Attack Pack was a line of monstrous trucks and vehicles produced from 1992 to 1994. The main gimmick of these vehicles was their transforming action when they were pressed down, causing them to open their mouths or perform other actions. They were even available as McDonalds Happy Meal toys, as an option to Barbie dolls. Several of the Attack Pack vehicles are easy to identify, since they are marked "Attack Pack", and some even "Hot Wheels" and also have a round symbol (except for the original series of cars and the repaints of those, and the Big Ones and Biggest Ones) with a hand doing a thumbs up or a scary face with fangs, representing the Heroic Cat Pack and Evil Rat Pack respectively. The series was later succeeded by the Road Beasts line.
Narrative[]
The series focuses on two teams in a rainforest, the Heroic Cat Pack and the Evil Rat Pack, who aim to get a newly-discovered energy source promising clean and safe energy for all. Focusing on Capt. Bob Catxel, nicknamed "Slash", he sets out to preserve the rainforest with his team and thwarting the efforts of the Evil Rat Pack, led by Rip, who aim to destroy it to get the energy source.
Both teams are subsequently attacked by a mysterious group of beasts, giving both of them the powers of "molecule morphing", allowing vehicles to transform into animal-vehicle hybrids, featuring the "strength of the beasts", "power of their trucks" and "the intelligence of man". The teams are assisted by the "Big Ones" and the "Biggest Ones", significantly larger underlings working under Slash and Rip, as well as the Growlers, other underlings used for intimidation.
Some time later, both teams enlist the help of the Battle Birds, aircraft also endowed with the "molecule morph" abilities, aiding both teams in their pursuit of the energy source. Soon after, a number of unidentified flying objects also seeking this energy source are also endowed with these "molecule morph" abilities and crash land in the rainforest; both teams find these objects and reprogram them for their purpose, and they are christened Alien Invaders. The Alien Invaders allied with the Heroic Cat Pack are programmed to defend the stratosphere from rogue alien attacks, while the Alien Invaders allied with the Evil Rat Pack are programmed to burn the ozone layer, in theory razing the rainforest and making it easier for them to find the energy source.
The fighting by the Heroic Cat Pack and Evil Rat Pack subsequently disrupts a forcefield in an "ancient, undiscovered area" of the rainforest, altering the environment permanently and resulting in large military vehicles which are part dinosaur. These are subsequently recruited by both packs to assist in their efforts. An additional three vehicles, consisting of two standard Attack Pack members and one Growler, each join the team for their efforts in addition to the dinosaurs.
