In the 1990s, Hot Wheels collecting was staring to flourish. The kids who collected Hot Wheels back in the Redline era are now adults trying to collect every car. It wasn't until the 1990's that Hot Wheels would release special Limited Edition cars that had a much limited release than the usual mainline car. One could say this was a precursor to the Treasure Hunt cars.
The name of these cars is a bit confusing since most of them simply say "Limited Edition", then "Limited RCN Collectors Edition" and finally "M&D Toys Limited Edition". "M&D Toys" means Michael Strauss (author of the Tomart's Price Guide Exclusives) & Diane Strauss (his wife and editor of the HW Newsletter). And just like any set/series, these cars have a list on the back of the Blister that list more cars as time went on, grouping all these cars below:
