Robert B. Lovejoy was a Hot Wheels designer who designed Hot Wheels from 1971 to 1973. He was hired alongside Larry Wood and Paul Tam as one of their earliest designers; he was most known for his work on the RRRumblers. Outside of work, Lovejoy was an aircraft enthusiast, building his own aircraft and gliders, most notably the Quicksilver; after he left Mattel he turned to solely developing aircraft and hang gliders. By 1980, he had an ultralight aircraft design penned out; he tested the aircraft in late 1982, but due to a control failure the aircraft crashed and he was unfortunately killed in the process.
