Released in 2004 and 2005, the Tech Trax series of cars and tracks was a new take on Hot Wheels racing, Featuring cars with articulation and configurable weights, and flexible, highly configurable track. They were designed with creative oversight from Object 8.
The cars were released in 2 packs, coming with 1 assembled car and a disassembled car. There were 3 sets released featuring 3 different types of articulation. "Turbo Torque" a central pivot similar to XS-IVE, "Jump Master" a central hinge in the car with a spring attached to keep the car level, and finally the "Power Pivot", a downward facing hinge in the center of the the car, allowing the car to bend in turns. The individual cars did not get names.
The track system, according to a patent, was designed by Dave Sheltman, Mike Finizza, Joe Pohlman, Mark Mayer, Mike Andrews and Nelson Tam. Scott Shinkle also takes credit for the design of the track on his portfolio.
