Gran Toros

Gran Toros is an early line of 1/43 scale Hot Wheels manufactured by Mebetoys for Mattel from 1970 to 1973. The line was created by Mattel after acquiring Mebetoys and introduced to the American market in 1970 as a larger scale version of the standard Hot Wheels lineup; the line was given the name of Sputafuoco (lit. "fire-breathing") and Heisse Räder Supergroß (lit. "Hot Wheels Super Big") in Italy and Germany respectively.

Each of the models feature intricately designed parts and movable parts. All castings were made in Italy by Mebetoys; many of the models in this series were created by Mebetoys specifically for this line, while others were modified from older Mebetoys models. After the discontinuation of the line, some Gran Toros models were modified for use in the Mebetoys line, usually through the addition of disc-style plastic wheels for cost-cutting.
