Description[]
The EcoJet is a one-off concept sports car created specifically for comedian Jay Leno. Created as a collaboration between Leno, General Motors, Honeywell, Alcoa and BASF, the car uses a Honeywell LTS101 gas turbine mated to a 4-speed automatic transaxle from a Corvette C5. The turbine engine runs on biodiesel and produces 650 BHP, releasing exhaust upwards from two ports on the rear deck. The car features a hydroformed aluminum chassis from a Corvette Z06 with carbon fiber bodywork, Alcantara upholstery, an Azentek in-car computer and two separate fuel tanks; one containing kerosene and the other soybean oil. The car's basic design was derived from a scribble Leno made on a napkin.
The base of the casting reads Eco Jet. In development this casting was referred to as the Jay Leno Eco-Jet.
