Dodge is an American brand that was founded by the Dodge brothers, Horace Elgin Dodge and John Francis Dodge, in the early 1900s, 1914 being the first year that they sold automobiles under the Dodge Brothers name. Both men died in 1920, and the company was eventually sold to Chrysler in 1928. Since then Dodge has served as Chrysler’s mid range brand, with a history in performance vehicles. Dodge also has a history with full size trucks and passenger cars; their Ram division was separated along with the Viper, as distinct sub-brands in 2011. Today, Dodge builds an inline-six Challenger, and the mid-size Durango suv. Ram builds a full-size pickup, with a compact and mid-size on the way. The first Hot Wheels Dodge casting, the Custom Charger, was made in 1968.
