Description

Ferrari 312P was introduced in the 1970 Hot Wheels line-up. Ferrari built a 3000cc prototype in 1969, the 312 P  this was a prototype car, that did not seem to last long in the open cockpit design. Although Ferrari closed the cockpit, Mattel never did, they even got rid of the windshield later in the cars life.This Model does have a  windshield. This model would not be imported from Italy but was imported from Hong Kong and the USA. It has been found with white interior, generally it has black though. Another interesting variation, the body lines (ie: door, cabin area) are found with protruding out from body or recessed into the body.  Sticker sheet only came with some cars and others the stickers were applied at factory. The stickers are round white with #60 and the Ferrari logo prancing stallion.

Hong Kong Versions

The Ferrari 312P has come out in the following 1/64 scale Hong Kong versions:

Notes:Blue tinted windshield, Gloss black on very back panel, Mesh vents on the rear hood intakes, Hong Kong at rear of base.

The Hong Kong cars were made from 3 different molds: normal door lines, raised door lines, and half or missing door lines. Speculation is the normal door line mold was used first, then the half door line, and finished with the raised door line.  All 3 variations have been found in most colors except for olive, enamel red, brown, copper, and pink.

USA Versions

The Ferrari 312P has come out in the following 1/64 scale USA versions:

Notes: Clear window, Gloss black tail/rear, Smooth vents on rear hood intakes, US on base.

Aqua is incredibly tough to find.  Most US Aqua cars listed are actually green cars that have faded to an aqua.  To tell if it is a faded aqua, look at the under side of the wheel wells.  This area is not exposed to sunlight (or whatever causes the cars to fade) and will still be green.
