Description[]
The name Turbo Racer comes from the given name of the a Prototype from the Luis Montesdeoca Collection. It is possible that this casting appeared in a set/ sub-series within the Micro Hot Wheels line. Though no official variations have been found, this description will change once this casting is found in a Micro Hot Wheels set, and its information updated.
The car itself, based on the name and design, looks similar to a Turbo Rally car, like the Peugeot 405.
It is noticeable that based on the prototype, this car might've appeared on the Mini Light Racers series. Similar to the '65 Mustang (micro) & the Tow Rig (micro), this car carries a battery in its base and a switch on its roof. The only issues is on the back of the Mini Light Racers Blister, which promotes all the cars in the series, this car does not appear. Extra car in the series? Unreleased Prototype? Appeared in a different series? Only time will reveal the answer.
Update: Found in a 1990 Mattel Catalog is pictures of unreleased Micro Hot Wheels 3 & 4 packs. Some of these pack include this car to which, based on similar looking variants from the Mainline T-Bird Stocker (1990) suggests that this casting was meant to be a Micro Ford Thunderbird Stocker with occasional minor differences. The variants are listed below. All of the sets that these cars are from are Unreleased!
