Description[]

The Chevrolet Monte Carlo Stocker is a 1/24 scale model of the Chevrolet Monte Carlo Stocker which came out in 1998 and stopped in 1999 when Hot Wheels and NASCAR moved onto a New Chevy Stock car; the 2000 Monte Carlo Stocker.

Most cars had a 1/64 version of the same variant, but some where never in a 1/64 variant as noted...unless it's a highly rare unfounded variant!

Legends Prototype[]

It makes sense that when Hot Wheels got the rights to make NASCARs in the Pro Racing line starting in 1997 they wanted to make models of all sizes per stock car. But it wasn't until 1998 that they released the 1/24 scale models. But it was possible that the casting could've arrived a year earlier in very highly details with many casting pieces. Instead of the production model which has a solid body and solid base.

Luckily these images prove that one was in the works and close for production. There is two theories of what this car could've appeared in:

  • It could have been the Terry Labonte #5 Kellogg's car as a 1/64 highly detailed version of the car was made in the Legends series. This is the variant that might possibly exists but is highly rare.
  • A close picture of a model driver (in black) in the car suggested maybe it would be in the short-lived Legends to Life series with Terry Labonte as that series had alot of mechanics in there 1/24 scale cars to simulate driving. Only one NASCAR was made in the series for Kyle Pettys Pontiac Grand Prix Stocker.
