The BMW M5 is the high-performance version of the BMW 5 Series, produced since 1984. The sixth generation of the M5, styled by Seungmo Lim and internally designated the F90, was based on the G30 generation of the 5 Series and entered production in 2017. Introduced at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, the F90 M5 is the first M5 to feature an all-wheel drive system. It is powered by the same 4.4L S63 twin-turbocharged V8 as its predecessor, now producing 591 horsepower and mated to an 8-speed ZF GA8HP75Z automatic. Production ended in 2023 to be replaced by a new generation of M5.
