The Hi-Po Hauler is a Hot Wheels vehicle which debuted in 2018 as an RLC Exclusive. It is based on the real-life Hi-Po Hauler, a modified Ford Econoline Pickup created by the members of the 'Gas Monkey Garage' on the television show Fast & Loud.
The Hot Wheels version was designed by Brendon Vetuskey, and while it appears to be based on the '60s Ford Econoline Pickup casting, it features a completely different basic casting design. Changes include a stretched wheelbase, a slightly longer front portion, single seat and three-spoke steering wheel interior with chrome pedals which are part of the chassis, metal rear truck bed with shut offs through the frame rails to the ground, radiator underneath the vehicle on the base, chrome headlamp bezels which serve as latches from the chassis (no spin post in front) and the enormous engine in the rear truck bed.
Brendon spent three days in Dallas helping to build the real Hi-Po Hauler with Aaron Kaufmann and his team while filming the show. Brendon fabricated the radiator mounting brackets and rear sway bar mounting brackets and welded them to the chassis. Both the radiator and rear sway bar details are visible on this casting.
The base of the casting reads Custom Econoline Pickup.
