The Rockford Files

It begs to be pointed out that Jim Rockford's Firebird was never a T-Top. So the 2013 version isn't based on The Rockford Files. Just a way for Mattel to sell more cars without creating a new casting. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 21:41, July 24, 2017 (UTC)

Is this a vari? HotBirdFlames Connor .D. 07:59, January 2, 2010 (UTC)

That's tough to call that one a variation although there is an obvious difference in the flame outline. In my opinion, a variation is a different color all together or even different wheels or interior colors. If anything, what you have would be a slight error not a variation. If a vehicle has missing hood or side tampos, one different color wheel, missing interior, reverse base, even a slightly misaligned tampo etc. etc.... I would consider it an error. An example of a variation would be the red interoir and tan interior versions of the All American Firebird Hot Bid. Just my opinion.

The lower car does appear to have a brighter yellow, most likely due to thicker paint. The blue in the lower car also appears to be missing on the upper half, combined with a tampo shift, creates a different look. I would have to say just a poor tampo job. The upper one has the interior pushed forward, quite common on this version. Put them together and you got a perfect car! Sinnin 11:38, January 2, 2010 (UTC)
