Farbs (also formatted as FARBs) was a very short-lived series of tongue-in-cheek vehicles produced in 1972. Advertised as "Fantastic Car Kooks", these were a series of cartoonish "people" cars, with people acting as the bodies and wheels attached to their arms and legs. The series was the brainchild of independent toy designer Eddy Goldfarb; the series was named after Goldfarb as tribute. While the series was manufactured by Mattel and feature wheels also used on Hot Wheels products these were not officially branded as Hot Wheels products.
Only a single series of four cars were produced; two more, named Bye-A-Nose and Wyndan Cheeks, were slated to be produced but never got past prototyping. This series was engineered by Bob Rosas.

Back of packaging[]
The back of the packaging for the Farbs features numerous tongue-in-cheek descriptions:
Fantastic car kooks! Smile alot 'n make 'em your friends.
Follow their noses...tickle their toes
down ticklish Hot Wheels® track!
Hit 'em from behind with your Big Belter® booster!
HOW TO SEE Farbs: OPEN YOUR EYES.
Look for their fine features: Magnificent "mag" wheels • Big heads
• Warm hearts • Cold feet • Split personalities • Nice nervous systems
• Strained muscles • Beautiful boots
Farbs GO BANANAS. GET THE WHOLE BUNCH. (TAKE ONE TO LUNCH)
HOW TO CARE FOR Farbs. Pet 'em. Push 'em. Spoil 'em. Pat their engines. Spin their wheels.
Smile at them. BUT—don't feed them oil! Oil makes them unhappy. And that will make you unhappy.
Sometimes Farbs get a little out of joint. If their axles need adjusting, carefully bend wheels back into
position — do not pull out. OUCH!
Farbs are sensitive. Please—do not use them with Rod Runner® or Super-Charger® boosters.

And remember, never forget them!
