Description[]
The Nissan Skyline GT-R is a series of sports cars based on the Nissan Skyline range, produced from 1968 to 2002. The car's fifth and final generation, designed by Kozo Watanabe and internally designated the GF-BNR34 (shortened to R34), was introduced in 1999 as a successor to the E-BCNR33 generation of the Skyline GT-R. The R34 was shorter and had less front overhang compared to its predecessors; the same 2.6L RB26DETT twin-turbocharged inline-6 was used with the R34, although it was now mated to a 6-speed Getrag manual. A number of special edition models were produced, including the V·Spec, V·Spec II, V·Spec II Nür, M·Spec and R- and Z-Tune. Production ended in 2002 with 11,578 produced. In recent years, the R34 has become a cult classic due to its appearance in various forms of media and has attained a sizable following among the various echelons of Japanese automobiles.
