Description[]
The Chevrolet Suburban is a series of vehicles produced by the Chevrolet division of General Motors; originally used for a station wagon design, the Suburban would later morph to become a full-sized SUV design, with the initial station wagon design being considered a progenitor to modern SUVs. The Suburban nameplate has been used since the 1935 model year (apart from a short break in between due to World War II), making it the longest running car nameplate for any manufacturer. The Suburban is traditionally one of GM's most profitable models and to this day still shares chassis and mechanical commonality with GM trucks. It has received many names over its lifespan, including being marketed as the GMC Yukon XL and Cadillac Escalade ESV.
The eighth-generation Suburban, introduced in 1992, was based on the GMT400 platform and styled by Chuck Jordan. It was alternatively marketed as a GMC and Holden under the same name, the latter being marketed in Australia and New Zealand. The base engine was a 5.7L L05 V8. This generation of Suburban was facelifted in 1994 and discontinued in 1999 although production continued until 2001 in Australia.
