles perform well on track sets but the exposed wheels make them more susceptible to bending axles. They are better suited for gravity-driven tracks than Wall Tracks or tracks with a Booster.
