Hot Wheels Factory or Car Factory or Car Maker set is the name of many Track sets that have been used in various years. As the name suggests, these sets are used to create your own Hot Wheels car. The sets usually come with a made chassis that you put in a mold. Using an Injection Molding process and letting the cars cool down result in your own car that you can customize. The Sets are the same concept through the years with certain differences within the years.
1970[]
The Original Factory back in the Redline era, the Hot Wheels Factory, was released in 1970. The vehicles actually had names on the base. The cars also look like the Redline era cars to come out of the time, but modified and with different names

1980 Master Caster[]
Using the same technology, Mattel created the Master Caster, a set of toys that included mold to mold material into one of many possibilities. In 1980 they created one that made toy cars. Now even though the toy was Mattel own and a separate line from Hot Wheels, the toy uses Hot Wheels BW wheels, and some of the molds resemble Hot Wheel castings such as Formula 5000 & El Rey Special.
2001[]
The Car Factory was released in 2001 with the molds of Muscle Tone and Seared Tuner

2013/ 2014[]
The Car Maker (#Y9172) was a playset set that allows you to design and create your own Hot Wheels car, using wax sticks that you insert into the machine and inject into molds to create a body that fits into the included bases. The machine was designed by Julian Payne.
Refill and Mold Packs were also sold alongside the Car Maker. Mold Packs included two additional molds, two bases and refill sticks. The bases and molds included in the Mold Packs were often additional castings not originally included with the Car Maker. Refill packs only included five wax sticks of various colors.
A 2014 version of the set was released as the same set, but under the HW Workshop Series line.
