The Lost Cars of China was a highly limited edition series introduced in 2004. The castings used long-lost tools intended to be produced in Hot Wheels's China factories in the 1970s and 1980s, but somehow were misplaced; they were subsequently rediscovered in a pile of debris. Only two castings were used, with both exhibiting slight differences compared to their other counterparts.
