Description[]

Fireball Raceway is a long-running large motorized Hot Wheels set. The set features cars launching around a meteor and uses a unique high-powered three-way booster which launches cars into a series of complex intersecting loops. The set touts nine crash zones (three in the booster, six in the loops) and the exploding meteor in the middle of the set. The meteor piece consists of two halves with a rubber band in the middle causing the meteor to explode; this is triggered by a three-pronged orange piece which pushes up against the meteor, causing the pieces to fly. The meteor rests on a pole in the middle of the set. The initial release of the set features a "Crash Catcher Net" to catch cars as they crashed by rebounding them off the net; this was removed in all subsequent versions and is also detrimental to the track's performance. The booster requires 4 "D"-sized batteries.

An associated 5-pack was also released with this set. The set has been re-released numerous times, with releases since 2009 acting as a deluxe bundle with 5 cars; the set was first re-released in 2006 under the name Fireball, and then in 2009 under its original name. In 2018, the set was re-released as Fireball Crash under the 50th Anniversary Throwback Series, featuring an improved booster and additional safety features.
