Description[]
Hot Wheels was a thirty-minute Saturday morning animated series broadcast on ABC Radio television stations from 6 September 1969 to 4 September 1971. Due to multiple FCC complaints, the opening of the series and any references or usage of the phrase “Hot Wheels” were deemed commercial advertising by 1971. This led ABC to drop the show after two seasons (thirty-four episodes).
Plot[]
The show followed Jack "Rabbit" Wheeler, leader of the Hot Wheels Racing Club at Metro City High School. In each episode, the Hot Wheels Racing Club would race against Dexter's Demons, a rival club run by the reckless Dexter Carter.
Cast[]
Albert Brooks, who performed the voices of Mickey Barnes and Kip Chogi, went on to become a well-known writer, director and actor. Brooks wrote and directed Modern Romance, Lost in America and Defending Your Life, and he was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in the 1987 film Broadcast News. Hot Wheels was his first credited acting role.
Casey Kasem, who played Dexter Carter and Tank Mallory, has hosted a series of "American Top 40" radio shows since 1970, and was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 1992. He is also well-known for playing Shaggy in the Scooby-Doo cartoons.
