Description[]
Found within Bruce Pascal's website on prototypes, he archieved slides which were taken at Industrial Design Affiliates, the largest supplier of Hot Wheels molds to Mattel. Among many of those slides showing prototypes of Big scale models of soon to be 1/64 Hot Wheel cars & Sizzlers, was an unreleased model, the Pontiac Grand Am Funny Car.
It appears to look similar to Mickey Thompson's US Marines Grand Am Funny Car. And consider that around the same time, Hot Wheels released the Army Funny Car, it is not out of the imagination. Why this funny car became unreleased is unknown, but perhaps Hot Wheels wanted to make an easier designed dragster with a drag racer that they had previously worked with; Don "Snake" Prudhomme.
