Description[]
When the premium Pro Racing series debuted in 1997, this basic series was also issued to supplement it. Cars in this series featured a few cost saving measures compared to more expensive alternative, such as plastic wheels and bases, and a few less details. While the Premium castings where made for display purposes, the Basic line was meant for the track. This series was also used for commemorative blisters, baggie promos, and even MLB Team Promotions until the mid 2000s.
