The car was driven by Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. The car is considered an improvement over its predecessor, the W14, scoring four race victories (2 each), 4 pole positions (all Russell), 4 fastest laps (2 each) and 9 podiums. The team would finish 4th in the standings with 468 points.
