On August 19, 2008, at Bentwaters Parks, the Mazda Furai caught on fire while driving on the track. Mazda kept this a secret for 7 years until they ultimately gave Charlie Turner from Top Gear Magazine permission to publish his first-hand account of the Mazda Furai catching fire and burning to a crisp.

The Mazda Furai (Japanese:マツダ・風籟) was a concept car manufactured by Mazda. The Furai, meaning "sound of the wind", was powered by a new generation 3-rotor Wankel engine that put out 450 brake horsepower (340 kW).
