Hot Wheels Conventions are events sponsored by Mattel to invite Hot Wheels collectors to meet in one place over one or more days to expose their collections, trade or sell items, and promote discussions around their Hot Wheels Collections. In the events, staff from Mattel can be present to contact collectors and offer lectures. Each event offers one or more exclusive, limited-edition castings to mark the event.
There are two official Hot Wheels Conventions in the USA: The Annual Hot Wheels Nationals Convention held in cities across the US in the spring since 2001, and The Annual Hot Wheels Collectors Convention in California cities in the fall since 1987.
In 2008, Mattel started Hot Wheels Conventions out of the USA, starting with Mexico Hot Wheels Collectors Convention and Brazil Hot Wheels Convention. The first edition of Japan Hot Wheels Convention are scheduled for December 2010.
