Description[]

The BMW 635CSi is a high-end version of the BMW E24 6 Series, introduced in 1978. Designed by Paul Bracq, the 635CSi uses a 3.4L M90 inline-6 making 215 horsepower although engines for the vehicle were upgraded over its lifespan. The 635CSi acted as the replacement for the older 633CSi. Production of the 635CSi ended in 1989 along with E24 production. BMW also took the 635CSi racing, homologated for Group A competition and competing in a number of touring car championships around the world from 1981 to 1985; the cars raced in championships such as the DTM, Australian Touring Car Championship and AMSCAR but it was the European Touring Car Championship where they were most well known. A highly successful car, the 635CSi won 16 titles and a number of major race wins. About 50 chassis were produced.

This casting depicts a racing 635CSi developed for the Australian Touring Car Championship as campaigned by JPS Team BMW.

Pound the pavement with one of the 1980s most iconic BMW's. The M88 3.5L inline six engine made this wide-bodied 635 CSi a total beast on the racetrack while its lowered front chin gave it a distinguished, yet aerodynamic appearance.
