Hot Wheels Skate is a series of miniature skateboards (fingerboards) and playsets introduced in 2022. The line was created as a collaboration with renowned vert and street skateboarder Tony Hawk, aiming to bring a new toy to market and help expand access to community skateparks as part of Hawk's The Skatepark Project.
Fingerboards are included in every playset and feature multiple styles of boards, usually with some sort of theming to Birdhouse, Hawk's brand of skateboards. The boards may also be purchased singly, in packs of four or in a special pack including an exclusive Hot Wheels car. Each pack also comes with miniature sneakers; these clip onto the board and aid those trying to master fingerboard tricks. The graphics style offered by this series is in a cartoonish style reminiscent of graffiti, in an attempt to emulate the environment of most skateparks. The series also features a "theme song" titled Drop in to Hot Wheels, used as background music for commercials in the series.
This series was developed by Neal Smith, with graphics by Mario Godoy, Jeremy Cox and Mike Vasquez; the series had been worked on since 2020 in "secrecy". This is not the first skating-themed Hot Wheels series; the Skate Freaks series from 2007 precedes it, although the premise of both series is very different and this is not meant to be a successor to that series.
