Description[]
It is based on Lola T97/00 from the 1997 CART season, driven by the Brazilian André Ribeiro by the Tasman Motorsport team, having reached 14th position at the end of the 1997 season. This chassis had aerodynamic problems due to a calibration error of the Cranfield test wind tunnel and that had been used by Lola for a long time. In the 1998 CART season, only the Davis Racing team continued with Lola (T98/00), most of the other teams migrated to Reynard chassis.
This model also served as the basis for the T97/30 of the 1998 F1 MasterCard Lola team, but with the team's failure to participate in its first official race, where it did not qualify for the starting grid the sponsor withdrew just before the second race and Lola lasted only 34 days in F1.
According to what is presented on the Hot Wheels card, it would be a preview for the 1998 season of CART, which did not materialize because the Tasman Motorsport team used Reynard 98i chassis piloted by Brazilian debutant Tony Kanaan this year.
