The Toyota 2000 GT (officially named Toyota 2000GT, note the lack of the space; トヨタ 二千GT in Japanese) was a 2-door sports coupe produced by Toyota motor corporation from 1967 to 1970. Designed originally by Yamaha, the Toyota 2000GT was proposed originally to Nissan, whom rejected the offer. Nissan later would use the 2000GT as a design inspiration on it's Fairlady Z (exported as the Datsun 240Z) which replaced the Fairlady Roadster in 1970.

The Toyota 2000 GT (officially named Toyota 2000GT, note the lack of the space; トヨタ 二千GT in Japanese) is a 2-seat sports car produced from 1967 to 1970. Born out of a joint venture between Yamaha and Toyota, the 2000GT was the single car that rewrote how Western car makers thought of Japanese cars. The Toyota 2000GT was Japan's first supercar and the first seriously collectable Japanese car. Only 351 were made, with 60 being exported to the US. the rest being thinly spread across the globe. The 2000GT served as a design inspiration for Nissan when they were designing their Fairlady Z to phase out the Fairlady Roadsters.

The Hot Wheels Toyota 2000 GT was originally slated for the final series of Hot Wheels Racing in 2012, but the series was cancelled before it came to fruition. It debuted in the mainline the following year without being labelled a 'New Model'.
The impact of the Toyota 2000GT would be one that would cause western car makers to change their thinking of the Japanese car makers practically overnight. in 1966 at the Yatabe Speed Trial in Japan, the 2000GT broke several existing speed and performance records. The 2000GT was Japan's first supercar and is considered to be their first collectable car.

The engine of the 2000GT was mounted in the front, longitudinally. The engine was a the 2.0 Litre straight-six based off the one used with the luxury car, the Toyota Crown.(hot Wheels released in 2016 a Hong Kong Taxi resembling a 1990s version of the Toyota Crown) Yamaha fitted in a dual overhead camshaft into an engine producing 150 horsepower.

In production, the 2000GT only saw 351 units roll off the assembly lines, making the car very rare. 60 units made their way to American shores and the rest were spread throughout the globe in similar numbers.
