Description[]
The Dallara IR-05 is an open-wheel formula racing car designed by Dallara for use in the IndyCar Series, used from 2005 to 2011. It is an update of the Dallara IR-03/04 chassis, being given significant aerodynamic changes compared to the previous chassis. Initially powered by V8 engines manufactured by Chevrolet, Honda and Toyota among other manufacturers, by 2007 virtually all competitors were using Honda Indy V8s. The car was withdrawn from use after the 2011 reason and replaced with a new chassis, the DW12.
This casting features two different body variations reflecting the different aero kits used on the car, those being the Oval Course aero kit and the Road Course aero kit, with the Road Course aero kit introduced for 2010 releases. An altered version of the casting was created for the mainline in 2012.
