First of all, excuse my english.

I just bought for my son, a Custom Volkswagen Hauler , it's the CGJ45, but its J26 version. Looks like the 2015 Version.

Should i add the code J26 into the Notes field, or J means that i should add a new row with a 2016 version?

Francrubio (talk) (UTC)francrubio. 01/19/2018 - 11:33 UTC

Could it just be a holdover - one that wasn't sold until now? I think those "J26" codes aren't very accurate and don't really mean much. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 23:22, January 20, 2018 (UTC)

Wheel type - Picture or text

I've noticed that some people are changing wheel type entries from text to an image of the wheel. What's your opinion of this? I don't think it is a good idea. This is a test 86 (talk) 19:52, January 14, 2018 (UTC)

That's a good question. And I'm not sure exactly what I think about it. I've seen cases where they will insert the image of a wheel type, but have to add text for a color that doesn't have a corresponding image. So it will have both text and a picture. Maybe text only would be best because, if it's inserted as a hyperlink, those interested in seeing what the wheel looks like can click on the link and it will take them to the specific wheel page and there they can see all the versions listed. So, I guess I tend to agree with you. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 23:54, January 15, 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for your hospitality

You are amazing!WikiWoman62 (talk) 13:46, August 31, 2017 (UTC)

Naming of images

Hi, HaarFager, why aren't you telling new users how to name their images? You were such a proponent for correctly naming images. Right now, I have to leave a polite message on their talk page to explain how images should be named, saying that future improper named images will be deleted. And I am not even an admin... Who's going to delete/rename improperly named images? You?? When will you start with this? That's an admin task. Please make sure to rename their images.
Also, could you keep the pages with a Delete tag up-to-date? When pages gets marked for deletion, they have to be checked and deleted. Please check them.
Also, could you fix the pages with a double re-direct? That's an admin task too.
Also, you should keep track of the SpecialPages regularly.
Also, you should inform users to remove the thumb coding from the table. Sure, it may be a Wiki thing, but you should be the one helping users to learn to work with it. Not me, I am not an admin. Please do you admin jobs. Thank you Stephan3321 (talk) 11:19, August 28, 2017 (UTC)

First off, you are skating very near harrassing behavior. To answer all your questions:
"why aren't you telling new users how to name their images?" Each user that joins should try to follow the guidelines set forth for the Hot Wheels Wiki. That information can easily be found on the homepage. It is the obligation of each new user to try and find out these things. It is not my job to hold each user's hand and babystep them through. I had to learn, and so should every other user.
"Who's going to delete/rename improperly named images?" If you will point them out to me, I can rename them. You might want to check out the Matchbox Cars Wiki and see how this very problem was solved over there. Did you bother to do any research about this matter, or even try to point out to me some images with incorrect names so that I could fix them? The answer to this is no. That's where you, as a user here, are not doing something you could and should be doing. Why are you doing it wrong?
"Also, could you keep the pages with a Delete tag up-to-date?" Some pages that get marked for deletion, are done so incorrectly. And I do delete pages regularly. If they are bothering you, why do you keep going back to them and let them bother you?
"Also, could you fix the pages with a double re-direct?" And where are these pages to be found? If I am not aware of them, how do you think I'm going to find out about them? Osmosis? Do you think I'm omnicient and know everything that's wrong around here just because I'm an administrator? Use your brain and you'd realize that I have no way of knowing something if I don't even know it exists.
"Also, you should keep track of the SpecialPages regularly." Why? Just because you say so? Show me the page from where you get this idea of what I should do.
"Also, you should inform users to remove the thumb coding from the table." That is not my job, either. Clearly, on the Editing Rules and Guidelines page, it shows users how to properly add an image to a page. It is the obligation of each user to learn these things. It is not my obligation to teach them these things. From where did you find the information that tells you otherwise? I will need an answer to this.
Now I have answered all your questions. I need a response from you telling me that you understand these answers and that you have learned what I said. If you don't respond, how do I know your mind is open to learning? Kenny HaarFager (talk) 13:38, August 28, 2017 (UTC)
How should users know about the Rules and Guidelines if nobody points them out to them? You say you had to learn it too, you were never corrected when you made a mistake? I am not saying it's your job, but I would be good for new users to have a helping hand the first few edits. It also saves time later correcting their edits.
Here's a few examples of badly named images:
  • IMG 6086 24.jpg
  • IMG 4110 24-0.jpg
  • IMG 4111 24-0.jpg
  • IMG 4112 24-0.jpg
  • IMG 4119 24.jpg
  • IMG 2244 24.jpg
  • IMG 4304 24.jpg
  • DSC 5608.jpg
  • DSC 5610.jpg
  • DSC 5622.jpg
  • DSC 5609.jpg
  • DSC 5568.jpg
  • IMG 2845.JPG (which is also an custom which doesn't belong on the model page, I will point that out to him)
And I could continue for a long time.
I don't see it fixed on the MB Wiki? To list some examples:
  • IMG 0002.JPG
  • IMG 0001.JPG
  • W4879 c 12 003 (1).jpg
Just to name a few.
How should I know that you wanted me to provide you with the images that are badly named? How should I know that you don't want to investigate them yourself?
Pages that currently have the delete tag, are given the delete tag with good reason. I have checked them myself recently. They are listed here: Category:Candidates_for_deletion.
Why should I provide you with all the links to the SpecialPages? You say to everyone "go learn it yourself". But you refuse to investigate it. Accusing me from not investigating the image-naming-thing. Since I am not the worst person, you can find the here: Special:SpecialPages. I knew what was wrong here when I was an administrator, so it isn't that strange to expect that you also know. You should try to understand that from my point of view. You're talking about harrassing? I think you agree with me that this sentence isn't very polite at all: "If I am not aware of them, how do you think I'm going to find out about them? Osmosis? Do you think I'm omnicient and know everything that's wrong around here just because I'm an administrator? Use your brain and you'd realize that I have no way of knowing something if I don't even know it exists." This is another example of you lacking words to properly explain yourself or even ask someone who does know how these things work. Cooperation... should be the key on this Wiki...
Admins should keep track of the SpecialPages since they show information about the Wiki, faulty pages, pages that need work, in short: everything that could improve on the Wiki. I do not blame you for not knowing it, I didn't know that you didn't know. But you could have just asked it in a normal way. The Guidelines didn't say that. You added it just 15 minutes ago. And the guidelines told the maximum size for images on pages (not in tables ;)). Images outside of tables can be a maximum of 300px. After you changed that, it said that images everywhere on the Wiki should only be 75px. Just giving you the heads-up about that thing :)
I am not responding because "I should have learned something". That's just an insane thing to say. I know how this Wiki works, and apparently better than you, so please explore the Wiki before saying silly things. We are here to make the Wiki better together, not to hate on each other. I hope you see it the same way... Stephan3321 (talk) 17:17, August 28, 2017 (UTC)
You do not know how this wiki works better than me. You can't even format a comment here correctly - and that's a basic edit. And don't tell me you didn't know how to do it. I explain, in clear language, on this very page how to do it correctly. But, yes, we do need to work together. So if you know of any images that don't have a very descriptive name, please tag them with the category name of "Images Needing Renaming." And as to "Special Pages," I go there all the time and those pages listed there are always listed there - no matter what. Are you suggesting I click on every one, all the time, just to see what may be linked to? That would take too much time when there are more important things that need done. Such as making sure each casting has it's own page, for one. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 18:40, August 28, 2017 (UTC)
The comment is only mis-formatted due to the list I included for you. Where did I say that you have to check all the pages? Just check the important one. Someone with your excellent brain and set of skills should be able to come up with that idea, not? Most of the casting have a page, save for some McDonald's or Monster Jam ones. But okay, let's continue working on the Wiki. We both know how to do that. Let's cooperate and not work against each other. Stephan3321 (talk) 19:50, August 28, 2017 (UTC)
I agree! Working together can accomplish lots. Thank you very much for saying that and I'll try to work with you. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 21:17, August 28, 2017 (UTC)
If you'll consider making me Administrator again (which Brad also did), I will take care of the faulty named images, SpecialPages, Category:Candidates_for_deletion, introducing new users to the Rules and Guidelines and correcting them when they make a not-so-perfect edit. That'll save you a lot of time. I will also take care of the bugged Achievement for the categories. Thank you for your consideration. Stephan3321 (talk) 08:01, August 31, 2017 (UTC)
I can't seem to find it yet, but when I do, I'll make you an administrator. I have to be gone the next two days, so just give me time. Thanks! Kenny HaarFager (talk) 16:34, September 1, 2017 (UTC)
Sorry it took longer to make you an administrator than I had anticipated, Stephan. But I had to go back in the VA hospital. My doctor and I have been fighting all year to keep my feet from having to be amputated. Looks like I lost because some of my left foot will have to be amputated. I might not be around here very much as I don't know when everything is going to happen with regards to the surgery. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 20:53, September 6, 2017 (UTC)

Blocking of Patty

Hello HaarFager, why did you block Patty? Because he added something to the top of your talk page? Like you explained to him? Just because he took it literally and tried to test your patience, doesn't give you a reason to block him. You blocked him for personal reasons... And one of those reasons is that you disagree with him. And instead of talking to him about that and explaining your opinion (which is a different thing than just saying it and not explaining it) and try to solve the problems, you decided to -- once again -- take the easy route and block him? Yet another block because you don't agree with a user? How about blocking all users and fix the Wiki yourself? You seem to be quite good at scaring users away. I thought a Wiki is a community portal for everybody. Even if you disagree, you should try to solve it. And solving does very rarely included blocking... Just so you know. Maybe you'll come to your senses and just maybe even see it the way Patty sees it. That would certainly help... Thank you.... Stephan3321 (talk) 11:31, August 28, 2017 (UTC)

You are in the wrong in this matter, so watch out. I gave Patty a chance to talk with me about all the issues he was having and he flatly refused to do so. Then he came back and wanted to "accuse" me of all the "charges" and that's just harrassment. We tend to block people who harrass users on the Hot Wheels Wiki. This is not a court and he is not the judge over me or anybody else. But, as an administrator, I have to try and keep things running smoothly on here. Every "charge" he levelled at me, I explained away. Just because it wasn't what he wanted to hear and didn't fit in with his uninformed opinion about how things work around here, is his problem. Not mine. And now I will answer all the "charges" you just made of me. And then you had better not question my motives. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 13:20, August 28, 2017 (UTC)
First you said: "Hello HaarFager, why did you block Patty? Because he added something to the top of your talk page? Like you explained to him? Just because he took it literally and tried to test your patience, doesn't give you a reason to block him." That was not the reason I blocked him. I blocked him because he said something about my still not answering the "charges" he levelled against me. If you will read the comment I left when I blocked him, you would know the reason he was blocked. Did you bother to read that comment? From what you wrote this time, apparently not.
Next you said: "You blocked him for personal reasons." No I did not. He kept harrassing me. So if you want to call that personal, that's not the reason.
Next you said: "And one of those reasons is that you disagree with him." I do not disagree with him. I clearly explained what was going on about how the old and new skin operates. He is just not knowlegeable enough to understand what he's doing wrong. I explained where he was wrong and still he refused to learn what was going on.
Next you said: "And instead of talking to him about that and explaining your opinion (which is a different thing than just saying it and not explaining it) and try to solve the problems, you decided to -- once again -- take the easy route and block him?" First off, I do not have an "opinion." The Hot Wheels Wiki works the way that it works and I or anybody else cannot have an "opinion" about that. If I or anybody else doesn't like the way it works, perhaps this isn't the place we should be. And yes, I did explain what was going on to him. More than once. He had no wish to listen to what I was saying. I blocked him simply because after he said he didn't want to talk about it, he brought it back up to try and hammer home his "opinion." He doesn't have an opinion I or anybody else needs to listen to. He just needs to use the Hot Wheels Wiki correctly. He is not using it correctly, and after I repeatedly tried to help him learn, he just kept calling me a "dictator."
Next you said: "Yet another block because you don't agree with a user?" I am an administrator and when users are harrassing other users, that's one of my job descriptions - to block those kinds of users. Your thinking is skewered and as such, you had better change it.
Next you said: "How about blocking all users and fix the Wiki yourself?" Users that know how to use the Hot Wheels Wiki correctly are not a problem. They don't need blocked. Why should they?
Next you said: "You seem to be quite good at scaring users away." And where is the proof of this? If it's users that want to continually harrass other users, these kinds of users have no place on the Hot Wheels Wiki. If you think they do, then your thinking is wrong.
Next you said: "I thought a Wiki is a community portal for everybody." Yes the wiki is for everybody. Everybody that wants to follow the guidelines set forth for being a part of this community. Those that want to do their own thing, contrary to the guidelines of the wiki are not trying to fit in with the community. They are "outcasts."
Next you said: "Even if you disagree, you should try to solve it." I tried to set him straight, several times, but he refused to listen and learn.
Next you said: "And solving does very rarely included blocking." You'll notice he isn't harrassing anybody this week he's been blocked for. I'd say that solved the problem of his harrassing behavior for a week. Wouldn't you? And now you're accussing me of things that are absolutely not true. If you continue to harrass me, when you are totally wrong, we will have to see what might have to be done about that.
And lastly you said: "Just so you know. Maybe you'll come to your senses and just maybe even see it the way Patty sees it." It's obvious you are deluded. I have explained to you and Patty how the "way he sees it" is uninformed and incorrect. If he refuses to listen and learn, there are no "senses" I have to come to. I simply enforce the community portal in the manner in which it was created to be used. Do you have a problem with that? Kenny HaarFager (talk) 13:20, August 28, 2017 (UTC)
I fully agree with the blocking of people who are calling names or harrassing. And if Patty did that, I am on your side. The comment you left doesn't explain anything: "This is not a court and you are not the judge over me. I have laid to rest all your charges, but you refuse to listen. Now I won't have to listen to you whine on." "Now I won't have to listen to you whine on."?? That sound pretty personal and sick-of-it. Not really appropriate for an admin to say? good admin should be patient.
I read his comments on your talk page, and if you call that harrasment, you are not used to anything. He was merely giving his opinion. Sure, maybe not in the best and polite way, but harrasment... no.
It was wrong of him to call you a 'dictator'. And he surely did have an strong opinion about how things should go here. But I managed to have a normal conversation with him about his ideas. So talking with him isn't the problem.
I am not even going to answer the comment about you scaring people away. If you can't see that for yourself, there is no use in me telling you and giving you proof. You know where to find the proof (hint: it's on the SpecialPages page).
They are not "outcasts"... They are users that never learned how to do it, since nobody told them... Sure they should have read the rules. Have you read the entire law book? No, because if you do something wrong somebody warns you and you'll learn. Perfect edits can only be made when you know how to make them.
I know "what can be done about that", your answer to many difficult things on the Wiki. Call it harrasment, call it giving an opinion. You're the one wielding the scepter.
That's funny. Patty knew more about the Wiki and its coding than you. Proof? See the message above this one where I am explaining the informative SpecialPages. He knows about the coding of the Wiki and the way its build. As long as you believe yourself, we should all be fine, not? Stephan3321 (talk) 17:27, August 28, 2017 (UTC)

Just making you aware

Hello again sir. A while back I discovered from seeing various edits on this site that you can run up your tally of categories towards your badges by making edits that remove the categories, then undo the edit to replace all the categories, then they count towards the category-related badges. Can you fix this flaw by any chance? Because making an edit to simply run up the tally on your categories for the sake of badges does nothing for the wiki as a whole and its rather childish to behave this way. Thank you for your time. --JDM My Ride (talk) 02:42, August 8, 2017 (UTC)二千十七年八月七日星期一

That does sound like a serious flaw. I wish they'd totally do away with the badges and awarding points. It doesn't seem to add much to what the wiki is about. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 14:18, August 27, 2017 (UTC)
How about just deleting that badge? The other badges help users to keep having fun at the Wiki. It's like Achievements in Steam and other community hubs. Stephan3321 (talk) 11:22, August 28, 2017 (UTC)
I have no way of deleting any "badges" or when that thing scrolls down and awards me points. Do you have that ability? I will need you to specifically answer this. And if you do have a way, explain it to me. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 13:43, August 28, 2017 (UTC)
I don't have that anymore. Every admin has the ability to turn badges on or off. Stephan3321 (talk) 16:11, August 28, 2017 (UTC)

Unnecessary categories for Tampos

Hello Again, I've noticed User:Julthep has created a plethora of categories for the Tampos themed around various auto parts companies, such as Greddy, T Tein, etc. Is that really necessary? I mean, those castings normally only have one or two releases with said Tampo theme on them anyways. --JDM My Ride (talk) 01:56, August 2, 2017 (UTC)二千十七年八月一日星期二

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. No, they are not useful or needed. Please remove them. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 16:49, August 4, 2017 (UTC)
All unneeded Tampo categories have been removed from remaining casting pages. And Special Liveries page has been created since August 3, 2017 with suggestion from User:Stephan3321 to concluded all company theme liveries in a segmented single page. Currently it has more than twenty liveries summarized. --Julthep (talk) 04:44, August 29, 2017 (UTC)
Having a separate Liveries page sounds like a real good idea! Thanks! Kenny HaarFager (talk) 13:07, August 29, 2017 (UTC)

How are my edits going?

Hi Kenny. I've been doing a bit of editing lately and I hope I am doing ok. I have been updating some pages with missing releases and just adding the 'Image Not Available' picture. Descriptions of vehicles, 1:1 and 1:64 and adding some pictures. Something I was concerned about is adding pictures that are not my own. If you have a look in my upload log, I have been adding a few pictures of Redlines which I don't own, what I do is if I see a picture online (instagram or reddit) i send them a message saying "Hi, can i please use this picture for the Hotwheels Wiki? i'll credit you as the owner." And usually they say 'yes', I watermark their name in the picture and credit them in the description. Is this allowed by the rules? I always ask for permission before, if that makes a difference. Thanks. Reece. --Reeceracing (talk) 02:20, July 20, 2017 (UTC)

As long as you get their permission and then credit them by name, I guess that would be all right. When possible, though, try to replace those kinds of pictures with ones taken by members of the Wiki itself. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 07:43, July 20, 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the response. Yes, I always ask for permission and credit them. And of course anyone can replace the picture if they have a better one. I mainly do it for pages of the original 68-72 Redlines, because unfortunately those pages seem to be forgotten about or abandoned with some not having been editing for over 8 years in some cases. Hot Wheels wiki is usually the first result on googling "Hot Wheels Casting Name", and it's a shame that some pages have hardly any info at all. Imagine someone picked up a 1971 Hairy Hauler at a garage sale and wanted to learn more about it, so they google it and the first result is THIS page. I'm slowly updating those redline pages, I'm having some time off my normal routine at the moment and need to burn some creative energy somehow! Just trying to get some content on this website. Thanks for reading my rant, hahaha. Have a nice day.--Reeceracing (talk) 23:07, July 20, 2017 (UTC)

Please check my work for me

Hello again, I was just wondering if you could look at the 2 new Auto City pages I created? I just acquired those castings and provided my own photos for them. If there were any FUBARs, please let me know and provide the encoding for how to fix them. Thanks in Advance! Pages:

--JDM My Ride (talk) 21:24, July 19, 2017 (UTC) 二千十七年七月十九日星期三

They look fine to me. Although I did correct some of the grammar on the Refuse Truck. You don't really need me to check up on your edits - as long as the pages you create look like the way pages are supposed to look, everything should be fine. Thanks for adding these castings, as I find this whole Corgi episode and Mattel's acquiring of their castings to be fascinating. I have some of Mattel's ex-Corgi castings in my collection. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 21:37, July 19, 2017 (UTC)

Just asking to make sure it has the Administrative seal of approval. I just got those cars I made pages for this past week, and I did a quick search on the net and noticed the packages had well, the Mattel insignia on them and they were the Auto City series. So since I saw no one else created pages and I had the camera and after a quick chat with my father, the cord to extract photos from my mobile I set off to create the pages feeling that because I had the castings and there wasn't the pages.......Therefore it was my job to create them. I do Love Corgi cars and I have a list of some very good cars from them, including the TV-series car from Starsky & Hutch, The weird and somewhat Tacky first crossover, the Matra Rancho and others from the 1970s and 1980s. Being that part of my family lineage came from Wales, where the Corgi factory was (I read somewhere that the factory corgi used was originally built to make shell casings in WWII) and since Corgi made a lot of UK-based cars, those castings are made in the same country as their real-life counterparts. --JDM My Ride (talk) 01:33, July 21, 2017 (UTC)二千十七年七月二十日星期四

Gallery Coding

I noticed you are using the image call code inside the gallery coding. I also noticed you tell 2 other users that they should also be using the same coding. The gallery code does not require the image call code for each image, it's basically included in the coding - it's redundant. There are more galleries without the image call code for each picture - I hope you are not suggesting that all galleries be "standardized" this way? Patty's Hot Wheels (talk) 13:00, July 19, 2017 (UTC)

I just remembered, since you seem more responsive than Brad, could you look at his talk page? I made 2 requests. 1 of guidance on splitting off of the HWC special series to it's own page and a request to edit the MediaWiki:Wiki-navigation page. Patty's Hot Wheels (talk) 13:05, July 19, 2017 (UTC)
From where do you get the idea that "The gallery code does not require the image call code for each image?" Please provide a link that shows what you're talking about. It's not redundant, it helps in the display of Galleries so that they show correctly on all kinds and sizes of computer monitors. Especially older ones like mine, which is 4x3 dimension and is not wide screen. That's the way it's been done on here by whoever created it. If you have a problem following the standards here that was created to be that way, maybe you don't belong here? If you don't like the way the Hot Wheels Wiki is, that's tough. For you or me. We didn't create it, but we either have to respect how it was created or leave. I respect how it was created to be, so the guy that started it made me an administrator because he felt I could help maintain his initial vision. If you don't like his vision, why don't you create your own page and do it how you want? Don't blame me for anything, I'm just trying to maintain this wiki in the manner it was created to be. Yes, all Galleries should use the same coding system. I'm not suggesting that it be that way myself, that's just the way it is - and I have to follow it as well. I didn't create the wiki, just try to maintain it. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 20:37, July 19, 2017 (UTC)
I have never heard that there was a problem with the gallery coding before now, but the community wiki has always shown galleries without the use of the Image: before each photo. You can see it clearly on the help page Galleries.
Not one example of a gallery shows it, nor is there any mention of including it so images will display.
This isn't about personal preference, which you seem to imply it's mine. Nor is it about challenging your authority, which you also act like when you quote your authority to declare a standard. This is about coding, nothing more. The gallery tags gallery and /gallery have built into the coding, the Image: call instructions. I can't be any clearer and I won't ever mention it again, if you can reproduce the differences on your machine and show screenshots, otherwise - I call baloney. You sound like you know very little about programming - you'd think there wold be ONE administrator around here that knew what was going on...Patty's Hot Wheels (talk) 00:35, July 20, 2017 (UTC)
I agree - this isn't about personal preference. That's the way it was done when I started editing here on the Hot Wheels Wiki, so I maintain that way because of who created the Hot Wheels Wiki wanted it that way. And I don't know where you people come up with the "Challenge my authority" bit. I just try to keep the focus of the Hot Wheels Wiki on the way it was created. Any user on here has that same "Authority." You do realize that the Hot Wheels Wiki has kind of split off from how most of the other wikis work because we felt we had special needs that were being removed by the Wikia programmers. That's really all I can say and I can show one of my first edits as being done that way. If you'll check out this link, you can see what I mean: http://hotwheels.wikia.com/wiki/Deora_II?direction=prev&oldid=11110 Kenny HaarFager (talk) 08:41, July 20, 2017 (UTC)
So you are saying, because the coding was started off incorrectly, honor and integrity require you to keep making the same error? That's lunacy. If the galleries needed the image tag, it would be included on the wiki help pages. This is a perfect example of you refusing to see the correct way to do things because you have some crazy commitment to YOUR standard (eventhough you claim it's somebody else's). Because the wiki gallery does not need it - I even showed you where the instructions for making galleries were and yet you stick to your guns. And in the programming world, superfluous code may not ALWAYS cause screw ups - but can. Now, if you TELL me I need to add the coding, I won't - it's silly. Coming from a silly man that seems to know absolutely nothing about programming - then you might as well block me, because eventually, I will be getting rid of that code - it's redundant. Patty's Hot Wheels (talk) 14:13, July 21, 2017 (UTC)

Oh and I just re-read your second request in your original comment and got what you said. I thought it said "Could I look at (this) talk page," and I didn't know which one you meant. When I re-read it and realized you had said "his" talk page instead of "this" talk page, it made sense. I see the post you were talking about and from what I can see, what you proposed looked like a good thing. I think more information is better than less information on here. I think the reason Brad didn't respond is probably because he's been pretty busy lately. He seems to be doing more work on his own website devoted to Hot Wheels than here. You can't blame him because he really seems to love Hot Wheels. I just wish he wouldn't try to advertise another site here on the Hot Wheels Wiki. As best as I can tell, your other request was splitting off some cars to their own page. If that's the case, I think that just puts more specific information out about certain cars and, to me, that's always a good thing, too. Like I said, more good information is better. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 09:25, July 20, 2017 (UTC)
Actually there were two requests there - the other was about editing the medianav file, but Stephen handled that. Did you seriously read that I was wanting to go back and split off the bonus releases from the pages they are currently on? Cause I thought I couldn't be any clearer when I said "Wouldn't it be better to keep them on the same pages they were?". I was wanting to move the bonus releases back to the Real Rider/Neo pages, the way it was 2011 and before, and delete the bonus release pages. Patty's Hot Wheels (talk) 13:58, July 21, 2017 (UTC)

'New Tool' on some pages

Hello, regard to your advice in my talk page about avoid adding 'New Tool' to Hot Wheels Classics. I just wonder why another pages such as Hot Wheels Boulevard or Hot Wheels Entertainment can have this kind of information? Julthep (talk) 08:36, July 16, 2017 (UTC)

I already answered that on your talk page. Why are you posting it here on my page now, after I already answered you? Kenny HaarFager (talk) 20:29, July 19, 2017 (UTC)
And just to be clear, I side with Julthep, you always claim that more information is better, and here is a clear example of you eliminating information - there is no logical reason in the universe to NOT have that information on the page. Patty's Hot Wheels (talk) 14:27, July 21, 2017 (UTC)

Another Question

ZHello again, sorry to be a bit of a clot, but I wanted to know what was the last time you saw an old release of a casting in a multipack? Today I was able to find an early China Version of the Sho-Stopper from 2001 in a package of 10 at a Wal-Mart department store alongside a gold 2003 Ford RS Escort. --JDM My Ride (talk) 23:16, July 8, 2017 (UTC)二千十七年七月七日星期六

Are you saying you found a version first released in 2001 in a current 10-Pack? If so, it may have been tampered with and returned. Sometimes people buy these 10-Packs for one particular vehicle in it, usually an exclusive release only found in the 10-Pack. They take it home, carefully open it, remove the valuable car, then place an old one they had lying around back into the package. They seal it back up and return it for a full refund. This is dishonest. If this is what you mean you found, it wasn't sold by Mattel that way. If you mean something else, then I misunderstood you. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 23:28, July 8, 2017 (UTC)

Well, what you just said basically tore the words from my mouth (in the case of the Escort, which even though it has scratches, My father should be able to grab me some old unwanted professional car paint for it). But the Sho-Stopper is in MINT Condition, even though the package, which oddly contains the Pontiac Banshee too, looks like it was tossed into a bailer several times over. Bright side is, I have my favourite TV presenter's favourite Ford. (The Escort Rally is a Ford RS Cosworth Escort, called a 'Cossie' by some fans.) --JDM My Ride (talk) 23:46, July 8, 2017 (UTC) 二千十七年七月七日星期六

Question from a contributor

Hello/Bonjour, I have 2 questions: A: In your knowledge of Hot wheels, what casting would you say best represents modern Youth culture? I am going to pose this question to other Admins on this site to gather more data. B: Do you know how I can straighten out the axles on a hot wheels car I've had as long as I can remember? I have had some limited success with a busted-up pair of old curved fingernail scissors that look kind of beat-up and worn. Thanks/Merci in advance! --JDM My Ride (talk) 01:51, July 5, 2017 (UTC) 二千十七年七月四日星期二

Who cares about the youth culture!? Does the youth culture care about anybody else? No. So why should I care more about the youth culture than I do about any other age group? Why should anybody? Why are you asking only about the youth culture - don't you care about any other age group? As far as your question about straightening axles, I seem to remember some kind of tool specifically for this in one of the old Hot Wheels television commercials I've seen on YouTube. Somewhere in the 1968-1972 range of Hot Wheels commercials. You might try looking there and see what you come up with. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 02:19, July 5, 2017 (UTC)
Well, I saw a video from Top gear about Youth culture/ Car Culture and with the debut last year of the 'Car Culture' series and seeing the many castings representing the JDM, bōsōzoku, Drag racing etc movements, I was wondering what car represents the contemporary youth car culture in your opinion. I have formulated a loose basis on my own of this, but was hoping to gather more opinions on this matter. --JDM My Ride (talk) 02:28, July 5, 2017 (UTC)二千十七年七月四日星期二
Also, to answer to your first question to the tone of 'who cares?', I do care about other age demographics and as you have written on your profile, you are a first-generation hot wheels fan and I am whatever generation an 18-year-old Canadian fits into is. I have been quite disconnected from youth car culture because of strict parenting and a general interest in well, cars made before I was born (or my mother for that matter) and more recently, cars not seen on my country's roads. Where I am currently, the most obvious sect of car culture is the one pertaining to trucks and this as you can guess, is more a regional thing than anything else. As a witness to Hot wheels from the early days, you have seen the progression of car culture and popular culture (making you a prime source for this kind of information and opinions). As I said previously, I have a loose basis for my own opinion on the matter as-is but I want more people's opinions and my family, aren't very helpful about this kind of thing. Hot Wheels has made castings that would make enthusiasts to many car enthusiasts from many automotive subcultures perhaps start collecting or get excited about. I myself have seen this from [www.japanesenostalgiccar.com] , who's 'inkan' or logo has been sported on the Japan Historics Line, the Datsun 620 , '71 Datsun Bluebird 510 Wagon (which in case you didn't know is my favourite hot wheels wagon, yes I love wagons.) The American muscle car culture has been heavily covered by Hot Wheels since the start and now so has the British sports car culture, JDM culture and to a limited and somewhat indirect way, Australian racing culture and a whole slew of others. Please, think about my question sir, I was asking someone who I feel is knowledgeable on hot wheels for an opinion. -Thank you/Merci for your time good sir.

--JDM My Ride (talk) 01:24, July 6, 2017 (UTC) 二千十七年七月五日星期三

I'm sorry, but I don't really know anything about the "youth culture." The only trend I see in my area, located like I am in Southern Illinois, is the "blacked out" look and the humongous wheels. The "blacked out" look is usually a truck, but sometimes a car, with blackwall tires and black rims, to try to achieve a flat-black look to the vehicle. I think it is a fad that will die out sooner or later. As to those huge rims found on today's cars that make it sit up so high - that is just the stupidest look I think I have ever seen. Back when horse and buggies had the big old wagon wheels and then the first automobiles came along with the same type of wooden-spoked wagon wheels, they found that by putting rubber around it made vehicles ride better. Then they realized that the more rubber you had and less rim, it rode even smoother. Those huge rims with about 1 or 2 inches of rubber are counter-productive and are, in fact, a regression in tire technology. I'll be glad when that fad finally dies out and people come back to their senses instead of just blindly following the latest fad. And usually following it only because everybody else is doing it. That's the worst reason to do anything - simply because everybody else is doing it. That's about all I know. Hope it helps some. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 23:37, July 8, 2017 (UTC)

Listen Up

The next person that replaces a category that I have already deleted twice gets banned for life. I'm tired of wasting my time doing work around here that gets erased by a noob. Administrator Kenny HaarFager (talk) 04:08, July 2, 2017 (UTC)

What category was it? the one called rather oddly 'Peck Em Up' ? When I first saw that one, I may have added other castings to the category after seeing that was the category for utility trucks. I didn't question the name, but in theory, as long as the name is recognizable to fans as to what the category is for, then there is no issue, right? Maybe we replace 'Pick Em Up' with something like 'Hot Trucks' because that is a term hot wheels has used a few times in eries on the pegs or simply put we could say 'trucks' but to me that one seems a bit ambiguous as 'trucks' refers to a broader range including lorries, dropsides, mining equipment etc. When it comes to categories, I created the categories for various nationalities of cars and JDM cars and by extensions, a category for cars with JDM Modifications. On the latter I wrote out in the category why the cars there are in there, as to stop any mistakes of misplacing a car in said category to a minimum. Maybe a category for trucks should be named in a way that fans can recognize or maybe in a way designed to make it less ambiguous in name and purpose?--JDM My Ride (talk) 16:21, July 2, 2017 (UTC) 二千十七年七月二日星期日
That was my category, sorry you didn't like it. I really would like to see a category for them. What about from the '56 Hi-Tail Hauler "Good Ol' Pick-Um-Up" ? Or maybe just plain Pick-up Trucks? Patty's Hot Wheels (talk) 17:09, July 2, 2017 (UTC)
It's not a matter of liking or disliking, it just didn't register immediately what the category was for, like I've said in our debate on the subject of category names with User:This is a test 86 , as long as the category is recognizable in purpose such as 'JDM Cars' or 'Hot Hatchbacks' you can jazz it up for a more hot-wheelsy feel, but keep in mind whether fans can recognize it or not. Maybe something like 'Hot Trucks' ? Hot wheels has used that in mainline as a mini-series, so it would be appropriate. The name 'Pick Em Up' only registers after seeing cars in the category or you know, thinking about it for a second. I get it was with the best intentions and I do think that there should be a category for trucks, as I am the one who created the category for Cab-Over Engine cars and Commercial vehicles.--JDM My Ride (talk) 17:33, July 2, 2017 (UTC) 二千十七年七月二日星期日
Here's my take on the category name "Pick Em Up." First off, if used in that context, it's incorrect grammar. "Em" is a slang word for "Them" and to be used correctly, it should be "'Em." Note the apostrophe before the "E." Second off, I see all kinds of categories such as "Japanese Vehicles," "German Cars," "Porsche Cars," etcetera. But to see one "slang" word such as "Pick Em Up," just doesn't fit in with how the Hot Wheels Wiki was created. It was created to be an accurate database for Hot Wheels vehicles. Look in any encyclopedia - would you see a slang word like "Pick Em Up" under "Automobiles?" No. I was made an Adminstrator by the person who created the Hot Wheels Wiki because he felt I was trying to keep his original vision intact. This is a serious project and a lot of people have donated their time to add to it and I feel that slang words like "Pick Em Up" just detracts from the overall credibility of this online database. That is where I'm coming from. I hope you all can understand that my intentions are honorable and that I'm only trying to keep the original vision of the guy who created this wiki in focus. Why can't we just use the term "American Vehicles" for American pickup trucks and "Trucks" for worldwide brand of trucks? Or something on that order? I also saw a lot of the vehicles that had the category of "Pick Em Up" as also having the category "American Cars." To me, that is a misnomer as well. It should just be "American Vehicles" so that it applies to cars and trucks evenly. I am not trying to be a dictator here, just trying to fulfill the charge that was granted to me in being an administrator. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 20:50, July 2, 2017 (UTC)
Edit to add - I see above where Patty suggested "Pickup Trucks." That also seems like a good name for the category for those kind of trucks. I guess, obviously, that kind of name wouldn't be appropriate for trucks such as delivery vans or semis. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 20:53, July 2, 2017 (UTC)
Also, if I may say this, I will admit I have used terms based off Hot Wheels series terms for categorization in the past, mainly because this is the Hot Wheels wikia (and I was told that and that this wikia is not about the real cars, leaving me question now where lines are drawn here) Those category names I wanted to be:
A: recognizable to fans as to what the categories are for (if you can't tell what it is then that's just frustrating at times)
B: Short, as to minimize the potential for typing errors that create a new category because of a one-character difference in the way they were typed.(Been there, done that, cleaned up the messes.)
C: Because collectors come in all shapes and sizes and tastes in cars. Take me for example, I love foreign cars and classic Japanese cars are among my favourites in my collection. I love my old Corgi cars to death (even though I'm 18) and Hot Wheels has been a very close companion from since I was very little, so that sparked my passion for cars. Different collectors collect cars base doff different reasons, some only collect JDM, some only collect American muscle, some collect everything imaginable, some only collect vintage. I try to categorize and sometimes use both UK and US spellings with clarifications in between to make the wiki more universal, because even though Hot Wheels is an American toy by right, it's fandom spread worldwide. --JDM My Ride (talk) 21:38, July 2, 2017 (UTC) 二千十七年七月二日星期日
JDM, please try to format your responses so that they line up correctly. Haven't you ever read the advice on the top this page that says how to format your reply properly? Properly replies just makes it easier to follow along with each response in the order it was made - because they're indented. As far as your point about US and UK spellings, in categories, I suppose if a Hot Wheels that was sold in England had a certain spelling that wasn't used in the United States, then it could be used as a category name. I think the series a car is released in makes a good choice for category names. I mean, after all - isn't that the whole concept behind categories? I think if we're going to use categories, we should use the full potential of them. Now, in the tables, I try to standardize the spelling using American English because Hot Wheels are an American invention. By this I mean, I standardize the color gray as "gray" instead of "grey." But, if a car in real life was released with the name of say, "Grey Ghost," then we should keep and use that name universally. Does this make any sense? That's what I go by, anyway. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 22:00, July 2, 2017 (UTC)
JDM, I noticed you don't have an account setup here on the Hot Wheels Wiki. It is preferred that everyone who makes edits have an account. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 22:02, July 2, 2017 (UTC)
I do have an account, I just changed my account Signature. Anyways, the use of slang term 'tunerz' I have used to describe a few unlicensed hot wheels. ('Tuner' as it pertains to hot wheels representing unlicensed castings designed to look only somewhat like their real-life counterparts but different enough to slip past copyright infringements) Thus, 'Import Tuners' a category actually I got the idea for because of the description for the Seared Tuner, I have used to describe those unlicensed vehicles inspired by cars brought in from outside North America. In the past I have used the term 'tunerz' to shorten category names because I literally had not other short way of putting things and if you've ever gotten a migraine while typing something, you know that typing a long category name can be well, difficult. So I shortened category names to generally cut back on typing errors for category names. I am guilty of making long category names, but there was in those cases, no other way of putting things aside from the words I used. But I have used the term 'tunerz' to describe certain categories because they were primarily for those unlicensed custom-style castings. Categories such as 'JDM tunerz' to describe the Mad Manga and Asphalt Assault because those cars are heavily JDM-styled.--JDM My Ride (talk) 22:22, July 2, 2017 (UTC)二千十七年七月二日星期日
So I guess that's a no on "Good Ol' Pick-Um-Up"? Patty's Hot Wheels (talk) 03:27, July 4, 2017 (UTC)
Well, it just doesn't sound serious or professional. And besides that, it, too is incorrect grammar. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 07:53, July 4, 2017 (UTC)

The one Canadian Hot Wheels?

Hello again. Recently, I had a rather long argument with the Admin User:This is a test 86 about the origins of the cast Lumina Stocker. The Chevrolet Lumina was assembled at the Oshawa Chevrolet plant in Ontario and yet when I categorized the casting as a Canadian car, he removed it and placed it in the category for American cars. The argument he posed for it being an American car was that because the car was made by a US company for the American market, makes the car American, overlooking the fact that if there is something that sets a car apart from other Hot Wheels, then that could of note to collectors, such as myself or even someone who is a Canadian patriot. Also, he is ignoring the simple fact that the Lumina was not exclusively sold in the US, there are a few still on Canadian roads as I have seen myself, as I am Canadian.

Is the Lumina classified as American or Canadian? It was one of few Hot Wheels cars depicting a model assembled only in Canada, so does it classify as Canadian or not?

--JDM My Ride (talk) 01:51, May 5, 2017 (UTC)二千十七年五四月日星期四

When a car is given a category, it is traditional, or understood, that the country it is given is the country in which the company is located, as in the business headquarters. That would be why a Volkswagen Beetle, which although it might have been made in Mexico in 1977, is still considered a German car. Because Volkswagen was located in Germany. As to the Lumina, it is a car manufactured by General Motors, which is an American company. So, that's why it would be given an American car category. But what everybody, but me, is overlooking in this particular case, is that stock cars are not made in factories. They are custom made in shops for NASCAR teams, of which most of them are located in North Carolina, U.S.A. That would make this particular car, in this case the Lumina Stocker, an "American-made" vehicle. I hope this clears things up. Kenny (talk) 17:17, May 5, 2017 (UTC)
OK, I was just wondering because the Lumina was a vehicle assembled purely in Canada and by US law would classify as an Import. I am familiar with the concept of 'whitebody' chassis-ones plucked from the assembly for motorsport only,(the body and chassis had to have been assembled somewhere and assembling every single piece of a car is a bit of a tall order) and was wondering because 'stocker' implies 'stock' as in, not too terribly different from the road version.
On an unrelated topic, might I ask; if you could have Hot wheels make a 5-pack containing any 5 cars of your choosing, what 5 would you pick? What would you call this 5-pack? What themes would you have on the casting liveries?

--JDM My Ride (talk) 23:27, May 5, 2017 (UTC)二千十七年五月五日星期五

Stock cars of today are anything but stock. There are absolutely no stock parts in the frame or the body. The engines are not factory engines and I can't think of any other part that is stock. As to what liveries of my ultimate "dream" 5-Pack, I would want them to have no gaudy tampos at all. Maybe things like headlights and license plates, but no writing or designs on them. As to which five I would pick to be in the 5-Pack - probably my favorite five vehicles. Deora, Deora II, Letter Getter, '40's Woodie and 8-Crate. Although an all station wagon 5-Pack would be very cool, too! Kenny (talk) 23:52, May 5, 2017 (UTC)
(Honda Civic Si (2006)o, as a professed lover of all cars made outside the US, because I've seen so many Amercan cars, they fail to stimulate much beyond a generic answer of 'I like the front-end design' or 'I like that the gauges are easy to see'. For me, a JDM 5-pack or a 5-pack commemorating the upcoming 50th Anniversary of the Iconic Honda Civic, I would have a 5-Pack containing:

Honda Civic Type R Honda Civic Si(2006) Honda Civic Si (2001) 1990 Honda Civic EF and that unreleased yet Casting that is of a 2017 Type R Civic. Another one I would say would have to say would have to contain

Name error?

Hello Kenny. This page is called '82_Corvette_Stingray but this model has never been called "82" in any edition. This model is in fact based in the 80-82 'vettes, but there is another hot wheels casting called "82 Corvette Stingray" for HW Collectibles, HW 100%, HW 50th Corvette Anniversary and 45th Corvette Anniversary Showcase editions. I don't know if I could make a major edition of this page whitout start a discussion or ask for opinnions. I will create the '82 Corvette page, but I don't want this could make a confusion, or one page would be deleted for being duplicated. This two are very similar castings, but, as far as I see, not the same cast. The first one, the "Stingray", has had always plastic body, opaque windows and no interior, longer and larger body, smaller rear window and windshield, and different hood scoop; produced from '90 (power command) to '17, license date in base is 1975 (2012 in some cases). The second one, the "'82 stingray", is metalic body, thinner and smaller, bigger windows, has interiors, opening hood, detailed engine and a "T" line on the roof; produced from '98 to '03, and license date in the base is 1997. What do you think (or know)? different castings? or should I include these versions in the current '82_Corvette_Stingray page? Greetings, George Il maniaco (talk) 16:36, April 19, 2017 (UTC)

They look like different castings to me as well, so I think they should each have their own page. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 21:52, April 19, 2017 (UTC)

Help if I establish my own Wiki

Hello again. A while (as in over a year ago) I asked if it would be alright to establish a Corgi Juniors wiki. The thing is, there is an utter lack of information on corgi castings, as the company has been gone for many years now. I would like to request your help if I were to establish my own wiki. Thank you for your time.

--JDM My Ride (talk) 01:14, March 6, 2017 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but I don't know anything about Corgi, so I would be unable to help in any way. I guess you'll have to search for Corgi experts on the internet to help. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 13:32, March 6, 2017 (UTC)
Maybe if you adapt the phrase from that old baseball movie, "Build it and they will come," to start your Corgi wiki. If you create it and start adding pictures of the cars you have and any information you might know, maybe it will attract other people who know about Corgi. That's all I know to suggest. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 13:35, March 6, 2017 (UTC)
Thank you for your response.

The fact is, I know little about Corgi myself. (I may have a few of their cars from the '70s and 80s, but all I know is a rough range of years the models were produced.) In my collection of corgi, I have only 2 or 3 I know for certain the year of manufacture, the rest I only know the decade they were made. I aside from that, have a lack of know-how on how to create pages without making a huge mess of the encoding. If I establish it, I would want your help (your experience would be valuable). Thank you for your time. 二千十七年三月八日,星期三--JDM My Ride (talk) 01:04, March 9, 2017 (UTC)

Actually, it's very easy to create a page. I created the Maisto Diecast Wiki and all you have to do is copy the code from a page like this Hot Wheels wiki and use the same kind of format. Just change the names for your Corgi models and start from there. Once it actually exists, people that collect Corgi vehicles will find and maybe want to join and help. That's what I did with the Maisto page. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 13:11, March 9, 2017 (UTC)

Improper Images

Hi Kenny, It's been a while eh? I was looking through the newer images and noticed User:SearchingHotWheels is replacing good single images with a collage image. Although I can appreciate the effort, I don't think that his new images look right in the lists. Maybe he could put them at the bottom gallery and leave the list as is. What do you think? Here's a couple examples, he seems to be a Porsche collector P-911 , Porsche 911 Carrera , Mike, Vista69 (talk) 03:33, February 20, 2017 (UTC)

I agree with you. It makes it harder to see the actual vehicle, which is primarily what the tables are for. Now, in the gallery or maybe even the header image, some other kind of shot could be used, but the tables seem more like an encyclopedia instead of a place to show off your photos. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 04:19, February 20, 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for looking into it. He does have a couple versions that I wasn't able to add originally, but if you could maybe revert the page and let him re-enter a single 3/4 picture that is still missing, that would be great :) Mike Vista69 (talk) 05:22, February 20, 2017 (UTC)
Oops, I see you did that already, Thanks :) Vista69 (talk)
Yeah, I asked him if he wouldn't mind adding some shots like what was already on there, single car shots, and placing his "collages" into the Gallery where it would do them more justice. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 05:28, February 20, 2017 (UTC)

"New" Wheel Type naming system

I am not a fan of the "new" naming system for the wheel types introduced by HWC Gary. I am not a fan of changing all the links and use confusing acronyms for the wheels. I think such a significant change should be discussed or even poll'ed with the editing community. The "new" naming system should also be consistently used on every casting page. Which no one is willing to do. For example: what even does "Real Rider slotted mean"? Are the slotted Real Riders? No!: the Real Riders are slotted, so they are Slotted Real Riders. So let's vote?! Stephan3321 (talk) 18:32, August 29, 2016 (UTC)

Is this new wheel type, i.e. Slotted Real Rider already represented on our Real Rider wheel types page with a different name? Or is this new wheel type not pictured or listed on the Hot Wheels Wiki yet? Kenny HaarFager (talk) 22:40, August 29, 2016 (UTC)
Yes, the SRR appears on the Real Rider page (it's the 5th one from below). It used to be just "SRR", but now it's called "RRsl". The same thing is happening with the Turbine Real Riders at the top of the page. They used to be just "TRR", but now they are "RRtu". And, another example, they used to be named "Goodyear White TRR" (i.e. White Turbine Real Riders w/ Goodyear tampo) and now they are named "RRtu-wh/Gdyr", whatever that may mean... Stephan3321 (talk) 09:52, August 30, 2016 (UTC)
I just checked on how many edits (contributions) HWC Gary has made to the Hot Wheels Wiki and I see that he's been correcting different wheel names because, quote, "HWC Gary moved page DDRR to RRdd: Correct trademark name is Real Riders deep-dish wheels." That's what I saw. So, he's letting us know the real, trademarked name finally. If someone at Hot Wheels could have notified us with the correct, trademarked names a WHOLE lot sooner, it could have saved some users a lot of wasted effort on the wheel types. I myself have put in tons of hours on the wheel types page and various wheel pages. I feel like my time could have been better spent elsewhere had I only known that the wheels always had an official "trademarked" name, but they wouldn't tell us what they were. I'm not very happy over this name change. We had a way of doing things and now HWC Gary comes along and changes it. I'd almost like to change the names back to what we used originally, because this wiki is not affiliated with Mattel in any way - as in they don't pay us to do this, but they get a lot of good promotion out of it. What do we get? Nothing except for our personal affection of Hot Wheels vehicles. We should at least be able to run things here in the way we started and how the page was set up to be ran. That's my thoughts for now. What do you think, Stephan3321? Kenny HaarFager (talk) 22:51, August 31, 2016 (UTC)
I don't like the change. I cannot name one other (fan) site that uses Mattel's official names. Look at HobbyDB, they use descriptive names. So I am against the change! Not only because it gives us so much extra work, but also because they are not easy to remember. I know the names of almost all Real Riders, which makes for fast edits. But I can't remember the new names. That's my opinion. I'm against!Stephan3321 (talk) 10:11, September 1, 2016 (UTC)

Please Block

Please block user Carrison Poe (http://hotwheels.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Contributions/Carrison_Poe) for placings spam, vandalising pages and placing racist text on pages. Not only that, he also places inappropriate text on pages. This user is up to no good! (PS, your Talk Page is becomming pretty slow due to all the text).Stephan3321 (talk) 08:44, August 27, 2016 (UTC)

Yes, please block Carrison Poe; this person has been placing inappropriate texts on page again. This is the second time it happened. Stephan3321 had to remove it the first time and I the second time on the same page.
UYScuti (talk) 04:29, August 28, 2016 (UTC)
This user has been blocked. I just blocked him for a period of 99 years. That ought to show him that behavior such as his will not be tolerated around here. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 05:26, August 28, 2016 (UTC)

Dear Sir (Admin) It makes you happy constantly harass me and block ??? If you know that picture DODGE A100 (Matchbox List 2015 1-120) you've erased me, I had just returned, and so I think that I was blocking unfairly and should you think about your actions. Thank you

I'm writing this here because on one page, of course, I can not ...

Why did you undo my edit by replacing the Dodge A100 picture I had removed? I had replaced it with a better, clearer image. Which is what users are supposed to do. So, by undoing my edit, you essentially made my work meaningless. Do you think that is fair? Do you consider that I'm harassing you by doing something that each user is supposed to do, and that is to try and make the Matchbox Cars Wiki better? By coming here and accusing me of harassing you over something you should not have done in the first place, is skating dangerously near to getting permanently blocked - over on the Matchbox Cars Wiki and here on the Hot Wheels Wiki. Evidently you did not read my message telling you that when somebody replaces a blurry image with a better image, and then you go and revert back to the blurry image, that is counter-productive to what we're going for on a wiki. That kind of behavior is not acceptable, so I'd better not catch you doing it again. Do you understand me? Now, for unfairly accusing me of harassing you, you need to apologize to me and then see that the kind of behavior you got blocked for does not happen again. Do you understand me? I want you to respond and say, clearly, that you understand the concept of what I'm saying. If I don't hear from you real soon, I will have no recourse but to block you permanently. Do you understand what I'm saying? I hope so, and that you learn from this experience. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 05:03, August 15, 2016 (UTC)
Yes, it is certain that I understand what you write, but unfortunately Everyone thinks that his picture is better, so I do not touch to your images - whether as what not to reach any place and even defacing the overall impression of the page. Clearly not reach, but it is interesting that you notice only still images and my editing and in fact there is a majority of other pictures that they would like to replace, but if I change to be blocked, but I figure if someone rewrites it's OK .. Interesting policy . But good for your images not to touch. You can therefore again please unblock it.? Thank you.

http://matchbox.wikia.com/wiki/User:RUR 08:45 August 15, 2016

Yes, everyone might think their pictures are better, but some people have no skills in identifying what justifies a good image. You seem to be one who has a problem identifying what makes a good or bad image. I happen to have those skills and can identify a good or bad image. But, it's not all right to replace my images with worse ones because my images are generally pretty representative of what we're looking for on the wikis. You were only blocked because you undid one of my edits that I spent the time in doing replacing a blurry picture with a clear picture. You put the blurry image back in it's place. I don't know why you would do that? What were you thinking when you did that? I'd really like to know. One little fact you're probably not aware of - I've probably deleted more of my own photos than anybody elses. Mostly because some of my earlier photos were of cars still in the package and some better pictures came along of the vehicles loose so they could be seen better. I notice you don't seem to have a good grasp of what is going on at the Matchbox Cars Wiki. Especially when you say I only notice still images and your editing. I notice a whole more than that and more users as well. I'm always going around fixing bad edits. And yes, there might be a whole lot of images that needs replaced, but if I don't have that particular vehicle in my collection, I can't do anything about it. What are implying this "Interesting policy" is? I think you have something in mind that isn't quite right with what is actually happening. Anybodys images can be touched, if they need to be upgraded, but mine usually don't because I'm a professional photographer by trade. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 18:35, August 15, 2016 (UTC)
I'm still waiting for that apology, RUR. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 15:03, September 1, 2016 (UTC)

Have some questions about the wheels page

First hello Kenny; I have been away for a while and would like to help out some. Is this the best way to contact you? I had some difficulty figuring out how to post a message; the help page referred me to a leave message button??? Is there a reference for the Race Car Tire (RT); and what was the first casting it was used on? Or castings? I can not picture it, or recall where it was used. Do you remember scooter1's wheel list, is it still available? I am working on one of my excel list, and trying to fill in some blanks. Bill (turbogt350) Turbogt350 (talk) 23:29, April 11, 2016 (UTC)

This is a good way to contact me. As far as our list of wheels here on the Hot Wheels Wiki, have you tried the Wheel Types page? It mentions the RT tire, but doesn't mention which car it was first used on. It does say it was introduced in 1992, so that might be a place to start looking. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 03:21, April 12, 2016 (UTC)
I had checked the wheel types & the 1992 pages, plus my excel listing. I still can not figure out what that wheel was used on. In 1992 the pro circuit series came out but they used the PC5 & PC6 wheels. It mentions the wheel looks like a Real Rider; which one the Turbine style, or the Dish style? Also said it can come with or without a red, or white stripe. I was just hoping you knew, being the wheels guru:), and very knowledgeable about Hot Wheels. I tried googling it as well as 1992, to no avail. I have not had a whole lot of luck with google searches. I also checked Paul Provencher wheel list, it was pretty in-depth list. Well thanks for the help, I have more questions, but that is for later. Bill Turbogt350 (talk) 23:38, April 13, 2016 (UTC)
I did a search for the race car tire on this Hot Wheels wiki and found out what it looks like and which cars use it. It turns out it's like a NASCAR race tire and looks like the ones on this vehicle: http://hotwheels.wikia.com/wiki/File:01dodgers.jpg. Now that it's identified, I'll see if I can get a picture of the wheel and add it to the wheel types page. I'm pretty sure I have a car or two with this kind of wheel on it. Hope this helps! Kenny HaarFager (talk) 23:21, April 14, 2016 (UTC)
And on further research, they also look like these tires - GYE10SP, but with the Real Rider tires. I'm going to add an image of the Real Rider tire version of the race car tire right now. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 23:35, April 14, 2016 (UTC)
Well, I'm going to have to dig deeper to find one of those wheels, but I'll keep looking. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 23:49, April 14, 2016 (UTC)
Thank you your help is appreciated. The picture helped, but I then realized that the car was too new, being from 2001. I have done some more research, I realized it was possibly a code 2 car, and found these acronyms, CC, RRCC, CC5SP, & GYBlackHub's. Also I discovered that if you count the spokes on the GYE10SP (Wheels_AGENTAIR_61.jpg) there are only 9 Spokes. The wheel on the Dodgers car is a 10 Spoke; and it has D shaped holes. It more closely resembles a true NASCAR wheel. Which is what is on the 1997 Pro-Racing series car too. I have a McDonalds NASCAR Taurus Stockcar, I could try to take a picture if you need one. The one I have is a standard wheel black wall version. I think I found a couple more wheels to add. I will save that for a new topic. I noticed variations in the side wall markings as well. Hope this helps with the list. Again thanks for the help. Bill Turbogt350 (talk) 00:27, April 16, 2016 (UTC)
As far as the McDonald's Taurus Stock Car, I already have a picture of the wheel type found on it. I added it to the wheel page. You're right, there ARE only 9 spokes on the GYE10SP wheel. We probably should correct the name. There are 10 spokes on the McDonald's version of that wheel, so we won't have to rename it. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 02:07, April 16, 2016 (UTC)

Is it okay to replace a low quality picture with a higher quality picture?

Just wondering, thanks! Nathanmrcar (talk) 14:18, March 28, 2016 (UTC)

Yes. As long as what you consider to be a better picture would be what a lot of other people would also think to be a better picture. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 09:53, March 29, 2016 (UTC)
I hope this answered your question! If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask! Kenny HaarFager (talk) 09:27, July 27, 2017 (UTC)

Who desides that a page should be deleted and when?

Who decides if a page should be deleted after it gets marked for deletion? Do you do that? And how do long does it takes to delete those pages? 'Cause the Retro Entertainment pages (even al the link-to pages) are just a maze. If you want, I could help you when it comes to deleting pages? Just another hand to keep this Wiki clean and easy to use! Stephan3321 (talk) 10:52, February 8, 2016 (UTC)

Fake Redline Wheels On Heritage - Redline Series

I noticed that the wheels on the Redlines subseries from the Heritage series do not have real redlines. The wheels are just Blackwalls (BW) with a red stripe printe on them. How should we name them? As new redline wheeltype (i.e. RL4 or something like that) or as Blackwall with a print (i.e. RSBW, Red Stripe Blackwall)? Stephan3321 (talk) 14:34, December 29, 2015 (UTC)

Good question! I think there's already a RL4, so we probably need to come up with something unique for these "fake" Redlines. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 07:01, December 30, 2015 (UTC)
I've named them RLBW (Redline Blackwall) and added them to the BW page. I'll upload a photo from the wheel as soon as possible. Stephan3321 (talk) 10:52, February 8, 2016 (UTC)

How to advice

Hi, I was just wondering, how do I create a Category page? I tired before but the page kept coming up as a Casting page, not a category page.

Linking gallery pictures off-site

Please review the conversation on User_talk:KMJ about linking photo's to other sites. I thought there was a rule against this. I looked and could not find it, and may be wrong.Patty's Hot Wheels (talk) 22:45, November 17, 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for bringing this to my attention! I have placed a warning on this user's page. The page you were looking for can be found on the homepage here and it's a link called "Editing Rules and Guidelines." Kenny HaarFager (talk) 05:05, November 18, 2015 (UTC)

Recommended Categories

I was searching about here on HW wikia and noticed that there isn't a "Buses" Category yet. I was wondering also why there isn't a category titled "Japanese Cars", as there is the category for French cars and Australian cars. A lot of Hotwheels castings are of Japanese-Market or Japanese-manufactured vehicles like the Datsun 510 sedan and Wagon and the 1990 Honda EF Civic.

Well, then create that category. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 21:46, November 9, 2015 (UTC)

Casting Template

Per my edit on Volkswagen Caddy and 2013-2015 New Models, itt was my understanding that since the "Casting Template" is for castings, that the "number" on there referred to the toy number/SKU because the template is for the casting itself and not for any individual release. This is how both Mattel and Tomart's identify castings. This is a test 86 (talk) 12:08, October 5, 2015 (UTC)

You're actually right. I was in error. What I had done was I had just edited another page where it had the casting as "124/144" or something like that. So, since it was on my mind, I thought that's how we did it here. So, I changed this page. I have reverted it to the corrct number now, so it's back to standard. Thanks for pointing that out. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 22:35, October 16, 2015 (UTC)

New Template

Hello! I have added a new template to this wiki that I think will help admins here. You can make it by added (The time they are blocked) to any user's talk page after blocking them, and it will tell them they are blocked. Here is what it looks like:

You have been blocked

Please note that your talk page access may be revoked.

While you are blocked, you should take your time to read over the rules.

Vandalism on List of 2016 Hot Wheels

HaarFager, User:Tich3e has been vandalizing the page repeatedly today. Is there anything that can be done? This is a test 86 (talk) 03:45, September 30, 2015 (UTC)

I've blocked User:Tich3e for a little while. I believe there were enough warnings to warrant it.

Metalflake vs. Metallic

"Standardization. Stop using the word "metallic" instead of "metalflake." It was decided long ago to use metalflake as the standard term. I swear, the next person I catch using the word "metallic" is going to get banned."

This is what you wrote after fixing the Ramp Truck page. And I agree fully with you. Metalflake and Spectraflame and Spectrafrost are Hot Wheels paints. To be honest, I use SouthTexasDiecast's colors and tampo descriptions since they are so spot on and consistent. And I noticed that they (for the first time, on the very first car ever) used "Metallic". They used Metallic for the Steer Clear. And true: the Steer Clear is neither Spectraflame, Matte, Satin, Anodized or normal Red. It trully is Metallic Red. Stephan3321 (talk) 17:58, September 10, 2015 (UTC)
The reason I settled with one over the other was this is the same as an online encyclopedia and things have to be standardized over the whole work so as to make it easier for people to use. I also settled with the word "metalflake" over "metallic" because Hot Wheels themselves uses "metalflake." So, if that's what they use, that's what we should use. I even posted a card showing this:
Hot Wheels Metalflake Paint Card.jpg

I agree with you, but the color of that car is not Metalflake. There are no metalflakes in the paint. The paint is not matte/flat and it is no anodized paintjob. The color is somewhat shiny, but still not really shiny. I don't know what Mattel uses for this car, but definitely not Metalflake.Stephan3321 (talk) 18:17, September 10, 2015 (UTC)
That was just the generic card they used for the Real Riders series. It showed the same car on all the packages and they weren't all painted with metalflake paint. I basically uploaded it to show the usage of the word "metalflake." Kenny HaarFager (talk) 18:20, September 10, 2015 (UTC)
I didn't mean the car on the card, but Steer Clear. But it seems the color in SouthTexasDiecast has already been changed to Anodized Candy Red. Consider these messages as unsed please!Stephan3321 (talk) 18:22, September 10, 2015 (UTC)
Oh, I see which car you meant now. And I had this image of the car off the card all ready to upload! Kenny HaarFager (talk) 18:30, September 10, 2015 (UTC)

Corgi Juniors Wiki?

Hello, I am Australiancarlover. Over the past few weeks, I have been grappling with my mind on he topic of creating a Wikia for Corgi Juniors cars. (You know, the British-built toys of the 1960s, '70s and 80s). Anyways, I have a few of those old Corgi cars and even though, my webcam is really crappy, I thought it might be a nice tribute to create a wikia for such an iconic brand in the world of die-cast cars.

I say, go for it! I created a wiki for Maisto diecast vehicles, so anything goes! Kenny HaarFager (talk) 02:06, September 8, 2015 (UTC)

Custom Tampos

Hi HaarFager! I've seen this Custom Sheriff Patrol (Arizona Border Patrol - 8324ef.jpg), and I want to Know how I can make my own tampos. You can help me? --Alatriste2003 (talk) 14:18, May 31, 2015 (UTC)

How I did it was to, in the case of this police car, find a good pattern of the original car from a photograph and recreate it in a photo editing program I have. Then I printed it out on some labels that are sticky and you peel off. After it's printed, carefully cut it out and stick it on. I had to do some test prints first using cheaper, thinner printer paper to make sure I had the decal the right size for the car. And that's how I did it! I hope this helps! Kenny HaarFager (talk) 23:33, May 31, 2015 (UTC)

Thank you very much! I want to transform a Matchbox '06 Crown Vic. into a NYPD cruiser. Regards. --Alatriste2003 (talk) 17:51, June 1, 2015 (UTC)

Wikia Staff Message

We make dozens of improvements to Wikia every week. Stay in the know by following our weekly Technical Updates. This message will expire on 20:14, November 26, 2011.

Let's not be so hasty about calling them "improvements." As we have seen here on the Hot Wheels Wiki, a lot of them turn out to be "dis-improvements," and not very useful at all. Kenny HaarFager 05:04, November 24, 2011 (UTC)

Rules and Guidelines

Kenny, I have created an Editing Rules and Guidelines page. The purpose of this page is help newcomers understand the precedent flow of the site rather then be devine law. It is not my attempt to be the sole creator of this page so if you could please look it over, and add, change as you feel necessary or just give some feedback. Thanks Sinnin  talk  Contributions 00:12, April 5, 2011 (UTC)

This is something we should have had long ago. Better late than never. We also need to make sure it's very visible on the homepage so that newbies can actually find it easily. HaarFager 20:31, April 5, 2011 (UTC)

I found this wikia and thought it may be of some interest to you Camerapedia. Enjoy!! Sinnin  talk  Contributions 12:56, March 4, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, David. I used to be a member of that site when it was a non-profit, open source for information. The original creator of the site sold out to Wikia and now they're making money off of everybody's images and work who thought they were uploading them for a good, free cause. It was just supposed to be a free web-source for information about cameras, now it's a commercial entity owned by Wikia. Lots of members that used to contribute to them have bailed, as have I, and removed our images. It probably won't last very long. However, now I'm a member of this website:

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to make this post. 1st time i'm attempting it so....

I have been making a few modest posts and recently noticed some of the pages are going outside their boundries with the table and the sideboxes are overlayed on the table. Ex: turbo mustang is one of the numerous pages I am using as a reference. I like the wikia because I can find reliable information from other collectors which I use for product descriptions in my online store. Keep up the good work guys. 0ldgeezer 01:32, November 12, 2010 (UTC).

The wikia brand has recently adopted a new skin for all the wikia sites. Currently this new skin is not working with our table layout. I have been trying to get help from the wikia staff. But thier rebutle is that the average wikia users have old outdated computers and therefore we are unworthy of a wider layout. Also speaking out against their "new and improved" product is pure blasphomy. There is one wikia site, WoWWiki, where it has been determined that the users have better then average computers, therefore they get a wider page layout... go figure. As for our wikia if you can make changes to help narrow the table, please do so. Otherwise we will just have to wait this one out. Sinnin  talk  Contributions 03:19, November 12, 2010 (UTC)

"Krocomodo" and "Kalus. Vandalism, bad joke or a mistake?

Hi Kenny. I just marked with "delete" pages "Krocomodo" and "Kalus". For show information that has nothing to do with any Hot Wheels variation any kind. At least I know. If I'm wrong, feel free to remove the mark. And of course apologize.

A greeting.Serralson 00:34, September 3, 2010 (UTC)

They are characters from the Battle force 5 Cartoon. Kind of pointless as stand alone pages but importsnt for a Battle force 5 section.... that we do not have! Sinnin  talk  Contributions 02:00, September 3, 2010 (UTC)

Sorry Everybody

I apologise to everybody on here because I haven't been doing much or adding any new items. But I seem to be being forced out of the Hot Wheels collecting hobby. The one store I have within 30 miles to buy Hot Wheels, (and every other kind of diecast I liked), has stopped ordering new cars. They haven't ordered any new ones since December 2009. I can't be a part of a hobby that I'm physically prevented from being a part of, so I don't know what to do. I'm certainly not able to buy cars off eBay, at ten times the normal price, and you can't order specific cars any place else online. I'm reading that this phenomenon is happening in other parts of the country, so I'm not the only one experiencing this. Does anybody have any ideas as to what could possibly be going on here? It's like I read over on Hobby Talk the other night - you don't go to a McDonald's and they say, "Oh, we're out of french fries right now." They always have french fries, it's the way businesses used to be run. Now, I go places and they just tell me things like, "Oh, nobody buys <insert whatever product you're looking for here> anymore." Could the reason why nobody buys those things anymore is because nobody sells them anymore? It's impossible to buy something that's not on any shelf, isn't it? Things are changing all around us. Any thoughts? Anybody? Kenny HaarFager 20:39, September 1, 2010 (UTC)

This news saddened me, and I worry a lot. Because if the country that gave birth to Hot Wheels, now no longer buy them. That we who live in places as far away as Spain???.Because if it is difficult to find some models of the regular series here in Barcelona. (I'm not talking about special series, why not come. Or very late and in short runs) I can only imagine if the manufacturing is curtailed or canceled. Hopefully it's something the market transition, and suddenly everything becomes normal. Meanwhile Kenny do not be discouraged. You're a great contributor, and a great person. And if I can help you from here to track possible "catch." Do not hesitate to ask. We are all a great community ....Best regards.Serralson 23:00, September 1, 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for your kind words, Serralson! I wanted to also add that my area never carried the special series. So, there have been a lot of good cars posted on here for this year that I would have liked to add to my collection. I personally feel that this has been one of the best years ever for Hot Wheels, in that they had a high number of the kind of cars that I liked the design of. Kenny HaarFager 00:00, September 2, 2010 (UTC)
Time to move to the city!! I cant help you with mainlines but I have about 30 cases worth of garage, delivery and speed machine cars that I would be more then happy to sell you at my cost (Kenny not the international guys) which is about 50 cents per car over walmart prices. Either way they cant take your photography hobby away from you! Sinnin  talk  Contributions 04:09, September 2, 2010 (UTC)
Move to the city, David!? That's their plan! And I'm not going to fall for it! True, I still have plenty of cars right here yet to photograph. Matter of fact, I'm photographing cars as I type this! Kenny HaarFager 04:43, September 2, 2010 (UTC)
Sorry to hear that, especially because of how much you contributed to this wikia! My suggestion, (NOTE: I have no idea if this helps you at all but it can be useful) Is to look EVERYWHERE for the cars, and, I mean EVERYWHERE! Try grocery stores, garage sales, dollar stores, second-hand stores and flea markets! These places usually work out well, as the other day I found a FE 599 GTB Fiorano and a Buggatti Veyron! DON'T GIVE UP!

As seen in the photo. And according to STD page. Your model corresponds to the version of the Porsche chrome P-911 w / Red & Lt. Green stripes on top, '911 'on hood, Black interior, Grey Tint Window, unpainted Hong Kong Base, w / RL' s. Corresponding to the 1976 Super Chromes Series.

Its nominal value would be: Loose and immaculate condition: $ 55. In its original card and in perfect condition: $ 75.

These ratings are unrestored original versions.

Although his condition is very sad. I recommend you try to restore it, since the result would be very satisfactory. And do not doubt that you could do it;)

A greeting. Serralson 15:15, August 31, 2010 (UTC)

Check out Baja Bug TH File.

I looked at it and seemed to make it worse (imagine that). However it is ,literaly Greek to me! Pirate4722 17:47, August 22, 2010 (UTC)

You only looked at it and it became worse? Worse in what way? Is that a new feature of the Wiki? The ability to change things with only looking at them? You said it was Greek to you, I thought Volkswagens were German? What exactly are you saying and where can I see this file? HaarFager 18:49, August 22, 2010 (UTC)
You can see it at the 2010 TH location. The pic was misplaced & I looked at the source file and it was writtin in Greek or ?
You always want to be so curt with me for some unapparent reason.I won't bother you again!

Pirate4722 22:13, August 22, 2010 (UTC)

What I was trying to say in my apparently confused manner, was that I couldn't understand what you were saying or asking of me. If you have any concerns or problems such as this, you're correct in bringing it to my attention. So, don't stop anything you're doing, just try to explain yourself better. You have to admit you did say you just looked at it and made it worse. What do you think I would make of that statement? Please don't stop "bothering" me, only "bother" me in a more clear manner. That's all I'm asking. You said two things, one about looking at a file, and then it being Greek to you. From that, it seemed to me that you were saying the file was Greek. Do you mean the file name? If so, you didn't make that very clear. Do you understand what I'm saying? Please let me know. Kenny HaarFager 22:27, August 22, 2010 (UTC)
How come I haven't heard back on this? It was something you felt you needed to bring to my attention and I responded right away that I wasn't sure what you were saying. You say I was curt to you. Would you rather I be rude? I can do rude, but prefer not to. I am here to be as helpful as I can be and EVERY time somebody brings something to me, I do my best to see what I can do about correcting it. How come it's always me that gets despised and hated on here? I try to be the most helpful and wind up being the most vilified. Well, thanks everybody for making me feel so wanted. Kenny HaarFager 23:52, August 24, 2010 (UTC)
When you see the "greek" mumbo jumbo file names it means the files were taken from Ebay (That is a literal translation). Next to STD images Ebay images are my second favorite to tag for deletion!! As for what ever else is going on in this topic, im going to just stay out =P Sinnin  talk  Contributions 11:48, August 25, 2010 (UTC)

Hi there!, how long has it been since the hot wheels wiki was created? SyndicateOfSpeed 13:39, August 9, 2010 (UTC)

Well, I'd say it was created about March 23rd, 2008. If you'll look along the left side of the page, there is a link marked "Special pages." If you click that, it will take you to a long list of pages and one of them is called "Oldest pages." That is how I found out how old the Hot Wheels Wiki was. I knew it wasn't very old and that I joined it after it had been created for only about 6 months. Hope this helps! Kenny HaarFager 13:58, August 9, 2010 (UTC)
I wasn't really looking for help, just interested! I thought you were one of the people who started this site!

I Know What's Going On

It's a big plot, right? Designed to get me to not like Hot Wheels anymore. First, my one store stops buying any Hot Wheels, none since December anyway, then I get strange e-mail alerts about files I'm supposedly watching that are just uploaded today and have no back history and therefore no way that I could have tagged them to watch in the first place. Who is behind this evil scheme? Kenny HaarFager 02:50, August 4, 2010 (UTC)

Too bad. At least you have access to all the cars in America! In Canada we never got the Ferrari 430 Scuderia!

-I have one anyways! SyndicateOfSpeed 21:35, August 6, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, HaarFager, If you like, I can make you a cool icon! Just post a pic. below and i'll post it on your page for you!

Thanks, but no thanks. This is basically an online encyclopedia not a social networking site. Therefore I do not require an avatar. Thanks anyway! Kenny HaarFager 14:10, August 2, 2010 (UTC)

Hi there, I was just wondering, what happens if you get banned? Can you still access you're page or not? can you look at HW wiki? can you edit things or see other peoples profile\messages? I'm pretty sure SINNIN will answer this since he is ALWAYS ON THIS "WIKIA" ;) SyndicateOfSpeed 16:27, August 1, 2010 (UTC)!

I'm not a hundred percent certain, but I think you can access the whole site fine, you just won't be able to change it in any way. Maybe someone can confirm this? HaarFager 22:03, August 1, 2010 (UTC)

RE. Parker/Edwards

There was a cutlery company back in the 70's & 80's by that name. They were located right here in "The Heart of Dixie".Although I doubt the two are related. Pirate4722 07:01, July 20, 2010 (UTC)

Maybe that's why the name sounded familiar to me! Thanks for that information. Kenny HaarFager 09:43, July 20, 2010 (UTC)

I don't believe I need to argue my case on this one. I request the immediate ban on user John Wilhelm Sinnin  talk  Contributions 20:13, July 10, 2010 (UTC)

I like to think it's not vandalism this user is performing, just misguided edits that he thinks are good. I've asked him to explain himself so that this can be worked out, but if he doesn't respond, I'll have no other choice but to grant him a short "vacation." Vacations are a good thing, right? I don't really like to get so drastic on users as banning them unless they get real mean and hostile like.... well, you know who. I am aware of what he's doing, though, but thanks for bringing it to my attention. I was gone a few days, so that's why this response is a little late. Sorry about that! I agree that the intentions may not be vandalism, But i like to use the word as a tell all description for an unacceptable edit. Sinnin  talk  Contributions 23:34, July 11, 2010 (UTC)
I've also noticed he's been screwing stuff up in the Matchbox Wikia, since it seems like I'm the only one that's been editing for the past two weeks, haha! I think he means well, but after multiple warnings it seems like he doesn't get the hint...User:RazoE
I think he speaks another language and that he don't speak no English none to good. So, I'm trying to take that into account in this particular situation. Don't forget me! I've been adding some good things to the Matchbox Wiki recently. Kenny HaarFager 18:37, July 13, 2010 (UTC)

Radar Ranger Question

I have taken new pics of my Radar Ranger (gear style wheels) for the page, but can not add them. I give permission to whomever has control of this section to use my pictures to replace the pics of the other R. Ranger with gear style wheels. I think it is only fair to say I had a little to do with this new change as I was the one who decided back a few months ago to put my pic in here with both sides showing. I was told then it didn't match the rest of the page, (it actually didn't..my fault) so it got removed....but I was never told that we were changing it to this new "sides" style! Who dropped the ball? Why wasn't I asked to contribute new pics? And while we are all here to make this the best wiki page we can - lets work together, shall we? I am not directing my anger just towards you, Harrfager - but I was told that you might have this page locked, so this is why I bring this discussion here. I left this same message on the Radar Ranger page as well. Pirate dave 12:09, May 31, 2010 (UTC)

You were right in bringing this topic to me. I am, after all, an Administrator, so thank you for bringing it to my attention. Like you, I feel we should all be working together, but sometimes a casting comes along that some particular member really loves and collects every variation of. Such as me and my love of the Deora II. Unlike me and my love of the Deora II, I don't remove pictures that are adequate and already in place to replace them with pictures of my own. Not saying that this is a bad thing, but it does happen. So, it could be why some of yours were removed - I don't really know, so I'm only speculating. Usually, if the new picture is all right and if the original photographer who's picture got replaced doesn't say anything, I'll leave the new picture up. There have been a few times when a new user will come along and replace a perfectly good picture with a perfectly awful one and I will bring this to their attention and replace the bad image with the original one. Not very often, but it has happened.
It's also a good thing that you're not directing your anger at me. Because I didn't do anything to anger you in the first place. A general consensus was reached about how to best display the Radar Ranger page, which included showing both different sides, so I implemented the change. I wasn't really in favor of the change, (I think either side would have been sufficient enough to show what it looks like), but more were, so I changed it. Perhaps the way it is now really does look better. I don't know but nobody else can definitely say either, so it stays. It's just a judgement call. But in this particular case, more judgements seemed to be for the change than against it, so it evolved into what it is today. Yes, I did lock it, but for a perfectly good reason. You shouldn't be getting mad over a decision an Administrator makes. I locked that page because it kept getting changed just to prove a point and that's not how it's supposed to work around here; as everybody surely knows by now. But, you have done what I feel is the best way to do things. You have requested more work to be done to a locked page. Being as I am an Administrator, I will do all I can to help you out with your proposed changes. If you can give me links here of the new pictures you want incorporated into the Radar Ranger page, and which ones you want replaced and removed, I will make the changes for you. Especially since, if I read you correctly, you're just improving some previous pictures that were yours to begin with. I don't know how many of my pictures I felt needed replacing and did so, but I upgrade shots when and where I can with what I feel to be better ones. So I applaud your efforts to improve your own work! Thanks! Just let me know where the new images you've uploaded are, give me the information as to which one's they are and where they go and which are the old images you want replaced, I'll do my best to incorporate them. Now, I can't see colors, so you'll have to be fairly descriptive about each and every image so that I can definitely know which ones they are. Kenny HaarFager 22:59, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
I thing "angry" is the wrong word. Annoyed is a better fit. It just seems everyone has these huge chips on their shoulders. It would be more beneficial if we could all play nice together. Anyway, the pics are saved in "new pictures" archive. They are:
They match very close to the way the rest of the radar rangers are presented now. Thank you. Pirate dave 01:37, June 5, 2010 (UTC)
If would a lot more helpful to me if you describe them just a little bit better than "Left-side-radar-ranger," etc. Like the year of release and series and such as that. It would help me to be more accurate in where to place them. Thanks! HaarFager 04:06, June 15, 2010 (UTC)

What's Up?

I'm back, and I have a question. Why won't the categories work at '67 Plymouth GTX page? Fclass 23:24, May 19, 2010 (UTC)

They work fine for me. Maybe it's an issue with your computer, sometimes things like this happen. Try signing out of the Hot Wheels Wiki, clearing your computer's cache and then restart and sign back in. That should fix it for you. If not, please detail exactly what it's doing or not doing for you again and I'll look into it even further. I tried the categories and they worked exactly like they should. I even added another one to see if that might be what you're reporting, but it worked like it should also. Try the steps above and if that doesn't work, get back with me on it. I'm about to head out of town shortly and I won't be back till after midnight or so, but I'll check back just in case. Thanks for bringing it to my attention! Before I can answer your new question, I'd just like to know if your problem with the categories has been solved? Are they working correctly for you now? Did anything I suggest help? As to whether or not people should be using pictures from hotwheelscollectors.com, no they should not. And when I see one that has been used, I remove it immediately. If you know of some you suspect to be used in this illegal and unethical manner, please point them out to me and I'll take care of them. Thanks again! Kenny HaarFager 23:03, June 2, 2010 (UTC)

Although I don't claim to be psychic like you Kenny, I got a funny feeling you think this is about being right or wrong, and it AIN'T!

It's not me being wrong, nor you being right that I care about. It's not my way or your way.
It's about what LOOKS best and easiest to decipher by the casual browser. If you persist in believing otherwise, and ascribe your own emotions to my actions, in spite of me clearly stating here, as clearly and succinctly as possible - it's not about whether I like you or not, it's your actions and what's best for the wiki in both design and credibility!
Unless there is a clear standard, and a bonafide rule come to by consenus (with options for adaptation) you should not be changing someone else's work. If you don't agree that what they did looks good and violates some clearly stated standard, you should offer the editor an option to polish it up himself, offer your own suggestions or polish it up yourself, but DON'T hack it into gibberish!

ranugad 13:54, May 12, 2010 (UTC)

Another thing Kenny, if you're not caught up, you should get there before reading this, If you insist this blow up is entirely my fault, I think you'll find, if you care to review the escalation of events, it was not I who first took off the gloves. I held my tongue, time and again. IN WRITINING! When you attacked me, and THAT is how I see it, I stood up and defended myself. If you don't like it, tough! And if you don't get it, I fight back!!! And fiercely! As fiercely as I did for your damn freedom to do this!! And I'm committed to fighting back, till death do I stop!!! THAT is a citizen/soldier, of which this country was founded by, and I share company with. What the hell have you done for the wiki but disrupt creativity with your outbursts (you too Dave - I STAND for the kids that desire to see the specs here at the wiki, I just don't know the best way to do it.)

So when you banned me at the drop off a hat, to me, you took away my freedom to respond! And again, I ask, how'd that work out for ya? Now you'll better understand me and maybe, just maybe, treat me with some respect or leave me the hell alone (and my work here)

The ONLY work of mine I want you to touch, is EVERYTHING if you can wipe it all, pictures and editing history, clean from the wiki, which I don't believe is possible at this point.

New Info

I have just uncovered, what I believe,is some interesting Info on AAR 'Cudas (Riehlman version) quite by accident. However in view of the veracity of multiple imagery recently, shoiuld I pursue the matter photographicly & verbally, or just verbally first? Many Thanx, and furthermore I'm not questioning anyone's sanity, except perhaps my own! Pirate4722 08:00, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

Well, you've certainly got my curiosity piqued! I think that AAR Cuda is a great casting, so anything you can tell me would be nice. Kenny HaarFager 09:55, May 3, 2010 (UTC)
Last night I was just looking for something or other to do with Phil Riehlman and wound up at the fact page about him on the WIKI.As I'm sure you are aware I happen to be am avid AAR 'Cuda collector.I was in the process of adding a pic when I looked at the car, which was driver side facing. The 'Hot Wheels logo' aft of the rear wheel, suddenly said PLYMOUTH ! I said What! This was one of the original Orange 1st version.I was using it to typify the series as it was the first one.I proceeded to discover the following. All orange AAR's with the Hotwheels Tampo on the passenger side Had Plymouth on the Driver side. All the ones with No tampo at all on the P.S. were blank on the D.S. as well. The Magenta s' follow the exact same nomenclature. The White,of which there are gloss & matte, that have the Plymouth Tampo on the P.S. have the same on the D.S. All the ones with the Hotwheels Tampo on the P.S. have Plymouth on the D.S.(just like orange & magenta) and I've never seen a white one with NO Tampo. Also can be said the same for the Green, only in the reverse.I've never seen one WITH any Tampo,at all.I looked at 16 that I have and it stuck right to the last one!As far as the white not having one at all or the green ever having one.I've been observing them on The bay for months.Trying to find one or the other.Actually, along with the 56 F-100's,I've been observing them for quite some time.Sorry abut the long read, but you know me.I rarely say anything in ten words that couldn't be said in three. Pirate4722 06:11, May 4, 2010 (UTC)
Very interesting find! It sounds like it's being done intentionally instead of errors of omission. Wouldn't you think so, too? HaarFager 10:15, May 4, 2010 (UTC)
Exactly.however their motivation is not clear.Perhaps it's just one of their little pranks. You know like on the rocket box,one tampo on the first side and another on he opposite.I'm sure there are a multitude of others. Some other, yet to be discovered.Much to my amazement was, that I had never noticed this one before.Another thought I had was that it might be a subtle method of tracking production runs.Who knows. One thing we are aware of is that the Hotwheels people are extremely quirky.Well one of these nights I'll have to make a photographic record of it,then find a place to list it.Probably in the gallery. That will be of your determination. Also while we are discussing this,I think the other versions, such as the Dan Gurney examples and the MOPAR performance set, should be integrated into the same page.Very similar to the way we have the 56 F-100s.That way they will all be visible in the same location but their differences noted. That way they will all be available for comparison purposes. That's why I said that I think that we have,at the present, the best format for the 56's at present they just need to compartment ed.The regular 70 Barracudas are separated into the two versions very nicely,Perhaps some method as such that.Well that's my report. In 10,000 words or less. Both these vehicles need to be more treated in a more cohesive manner (56's & AAR's) then I feel WE will have the best and easiest to access format of all. There are a many other Pages that we all need to cooperate and work in unison on,rather than arguing about who's right and who's wrong. After all,we are just a bunch of grown men, playing with Kids toys. Pirate4722 16:27, May 4, 2010 (UTC)
Hey, Hot Wheels came out in 1968 and I started liking and playing with them then. If I'm to be considered as an adult, (which I deny!), then these cars have aged as much as I have. I think they should be called "Adult toys!" It sounds better, ha! HaarFager 07:06, May 5, 2010 (UTC)
Alas,it seems nearly the whole world is in denial. However I do believe in some instances' Some of the Higher quality Hot Wheels are referred to as 'Adult Toys'.I'm not certain you saw the irony in what I said.By the way have you had time to assimilate the above post? If so what is your opinion?Pirate4722 08:03, May 5, 2010 (UTC)
"The whole world is in denial?" Not me, I deny that statement! Ha. I personally think that a casting which is essentially meant to be the same one by Mattel, but is in fact redone with new castings and which have some slight differences, looks good when displayed together on one page. That way, it's easier to see the subtle changes that differentiates the various molds used. We do have a precedent on the Wiki displaying what you propose, so I don't see anything wrong with doing it again for the casting you speak of. HaarFager 06:27, May 7, 2010 (UTC)
I said "nearly",mostly because I certainly didn't want to include myself,or you either, for that matter. That is excellent news. About the AARs'.Being a clear thinking young man,I felt fairly certain you would agree.More on that later.I just wanted to clarify the other statement for now!

Technical Specs comments and category talk

1st, I really hate the wiki for conversation. We should commander some section over at HWC - maybe more exposure will get more contributors over here. There's been some GREAT posts over there with info previously unreported. I especially enjoyed the HW Race deco team threads. Anyway... I remember seeing the editors of the specs puttin em on when they first started - not a project I would have started or really care about. At first I had no idea where they were gettin the info from - and again, I could care less if the stats were right or wrong, real or imaginary - because ultimately, (for me) this hobby is about the 1:64 scale cars, and if you track and shoot (with your Hot Wheel Radar gun) these cars, I SERIOUSLY doubt they'll be even close. (Especially when you flip the switch to register in scale.) And you're more than likely right about where the stats are ultimately coming from - Marketing, not engineering. The only reason I posted the spec pic was to let you know the editor himself wasn't makin the stuff up on his own. As for completing the addition of specs for every casting - I'm not interested, but to each his own and as long as it doesn't detract from the rest of the Wiki - I say let `em at it - there's more than enough room on the page for us all to play. bob ranugad 16:58, March 28, 2010 (UTC)

Hey BOB.I am of the opinion that in reality it does harm the WIKI.It severely distorts our credibility with the curios casual reader, observing this site, looking for credible information.Being unfamiliar with the WIKI, and probably an automobile enthusiast of some degree.Quite possibly a knowledgeable One.A glance at that absurdity will undoubtedly amaze him to the degree of Question-ability that he won't return a second time,or worse yet jokingly. Also this is not your WIKI,it's everyone's.With that in mind we should strive for more actual accuracy, rather than abjectness for our own sake.It is undoubtedly the hobby of more more than one non member observer. So lets impress them with our knowledge of these 1:64 cars, and not some obscurity unknown to most.Lets all enjoy the WIKI,in an atmosphere of camaraderie rather than discord. This,is more apt to attract more, and more responsible members. Valid points. But in the spirit of inclusion instead of exclusion, maybe for those wishing to see these stats on the catsing page, they can moved below the versions table, with a disclaimer/explanation concerning the origin of said stats. Personally I wouldn't go through it, but I also have no objections to them being included, front page or talk page.
back to the original subject of this section....
I'm messing with categories some more and came across an anomoly. I added Category: Track Stars to the Drift King page but it seemed to not be showing up on the category page, I thought it was like the shoe box and went looking for some coding error - found none. It took me awhile, but eventually I noticed it listed under the # sign on the category page. If you follow any of the categories the drift king is included in, it shows up there, and not under D where it belongs. Anybody got any ideas why this would happen? bob ranugad 00:12, March 29, 2010 (UTC)
Bob, the problem that you described with the Drift King sounded like something I was familiar with, so I went and checked it out. I found and fixed the problem immediately. The only reason the Drift King would show up in the "#" or number column was probably because somebody told it to show up there. For a number to display properly in the number column, a "#" has to be added before the name in the default sort code. It sounded like what was going on and when I looked, there was indeed a "#" before the name. What had probably happened was somebody copied the default sort name from another page, I do it all the time myself, and when they went to type in the new name, they forgot to remove the "#." I simply removed it and now it should be working correctly. Thanks for bringing it to my attention! Kenny. HaarFager 00:58, March 29, 2010 (UTC)
Excellent! Now I'll know when I see THAT! (as opposed to gallery screw ups - lol). I think we've been under utilyzing the category. Have you checked out the new category page I did for the X-Raycers? ranugad 01:05, March 29, 2010 (UTC)
No, I haven't seen the category page for the X-Raycers. How do I get there to see it? HaarFager 01:18, March 29, 2010 (UTC)
I actually started the X-Raycers before I did the Fourth of July and every casting page that was an xraycer needs to be tagged too. On the Xraycers page I was focused on getting every img. ranugad 14:46, April 6, 2010 (UTC)
I rushed that out this morning, it seems you can't actually creat a link to a category page. Except in the categories section at the bottom of every page. Right now this page falls under the X-Raycers and Fourth of July categories because I tried to link to them in the text above. I added the bold just now. The catgories should be deleted from this page when we're done. ranugad 04:18, April 7, 2010 (UTC)
I'd really like to help you on this, Bob, but I don't have a clue as to what you're talking about. I'm ill and have been sick for the last 5 or 6 days, so I've probably not got a very clear head. Some medicines will do that to you. Could you please explain what you're attempting to do and what you need me to help with? HaarFager 04:52, April 7, 2010 (UTC)
Sorry Ken, I thought you had a better grasp of the categories than I do. And since I'm still tryin to figure out how the category/sub-category thingy works, I'm not sure I'm ready to articulate this feeling I've been getting, as I rummage around the wiki, that we are seriously underutilizing its potential. And although I did stumble across a comment by you (or maybe it was brad) that another user (crs prevent me from naming said user) was told to not bother adding categories to image files. I had already tagged every X-Raycer picture with a category marking and when I called up the category page, there they all were, a little out of order, but there. I thought maybe you had noticed this work as I saw a comment by you on the Fourth of July category page, which I did after a few others, like Chuck e. cheese - and dangit CSS is the cause of capitalization error, which I'm unsure of how to fix beyond deleting each casting current category, then delete the category, then rename it. Which leads me to ask, have you seen the unused and sometimes redundant categories that have been created? bob ranugad 23:14, April 8, 2010 (UTC)
Sadly, I should have a better grasp on the Category aspect of the Wiki, but I rarely use the categories to find what I need, usually I'll use the links in the tables to get to the same kind of information. For instance: If a car was released one year in the "Surf Board Show Car" Series (Totally made up just to use as an example), true I could click on the category at the bottom and find out what other cars are also in the series. But, I'm a visual type of guy and prefer to click on the link usually provided in the table for the description of the "Surf Board Show Car" series and that will take me to a page that generally has all the cars pictured and every fact about them I need to know. People are real good on here about creating these special pages, and it's some I like to create also. Using the category pages just seems like an extra step I don't really need to do. To me, it's all about the cars so I like to see the cars.
But, to answer your question, I have seen what appeared to be redundant categories, but since I don't use them much, I'm reluctant to delete them because somebody else may be using those categories and it's something they like. I figure more categories don't hurt anything since they're listed toward the bottom of the page, but they might be helpful to have. So, I feel the more, the merrier! Anything to help people use this Wiki to it's fullest capabilities and to be able to find out what they need to know in the method that's easist for them. Just my thoughts on the matter. Finish What You Started

Hey Kenny.I notice a lot of times, when I'm adding a new version, that I have got to finish up the one before it. Most always the tampo is involved. I imagine that's because it takes a little more time than just adding a pic..I t seems to me that if someone is going to take the relatively short time to add the pic. they should take the flippin' time to do the whole job!! It's like they're saying, well my time's more valuable than yours you do it! Kinda' irritating, isn't it?.....That's all I've got to report. Pirate4722 06:03, March 27, 2010 (UTC)

I've noticed exactly what you describe many times. And, I've been guilty of just that crime myself. But I have a good reason for doing it. I can even have the car in front of me and will leave categories blank, hoping someone else has the same car and can provide the missing information. I'd rather leave the line blank, however, than fill in wrong information. I'm totally colorblind, you see. So, that's my excuse, but what's everybody else's excuse? It could be because they're not familiar with how things work on here or it could be laziness or something else. Maybe they'll see this point you've made and try to improve what they do. We can only hope! HaarFager 06:16, March 27, 2010 (UTC)
I too am guilty of this. Often I upload pictures at home, Then later make the line entries while im sitting at work and no longer have the car in hand. I like to be exact on all details, so if i am unsure I leave it blank. Then I usually forget to go back.... I have at least 500 cars to add, but i get so burned out making line entries and figuring out simple yet complete tampo descriptions that its nice to leave a little work for some of the others to do! Adding descriptions is a simple way for new users to figure the wikia out, since making a line entry for a first timer, can be enough to turn away good potential contributers. I know thats 2 completely different reasons but i use both =P Sinnin 11:39, March 27, 2010 (UTC)
Kenny u being colorblind explains alot. Those new troop convoy pictures are great, but that bright purple background with the dark olive green truck, is an interesting choice to say the least! (just giving you a hard time =P) Sinnin 11:47, March 27, 2010 (UTC)
A viable reason is acceptable,as opposed to a lame excuse.I'm not referring to things of that nature. However Laziness and disregard were what I had in mind.I'm certainly not trying to be enigmatic about this situation ether.A physical conflagration is another circumstance all together.Having just overcome a vision impairment myself,I can appreciate that.Even though in your case it seems to not be a handicap. As far as being simulating to a beginner,I can relate to that also,in a positive manner though. So with all things considered, perhaps it is just"The nature of The Beast".Also I would be extremely curious where one obtains the various vehicle "specs",found at the top of many articles.I also question the validity of Most of them.Oh well, that's all I've got to report. Pirate4722 20:55, March 27, 2010 (UTC)
I have looked a few specs up to try and confirm, it seems that there isn't 2 web sites on the web that list the exact same specs for any given car. as for the hot wheels designed cars. alot of the cards have some fun specs for kids on the back. Ranugad posted a pic, the first time i ranted about this rubbish. A good example of misleading tech specs is the hot bird, where it lists the firebird as having a 400CID engine pushing 415HP!!! that poor 77+ firebird with the pollution controls only managed to ever squeeze out a whimpy 185HP. there were also many other engine choices for that car, so just saying it had the 400 is a poor description. Category / casting fix needed

Hey Kenny, or anyone that sees this. I've been muckin about with the categories and found a few 2000 First editions missing the category on the casting page.

Check out the Shoe Box. Something weird is going on. Categories are there, yet not. bob

ranugad 06:09, March 23, 2010 (UTC)

I took one look at it and saw the problem immediately, Bob. Somebody had erased part of the coding for the Gallery section at the bottom of the page and it was causing strange things to happen. Somebody had moved the Default sort above the Gallery, I didn't look to see who, but since I was the one who added the Gallery and the one image in it, it happened after the Gallery was added. It's fixed now. Generally, I've found that when strange things are happening, it's usually part of some code missing somewhere. Thanks for bringing it to my attention! Kenny HaarFager 06:25, March 23, 2010 (UTC)
Hey Kenny.I may have done it when I added the 49 Woodies' everthing looked ok to me.Sorry if it was my fault and thanx for the new page! Pirate4722 16:17, March 23, 2010 (UTC)
It's easy to do, because sometimes it still happens to me. And I know why. For some reason, the Hot Wheels Wiki has a feature that, when you try to put the cursor over a certain amount of text, it extends itself to what it perceives to be the end of what you're trying to copy as a help. Generally, it's not a help because I'm not trying to select that much text. So, if a person isn't careful, too much text will be removed unknowingly. I wish there was a way to turn this feature off so that it would stop trying to "help" me! HaarFager 17:20, March 23, 2010 (UTC)
Oh, and about the new page I created - you're welcome! I just didn't know all the particulars about the cars. So, if you can tell the colors of the windows and stuff, and what kind the base is and all, you can fill in a few of the blank spaces I left. Thanks! HaarFager 17:22, March 23, 2010 (UTC)
It's a done deal! Pirate4722 17:37, March 23, 2010 (UTC)
I saw it, nice work! HaarFager 18:38, March 23, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the good words.I saw that shadow around the group of words and thought I cleared it. OOPS...More unauthorized thinking. Pirate4722 22:06, March 23, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, you shouldn't be doing any unauthorised thinking! Take the blue pill now. Ha. HaarFager 00:41, March 24, 2010 (UTC)

I don't know. I'll go ask Alice and get back with you on it. HaarFager 03:09, March 24, 2010 (UTC)
I saw the missing caret(sic) immediately once you made the edit. I tracked it back to an edit by the pirate but the category move was all me. bob ranugad 02:43, March 24, 2010 (UTC)

What Happened

Hi Kenny. How come you deleted the two 49's? Thay were from a different Series Than Surf's Up,and they were color variations.I thought variation and different set notations were cool.It might help some innocent victim, who isn't familier with that Car,or the HW Wlki.I was under the impression that this was an "info" oriented site.If that's the way Y'all want it,that's cool, you're in charge. Pirate4722 23:25, March 20, 2010 (UTC)

The reason I deleted the two '49's from that particular page was because it was only created to show the different station wagon models that Hot Wheels have released, not variations of the separate models. The original version, if possible, is all that is really needed to show that Hot Wheels has released that model of station wagon. Do you see what I mean? Each one of those different models may have been released in multitudes of different series, but that's not what the page is spotlighting. Just all the different models of stations wagons that have been put out by Mattel. My family had a station wagon when I was little, so you'll know why I created the page - I love 'em! I hope you didn't take offense, because it wasn't directed to you, just that only one was needed. I went with the first one listed is all. I hope this clears things up. Now, on the page for that particular '49 model, all versions are more than welcome, so be sure to add them there. HaarFager 04:05, March 21, 2010 (UTC)
Oh....OK,everything"s cool.I didn't take a personal offense.I just wondered what was Happentn'.Iv'e benn trying to add as many different versions as possible and give the different model sites as much continuity as I can. That's all.I guess you don't want your Station Wagon article 14 pages long.LOL.Man...you would have been happy as a Duck on a Junebug, if you woulda' grown up at my house. My Dad always had a Wagon and a Convert. One time he had a 57 Olds Convert.Silver with a White interior..It had three deuces on it.It was what they called a "J2" option.I hated the white interior.I got to clean the stitching on the white leather seats and door panels.WITH A TOOTHBRUSH!!!

Pirate4722 04:31, March 21, 2010 (UTC)

I'll bet that '57 looked nice, though! HaarFager 05:00, March 21, 2010 (UTC)

It Was Bad to the Bone! The old man would have a couple to many "Shnapps",you could get away with it back then,'Cops didn't bother you unless you were Fallen down,or hit somebody. He'd nail that thing and it'd almost put you in the back seat. You could here that Tri-Power kick in (progressive linkage). That was when I was in my formative years and grew up diggin' cars.Another thing,NO seatbelts either. In 55 He had a BLACK Nomad.Black and White interior.I don't rmember that one as well (8 yrs.old).Yeah Man....you woulda' been in Hog Heaven.

Coding Question

Danny, do you know of any code a person can add that would make it possible to leave little "notes" in tables without the notes actually showing in the tables, but only showing when you're in the edit table view? It's for the Hot Wheels Wiki, and I think it would be a great thing to have on each line for each car's description what the line is for. This way, you won't have to keep scrolling back up to the top of the table to see which line is for which entry. If you know what I mean. HaarFager 23:08, February 23, 2010 (UTC)

Hi, Kenny! I'm posting this back here so it's easier for you to find it. Sure, I can show you how to to put notes into a table. Here's an example, using a row from the '47 Chevy Fleetline table.
| <!-- Col #    --> 028
| <!-- Year     --> 2004
| <!-- Series   --> 2004 First Editions #28
| <!-- Color    --> Metalflake Lavender
| <!-- Tampo --> Black and White tampos on top and hood, "Hot Wheels" logo on rear fender
| <!-- Base     --> Chrome / Plastic
| <!-- Window   --> Smoke
| <!-- Interior --> White
| <!-- Wheel    --> LW
| <!-- Toy #    --> B3538
| <!-- Country  --> Malaysia
| <!-- Notes --> Has a matching painted visor over the windshield
| <!-- Photo    -->

The stuff that you put between those marks won't show up in the table. So... kind of a pain to change lots of tables to that format, but you're right -- it'll make it a lot easier to edit a 13-column table!

I hope everything's going great here. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help! -- Danny (talk) 09:05, February 24, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, Danny, this will help a lot! HaarFager 10:57, February 24, 2010 (UTC)

New Versions

Hi Kenny, this is the OLD but not to wise,Pirate4722.I wonder if you would let me know how to add a new version to an existing page? I just asked Hotwheels1999 but I don't like to impose my ignorance on the regular members.I have some additions to make but I'm afraid I'll mess up the page,I almost did last time.Much obliged to youPirate4722 16:12, November 25, 2009 (UTC)

Here's how I do it. I'll click on the link at the top of the page you want to add a new version that says "Edit this page." Then, I find the coding that covers one whole version of the car. It doesn't matter which one, if there are more than one. I'll copy it and then paste it where I am going to add the new version. This has the advantage of already having most of the code written for most versions. You just change the words to correctly reflect the version you are adding. Be sure to remove the old, copied photo name if you aren't adding a new image and just the description. (I don't know how many times I forget this step!) Hope this helps! HaarFager 17:22, November 25, 2009 (UTC)
Thanks a lot,I'll give it a shot! Ya'll sure make it SOUND EASY!!Pirate4722 18:49, November 25, 2009 (UTC)

Thank you Kenny.The same to Ya'llPirate4722 21:53, November 25, 2009 (UTC)
Sinnin's 2 cents....after you click the "edit this page" you will see the editing tools. to add the lines like kenny said you need to go to the page code. on your top right under the "controls" you need to click "view wikitext" then you will see the code. A horizontal line entry looks like the code below, just copy the line entries that look like...
|2009 [Exclu Hot Wheels 10-Pk]]
|Flat Brown
|Beige, Black and Red tampos "Wayne's Fix-It-Fast Garage Since 1971" inside of Red Oval, w/"Hot Wheels" logo
|Chrome / Plastic
After you copy it place it in the order where the new version goes. Now is a good time to replace the old image name with your new image name (there on the bottom line. From here you can change all the info to reflect the new version or you can click the top right button again to take you back to the editing tools your familiar with. Sinnin 03:47, November 26, 2009 (UTC)
Thanx Sinnin, that's a lot more than two cents worth,I appreciate all the help I can get!
I'm just an old yutz that ain't as computer savvy as you all.I tried to do a 57 earlier and lost the pic.It was supposed to upload but I guess it didn't.I used to be able to do it that way.Maybe that was one of those things that changed.Anyhow,Happy turkey day to ya'Pirate4722 04:13, November 26, 2009 (UTC)
To simplify the learning the process try using the Hot Wheels Wiki:Practice Page I set it up to be show where you need to copy the code. (unfortunately the page works a little different that normal !?!? perhaps an Admin can fix that!) Sinnin 05:01, November 26, 2009 (UTC)

2010 Race World City Series

Hey Kenny, I have been trying to keep the year out of all new series pages, with the exception of those that repeat over multiple years. So if you have no objections, I'd like to change your new page, which is great by the way, to just Race World City Series. BigBadBrad01 19:21, November 19, 2009 (UTC)

Well, that would be fine until they reuse the name for a different series. And they will reuse the name. The only problem with changing it to just "Race World City Series" is this: Enter "Race World City Series" in the search box at left and watch what comes up. Then enter "2010 Race World City Series" and see what comes up. Two different pages. That's why I tried to forestall any search issues or confusion by naming it with the complete "2010 Race World City Series." Try it and then get back with me. I don't really care what it's called because I can use any name for the link to get to it on my user page, so it could be either way and still work. HaarFager 19:55, November 19, 2009 (UTC)
I just thought of something else, Brad. What if they use this series in 2011? Then, you'd have to go back and change it and add the year like you said you were doing with other series pages that are used in multiple years. Just trying to think of everything so we can come to the right conclusion and set the precedent. HaarFager 20:22, November 21, 2009 (UTC)
You never got back with me, Brad, on the results you got when you tried searching for the two different names like I suggested. You did understand what I was saying, didn't you? I hope I wasn't too obtuse. HaarFager 04:21, January 16, 2010 (UTC)
Hey Kenny, good to see you back. I read what happened with your mom. Sorry to hear. I hope your family is doing better. With the issue still at large. I think you may be onto something. Lets try it your way from here on out. BigBadBrad01 07:34, January 16, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for your kind words, Brad. It's getting better all the time. HaarFager 07:55, January 16, 2010 (UTC)

I'm new here. I just came from hotwheelscollectors.com and saw a new series called Speed Machines for 2010. Is that available here? Rtype5 15:52, November 10, 2009 (UTC)

Fclass Again

Please delete I Have a Question?. There's no reason for it to exist. I also recommend redirect 2009 Hot Wheels Colr Shifters to Hot Wheels Color Shifters because it has 2008 and 2010 models. One more thing, Mgoch created De Lorean from some 2001 set. Redirect to '81 DeLorean DMC-12. Fclass 15:06, November 2, 2009 (UTC)

I have placed the question on the "I Have A Question" page on the user's talk page who asked it. That's where it belongs. As to the Color Shifters, just take the 2008 and 2010 references and move them to their respective pages. If they don't exist, create those pages because we need them to exist. And about the DeLorean.... after a little research, I have found that Hot Wheels did release three different versions of the DeLorean in 1991, each based on one of the three "Back To The Future" movies. Therefore, it is a different casting of the same car and should by all means have it's own page. I have moved it, however, to what I think is it's correct name of DeLorean Time Machine. That's so it doesn't get confused with the new 2010 casting of the same car called '81 DeLorean DMC-12‎. Hope this clarifies things for everybody! Thanks, Fclass! Just Learning

Thanx for the 411,Kenny.As a matter of fact,I do have a couple questions.I've got some cars that are not shown in existing entries. You know, like a different car or a variation. That's what I was trying to figure out when you picked up the category thing,I guess.I never did figure out how and abandoned the project before I loused anything up.Also,I think my pics.were wrong somehow and Brad had to straighten them out.I'm a rookie right at the moment (duh) however I want to do this correctly. So, don't hesitate to correct,I'm cool with it.Gotta' learn somehow,I'm 62 and I guess I'll learn this the same as everything else!!

That's how I learned, too! As to some of the cars you have that you think are variations or different in some way, I say go ahead and upload them and at least put them in a Gallery on the page for that particular car, if you're not sure. Maybe somebody will recognize it and know more about it. You could always caption them with something like "Suspected variation," or something to that effect so that people will know there's some question as to it's identity. I hope this helps! I like to see any and all pictures, so upload all you want! You can visit my user page to see some of the pictures I've uploaded - I just love Hot Wheels! HaarFager 15:41, November 1, 2009 (UTC)

And then publishing it here without any references. I have put in over 3800 hours (and still do about 50 hours a week, researching and publishing data and updates on our club's website. And now it's showing up here without any citations or references. -Rob South Texas Diecast Collectors

These are the links that were sent to me via email.
I checked it out and verified that the descriptions were word for word.
I also sent an email to the wikia community support about this.

It was me. I wasn't trying to steal your work. I was just adding versions to the pages. I should have added you as the reference. I'm sorry. It's not personal. Me not referencing you was an honest mistake. If you want to ban me, go ahead. Fclass 18:29, October 29, 2009 (UTC)

You won't be banned Fclass. I understand it was an honest mistake. I'm leaving it up to Rob as to what he wants to do. things. Thanks again for looking into this for me. -Rob

Could delete ??? An article for the car was made. Fclass 17:02, October 24, 2009 (UTC)

Done! Thanks for notifying me! HaarFager 03:57, October 26, 2009 (UTC)
While I'm at it, please delete WSCOTTS. I added it to the Tampo page. Fclass 15:46, October 26, 2009 (UTC)
That's done, too. Thanks again! HaarFager 18:26, October 26, 2009 (UTC)
Could you also delete 2006 Ultimate Track 3-Pack Cars? Someone didn't add any information on it and I don't have any. Also, are there other administrators besides you and BigBadBrad01? Fclass 14:22, October 28, 2009 (UTC)
It shouldn't be deleted just because it doesn't have any information on the page yet. Someone might come along that knows about those cars and be able to fill it in. An Administrator would know this. Yes, there are other Administrators besides Brad and I. HaarFager 14:44, October 28, 2009 (UTC)

Pictures of some designers

I recently went to the Hotwheels Collectors Convention. I only went to get autographs and it worked out just fine. Along with the autographs, I took pictures of the designers who were signing. My question today is: Would it be alright to post the pictures on the pages for the designers? Since they are in a very public place signing, I see no reason why I could not put a picture of Phil Rielhman on the page with his design of the Drag Bus, or his Dairy Delivery page. Let me know, Thanks

I don't see any problem with it. BigBadBrad01 20:47, October 11, 2009 (UTC)
Could you add a Gallery to Larry Wood, Phil Riehlman, Howard Rees, and Dave Weise? Thanks!
Just insert this text into the coding at the bottom of the page you desire to add a gallery to. BigBadBrad01 07:23, October 12, 2009 (UTC)
  • <gallery>File:(INSERT FILE HERE)</gallery>
Oh, I see Brad explained how to do that. I added them in before I refreshed my user page. Well, they're there anyway, ready to fill in. HaarFager 07:50, October 12, 2009 (UTC)
I comment on this because I care about the integrity of this website. Fclass 15:05, October 12, 2009 (UTC)

Stud Muffin

WOW, check out this stud muffin, BigBadBrad01. I figured I'd also give a face to the name so I am not this horrible dictator. LOL. BigBadBrad01 08:35, October 7, 2009 (UTC)

Well, Mr. Muffin, that's not at all what I pictured you to look like! I imagined a 3-piece suit and a briefcase! Well, at least now I know what you look like! Thanks for posting that picture! HaarFager 08:38, October 7, 2009 (UTC)
Ha ha, you're welcome. I'm not an attorney yet, so until then, no 3-piece suits. BigBadBrad01 08:42, October 7, 2009 (UTC)
But, I'll bet you've got your eye on some spiffy pin-striped suits, though, eh? HaarFager 08:46, October 7, 2009 (UTC)

Another "Small" Request

  • Could you add a Gallery to "Corvette C6"?
  • For the persons (pretty much only designers at this time) that are entered into the database, could you enter them in the index by both their first and last name? Not all the designers are known by their first name. As things progress in this database, there may even be a need for a separate "Designer Index".

This last week I went to look up Riehlman to see what I could find to take to the Hotwheels Convention for autographs. There is no Rielhman, Phil, only a Phil Rielhman. Even the newest of collectors know Larry Wood, so I cannot use that as an example. It's no problem for us old guys, but I guessing most of the users here are of the newer collector type and will use it for reference more than me. I will be adding more information than I am looking for, and I am very happy to do so. Thanks again, Paul

Okay, I've added the Gallery to the Corvette C6 page. As far as making the designer's name more easily to find, I think it would only involve creating a page with "Rielhman, Phil," then redirecting it to the proper page. That way, whichever way a user searches for a designer, it will be easy to find. I'll try to get around to doing that tomorrow. Thanks for alerting me to these! HaarFager 22:29, October 5, 2009 (UTC)
  • The pages are already there and fine. Only additional links are needed in the Index.
  • Along the same line of thought, the '65 Mustang Fastback has been renamed Ford Mustang Fastback on the newest card.

Thanks, Paul

You said "Only additional links are needed in the Index." I'm not sure which index you mean and additional links for what and to where? If this index lists all the designers, what other links are needed. And about the new name for the '65 Mustang Fastback, the variation of the name is usually noted in the "Notes/Variations" column on the original page. Hope this helps. Could you merge Computer Warrior and Phantomachine? It's the same casting with different names. Fclass 21:29, October 2, 2009 (UTC)

I will look into and see which one should go where. Right now, I have company coming over tonight, I have to work all day tomorrow, (9 a.m. to 1 a.m.), then Sunday I watch football all day (my only day to relax!), so please don't think I've ignored this request. It's just that I don't get much computing time on the weekends. I'll have to research to see which casting came out first. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and I will do it, I promise! HaarFager 22:07, October 2, 2009 (UTC)
Okay, Fclass, I have it all done! Thanks for bringing it to my attention! HaarFager 22:21, October 5, 2009 (UTC)

We Have A Problem

Fclass is telling the new editers not to edit on this wiki and calls them vandals. please do something about fclass. Hellers4

It has been taken care of. BigBadBrad01 19:09, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
I keep telling Fclass to not worry about what others do, just have fun with it himself. Maybe these 3 days will give him time to step back from it and reflect a little. It's supposed to be about the enjoyment of Hot Wheels. Just think back when you got your first one and the great feeling you had and use that when working on the Hot Wheels Wiki. I think this is good advice for anyone. It works for me! HaarFager 20:32, September 28, 2009 (UTC)

New User Interface

Hey Kenny, What do you think of the new user interface? It tells you how many edits you have made and it tabs your user page, talk page, blog & contributions. Pretty crazy, I thought it was just an admin thing but then I saw it when I wasn't logged in. BigBadBrad01 23:21, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

Brad, I wish they would just stop already. See my comment for Rich Text Editor just below. It seems like the Hot Wheels Wiki looks different every time I open it and I seem to spend half my time always relearning everything. That can't be very productive or time effective. Who do we petition to see if they'll stop "changing/upgrading" everything all the time? HaarFager 03:22, September 24, 2009 (UTC)

2,3,4,5,6,10,20 car set category

I am sure you have enough to do without my suggestions, but you may think it would be easier down the line. The little cars have come out in a variety of sets, as a set of 2,3,4,5,6,10,or 20. Although some of us "older" guys learned, only the 5-pack was known as the Gift Pack.

The request/suggestion is to put a few more names in the category list (Browse the Hot Wheels Wiki by Letter) on the Hotwheels Home page on Wikia in a way the sets could be found/added to more easily. In the category for #, add: 2-car set, 3-car set, 4-car set, 5-car set (Gift Pack), 6-car set, 10-car set, and 20-car set.
In the category for S, add: set 2-car, set 3-car, set 4-car, set 5-car (Gift Pack), set 6-car, set 10-car, and set 20-car to link to the same pages.
In the category for G, change the Gift Pack to Gift Pack (5-pack).

In both category pages (# and S), the set names will be next to each other and easier to find. As the site becomes more popular, more members will want to share pics & info on the zillion older sets that are not 5-car Gift Packs and are unique cars.
Instead of generating the pages singly as they are requested over time, maybe you could set up a page for them and replicate for all the varieties of set sizes. This would also establish a standard for the categories of cars in sets.
By the way, when you Browse to Gift Pack (which most collectors do not recognize), it takes you to 5-Packs, which is a name that is not in the Browse area under the # category or anywhere else.
I know you will let me know what you think. Thanks, Paul.

Thanks! All I'm asking is that you try to have fun with it. If you come up with an idea or have a problem with anything, please don't hestiate to e-mail me personally if you want to, I'll be more than glad to listen! My personal e-mail is haarfageAThamiltoncom.net. (Be sure to remove the "AT" and replace it with the "@" symbol.) I have to say you've been doing a lot of important work with the categories at the bottom of each page, something that I'll admit I'm not very good at. I've made a lot of good friends here on the Hot Wheels Wiki, I hope we can be friends, too. I apologize right now if I have been in error over anything with you. Thank you for fixing the picture for ECTO 1. I used to work on web sites a few years ago and I thought I could add that picture. But by the time I added it I didn't know how to place it in the right place. I'll have to read more on the this site and learn how to update a site better.

My bad (sorry!!!)

Hey guys, this is SyndicateOfSPeed and I want to say that that I apologise for what I said! 1. I have ALWAYS joked with friends ect. about the "wienermobile" and how it looks like a P*****!, also how it would be fun to drive it through a tunnel!!! anyway, no worries!! no more slang profanity

2. The '70 Ford Gran Torino, what a beauty!!! I LOVE MUSCLE CARS!!! When I saw this car in the 10 pack at my local crappy Canadiann Wal-Mart I was super-excited! The Torino is awesome! I love how it's lowered and how it has the Louvres! so on to HW wiki and...... only available in the 10 pack..... OHHHHHHHH I was mad!

anyways, sincere apologies for the comments, especially if they offended anyone?

PS: Anyone found the '95 McLaren F1 GT-R yet?? I want one bad! BEST CAR IN THE WORLD FOR OVERALL PERFORMANCE!

PS (again) : anything to do with customs ask me!

Your Car

Holla! (I love funny openings)

Your car...

As an admin. for HW Wiki i thought, well, you would have a cool car, or an old one!

Here are some tips to make it awesome!

1.Add a 450 BHP Holley Blower AHH YEAH! 2.Add a HKS Exhaust DANG! 3.Re-Program the Comp. Chip with a SuperChips programmer VERY NICE! 4.Paint it metallic cobalt blue 5.Add a full body kit form RKsport America.

DONE! Total cost $5000 ex. (My uncle owns a garage and has a Custom 1964 Galaxie NO LIE Ill post some pics. soon)

When im old enough to drive I get my moms old '99 Nissan Altima Sport YEEEEE HAWWWWWW!

SyndicateOfSpeed - if this was message you said I hadn't responded to - I just didn't know what to say. If you've got $5,000 to give me, I can redo my car just like you suggest. But right now, I don't have the money, so it'll stay just stock. I kind of like it that way, anyway! Ha. I see where you'll be inheriting your Mother's Nissan. A hotrod Nissan - now that'll be great! Read More feature

Kenny. You may have noticed the Read More feature at the bottom of each page. Wikia will disable this feature if requested, as long as we have a majority vote on the topic. Please visit the Read More feature page and add your vote! .... I know you like new sections at the top, but the talk topic feature places it at the bottom automatically Sinnin  talk  Contributions 09:21, February 2, 2011 (UTC)

David, I found a neat trick that works for me, so I guess I wasn't aware that the Wiki software automatically adds them at the bottom. But, what I do is to go into the top most comment to edit it, then scoot it down and add a new title with two equal signs at the beginning and end of the title, type what I have to say, then save it. It shows that it's saving a change to the old title you opened, but it ends up saving it at the top as it's own new subject. That's how I always get it at the top. If it was up to me, I would disable practically all the automatic Wiki "helpful" features such as this! I added my vote over there as well. Thanks for clueing me into that vote. New test feature: Classifieds

Hi there! I'm Dopp, a member of Wikia's Community Support Team. Today we're enabling a Classifieds system on your wiki as a test feature (you'll see it in the sidebar of article pages). This is an early stage test -- we just want to see how it works -- so please bear with us for a few months while we evaluate its potential. If you love the feature (or hate it, or wish it was better), let me know! You can leave feedback on my talk page. Thanks for maintaining such a great wiki! --Dopp WikiaStaff.png (help forum | blog) 22:20, June 7, 2011 (UTC)

Are you saying that if a consensus is reached on the Hot Wheels Wiki that we don't like it and want it removed, it will disappear? If not, don't waste my time any longer with asking my opinion. If it will disappear, if we do happen to decide we don't like it, then I applaud your efforts. We'll see. Kenny (a lowly Administrator on the Hot Wheels Wiki) HaarFager 03:08, June 8, 2011 (UTC)
Hello out there.... It has been two weeks and I still have not received a response to this question. That kind of shows me how much the Wiki Gods really value our opinion on things. HaarFager 20:24, June 22, 2011 (UTC)

Newcomer's Question

I love the idea of a collaborative web-site where information can be shared. However, I also need an individualized database for my collection. Is it possible to insert a field underneath each user's preference indicating "owned" or something similar? Then possibly a downloadable function of only "my collection"? Would love to start uploading my collection (20K+ cars) and the associated information to this web-site, but if I can't tell what I have and don't have, it may not be worth it. Thanks for time and read. James Eric 02:05, July 25, 2011 (UTC)

That sounds like a nice project, if you can figure out the logistics of it. You might have to go at it in the "My contributions" page. You could identify each contribution that was, in fact, an image you had uploaded. That would be an interesting thing to do. The only downside I could see would be I don't think there are too many image holes that need plugging, so it might be hard for you to find a need on here to upload 20 thousand images. But, then.... if you just save all the images you upload in a separate folder, like I do, you would have all your images at your disposal to do with what you needed to do. Please let me know how it works out for you, I'm interested in the results. Kenny HaarFager 04:27, July 25, 2011 (UTC)

Vandal on Matchbox Wikia

Hello Kenny, I left a message on the Matchbox page, but it seems as if you frequent this wikia more. User Hepcik keeps editing GOOD photos with his own photos, just for the sake of having his name on the page. There has also been times where he will edit his own photo (which was actually a GOOD representation of the vehicle), to a worse looking example. Please take care of it, as he has started uploading images telling me not to edit his photos http://matchbox.wikia.com/wiki/File:RazoE.JPG

Please let me know what can be done, thank you RazoE 15:57, September 16, 2011 (UTC)

Sorry it's taken so long to answer, but I've been out of town. I took care of the problem over on the Matchbox wiki. We'll see if a three-month vacation doesn't give him time to think about things. Kenny HaarFager 04:47, September 20, 2011 (UTC)

User Problems

Hey Kenny, We've got a problem user here. Could you please help me out on this one? It is well known here that we are not allowed to post South Texas images. HWC images are frowne upon as well. We've got a user running rampant here posting images that are not their property. I've got suspicion that every image posted by him is NOT his property. I posted on his talk page earlier. He's been here since so it is assumed that it was read. Here is a link. I'm looking for a ban here.[[]]http://hotwheels.wikia.com/wiki/User_talk:Paulo188 Thanks for your help! Tszuta | Talk 22:40, November 20, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for bringing it to my attention, Tony. I've taken care of it. I blocked Maelstrom by accident, (I don't know why it always happens that way when I go to block somebody else), but I removed it and told him about my mistake. Kenny HaarFager 05:21, November 24, 2011 (UTC)

Hi Kenny: I saw your post on my page about the logos. Not a problem, I just won't use any logos on my posted pics. That should solve any problems or disputes. I wasn't trying to cause any problems, just thought it would be cool to design up some different looking pics of my hot wheels. I'll just avoid the use of any logos. Dan SFXMan45 01:41, January 10, 2012 (UTC)

Dan, I actually went and looked at one of your photos you had done up and thought it was quite tasteful! I could tell you were doing it out of the love of the cars, and that's what matters most. I didn't feel you were doing it to infringe upon the logo holder's rights. It made me think that those companies surely wouldn't have a problem with something like that, so maybe I'll rethink my position and say if a company does object to a certain image, we'll be more than obliged to change said image. If nobody complains, I say keep up the good work! Thanks for responding! That's another reason why I wanted to wait before we came to a definite decision on this matter - I wanted to get some more opinions thrown out there first. Thanks again! Kenny HaarFager 04:43, January 10, 2012 (UTC)

Sr, i´m not american.. i hope this don´t be important...

i love hot wheels, since i was 10... and since aways, my life is nothing elses.. unless cars...

i have some contributions to do, and i follow this wiki a long time ago, and i didn´t know that i could help it..

my opnion about SFXMan45 stills... i think its soo much superficial... it´s like "i want to be a star"..i don´t konw who he is.. it´s not about his person... i don´t like his work.. only..

i´m not here for change nothing, even do some polemic or something bad... really sorry if i do something wrong.

i hope that my future contributions help this wiki to be, or help still a number one refering for collectors.

best regards;

Thanks HaarFager for the comments you left on my page.Like I told WikiWoman and Tszuta, I didn't think it was her that left that, WikiWoman is well spoken and that message didn't make sense. I uploaded 3 or 4 moe pics after reading that anyway, and I do appreciate the support I have gotton from you 3, thanks again

2012 Hot Wheels Racing - Muscle Cars

I was wondering where we should be placing the NEW 2012 Hot Wheels Racing - Muscle cars. I see the 2012 Hot WHeels Racing Muscle cars have their own listing. I just purchased a case of the new Muscle series and I don't know where to put them. 0ldgeezer

Without knowing everything about them myself, one place you could definitely put them, is if each model already has a page for the car, you can put up pictures and descriptions on their respective pages. This would get them on the Hot Wheels Wiki for all to see. Hope this helps. Kenny HaarFager 21:10, February 16, 2012 (UTC)

I posted this on Sinnin's talk, but he seems inactive so a direct copy and paste (W/ new date): Hello, I don't often post on Wikis I haven't seen but about a month ago I found a car in a charity shop called Hot Rodney for 10p. I can tell it's hotwheels because A. It has RL wheels and 2. STD says it's Hot Wheels. But I can't find A page for it, and it had four names in 1972. So I am a little bit confused. Can you help me? HammerbroZ 17:36, May 14, 2012 (UTC)

According to my sources, Sir Rodney Roadster was a brand new casting for 1974. So, the 4 different names in 1972 confuses me. Where did you get that information from? Click on the link I posted of the name of the vehicle and you should find out everything there is to know about this casting. Apparently, they only used it until 1977 and it's never been used again. Hope this is what you're looking for. Kenny HaarFager 18:24, May 14, 2012 (UTC)
One extra note - where did you find this name, "Hot Rodney?" Was it painted in the tampo design or on the base? I'd be curious to see what this vehicle and base looked like. HaarFager 18:33, May 14, 2012 (UTC)
Sorry for not replying in ages, didn't notice you'd replied. I got the 4 names info from South Texas Diecast and it says they used all names in 1972 (could be wrong) in the Farbs. I found the name on the base. Also that's not it, it's a man with wheels on his feet and hands with an engine on his back. Also I accidently named a variant, mine is a Myles Ahead. His suit is yellow with a pink helmet and pink stripes on the suit. Also a quick google search for "Myles Ahead" gives a few pictures of it.HammerbroZ 16:17, May 25, 2012 (UTC)

Hey dude thanks for correcting a mistake.

Care to contibute a few cars to the Original Hot Wheels Identification?

WeAreAllDisturbed 01:47, June 25, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for asking! I have added a little info. It's just that I don't know much about what they were based on, so I don't have much to add. But, it's an interesting page. HaarFager 02:18, June 25, 2012 (UTC)

Very Sorry

I am very sorry about the Edsel Issue, but so you support Ideas too, such as an Idea Category where you can come up with your own idea for a video game or a diecast.

WeAreAllDisturbed 04:57, June 28, 2012 (UTC)

Oh, yes! I think I've come up with at least one idea for a diecast piece that Hot Wheels liked then used. I created this image about one and a half years before the '64 GMC Panel was released:
1962 Chevrolet Panel Truck Custom - 5584if.jpg
I think they saw my custom and thought it should be done. Several contacts of mine saw it and thought so as well. HaarFager 01:34, June 28, 2012 (UTC)
Could we actually add a page where we can put an idea for example Ideas: Hot Wheels Dead Or Alive which sounds like a good name for a Hot Wheels Racing Game, plus the "Ideas:" intro to show that it's just a simple idea and it's not real.
WeAreAllDisturbed 04:57, June 28, 2012 (UTC)
I'd say that would be possible, although what you should do is put on your user page so people can actually get to it and see it better. HaarFager 11:22, June 28, 2012 (UTC)
Ok I'll do that!
WeAreAllDisturbed 18:52, June 28, 2012 (UTC)

Hey Kenny,

There are some pages out there that don't fit correctly - they appear under the side column. I know that you fix these when you come across them. I'd like to help but I don't know what you are doing to make the changes. It appears that you are changing the column widths of certain cells, but when checking the cell properties I don't see any changes.

Here is an example of a page that needs an update. '67 Shelby GT-500 (2008)

If you could walk me through 'updating' it, I'd appreciate it.

I adjusted some table coding on the Matchbox Cars Wiki, but I think those were only like 5-Pack and 10-pack pages where the table wasn't as wide the casting page table coding appears to be. I'm not sure how it's done, but I'd be almost certain it's in the first line of coding for the table coding sequence. There's the place to experiment with, if I were you. Help With Location

Hey Kenny,

I was at Walmart last night and found a car called Rodzilla. It happens that this car is a 'special' series. On the bottom of the card it reads 'Year Of The Dragon Edition'. Where on the 2012 page should I list this? I will add it to the Rodzilla page but I feel it should show up on the 2012 listing as well. Please let me know your thoughts.

By the way, I don't know how the category 'Pages With Broken File Links' got added to your talk page. I apologize.

You didn't do anything to make it appear, Tony. I looked into it and it only appeared after PARANOiA 12 added some kind of "barn star" comment. Somehow, his coding or whatever he did caused this spurious category to appear. I'm going to have to look into it further. HaarFager (talk) 05:42, August 2, 2012 (UTC)

Unidentified Hotwheel

Thanks. Can I ask you something ? I got this hotwheel it is a submarine if i not forget iit named Stingray. The cover is pretty wierd it has japanesse language on it . i just wondering is this hotwheel a real hotwheel or this is a fake hot wheel ? This Is The Picture Of The Diecast :

IMG 1940.jpg

The Cover Has Long Lost Sorry... Do You Have Any Idea ?? IkiPyro 96 (talk) 11:17, August 6, 2012 (UTC)

Apparently, what you have here is an actual Hot Wheels vehicle, but released only in Japan in 2001, under the "Chara Wheels" brand name. It is a tie-in vehicle from the Gerry Anderson tv show "Thunderbirds." Hope this helps. As this is an actual Hot Wheels vehicle, we should have a page about it here on the wiki. HaarFager (talk) 12:42, August 6, 2012 (UTC)
Thank You, So This is a real hotwheel !? i were confused because not like hotwheel that manufactured by mattel this one manufactured by bandai so it has some sort of rubber for its body instead of plastic or metal like the usual one. Japan their always make everything THEIR style.... -_-. btw, is this vechicle pretty rare ? just wanna know... :P
IkiPyro 96 (talk) 11:04, August 7, 2012 (UTC)
I'm not sure of how rare it is. But, I'd have to say, being made only for the Japanese market and not the entire world, it probably had extremely limited production numbers. Oh, did you see the page I created and placed the picture of your submarine on it? It's called Charawheels. Click on the link and you can see the page. HaarFager (talk) 17:46, August 7, 2012 (UTC)

hi haarfager. i have been away for quite a while, but i have come back and was wondering if it might be possible to get an admin postion here. i have learned some basic coding and can definetly help out with spam. i have seen that there are not very many admins active here and was just hoping to help out. thanks a lot, 1:64 (talk) 04:03, November 6, 2012 (UTC)

I've discussed this matters with some other Administrators and we feel you don't need to be made an Administrator. Admin help moving page

Can you move 2012 treasure hunts series over top of 2012 Treasure Hunts Series (the latter is just a redirect to the 2012 list)? I tried to do it myself, but despite the text that indicates a redirect-only page with no history can be overwritten, it failed. The error page directed me to Hot_Wheels_Wiki:Administrators that has been deleted. Is there a page like that (to enlist admin help) already on the wiki? Also, can you look at Treasure hunt super brutalistic which seems to be out of place -- like it should have been added to Talk:Brutalistic (which I see now does not exist). --GargoyleMT (talk) 00:48, July 20, 2013 (UTC)

User Comment

Dear Kenny Harrelson: Thank you for your welcome to Wikia. It is very comforting to have a direct contact with someone who also loves Hot Weels. I just finished uploading some pictures of one of my favorite cars, the original Double Vision. For me to handle and analyze directly the cars is a great pleasure. I do not understand the new fashion to keep the cars in their original packaging and have them behind several layers of plastic, with the doubtful hope that they be valuable some day. Thanks again Kenny. I hope to contribute more often.Adeñatsac (talk) 06:03, October 12, 2013 (UTC) AdeñatsacAdeñatsac (talk) 06:03, October 12, 2013 (UTC).   Adeñatsac (talk) 06:03, October 12, 2013 (UTC) zarategreen@yahoo.comAdeñatsac (talk) 06:03, October 12, 2013 (UTC)

Dear Renato - you don't give me a link to your car. Besides, that is what the Hot Wheels Wiki is all about - users pitching in and adding their cars. Sorry, but I have a question. I think it would be nice to be an admin, and help the wiki more than a standard member can.  What would I have to do to become one?PatrickF1 (talk) 22:53, January 4, 2014 (UTC)

Don't be sorry at all! Help in what ways do you mean? Kenny HaarFager (talk) 03:34, January 5, 2014 (UTC)
The stuff like removing the HWC sneak pics (There's becoming more and more of those as time passes), and welcoming the other people to the wiki. good stuff like that.PatrickF1 (talk) 12:38, January 5, 2014 (UTC)
You can already do that. Anybody can do that, you don't need to be an Administrator to do things like that. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 18:40, January 6, 2014 (UTC)
I did not know that.  But something I do want to do is edit the community messages.  That message was the same for as long as Ican remeber.  Also, I,m a good artist.  As an admin, I could organize a designing contest.  I just want to leave the community a little better than I found it.PatrickF1 (talk) 21:55, January 6, 2014 (UTC)
You've got lots of good ideas - I think the community messages are editable by anybody. Also, your thoughts about organizing a designing contest are quite interesting! E-mail me with any thoughts you have about that and we'll see what we can do to get one going. Who knows, maybe Mattel will use our winning design and make an actual car out of it. That would be so cool! Kenny HaarFager (talk) 05:50, January 7, 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the compliment! Well, now I have another question. I know ther's SOMEthing that Admins can do that normal users can't.  What is that?  Also,  It would be very nice if Mattel used one of our designs.  I draw designs all the time.PatrickF1 (talk) 00:19, January 10, 2014 (UTC)
Administrators can block users and lock pages are two things that come to my mind. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 07:57, January 19, 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, that could be useful. There are becoming more and more vandals as time goes on.
Now, I read on wikianswers that different wikis have different guidelines to follow to become an admin.  I already know not to be a vandal, but what else is there?PatrickF1 (talk) 20:58, February 2, 2014 (UTC)

List Question

Hi, I'd like to insert extra lines in the tables for the list of 2013 Hot Wheels but I don't want to mess up everything.  I've compiled a more complete list, about 50% are not listed.  Do you have any suggestions?  Mr twindrive (talk) 04:27, April 22, 2014 (UTC)

Why would you need to add more lines to a table like this? The format has already been established and seems to work sufficiently well for the list by year tables. What are you wanting to add to the 2013 list that isn't in the previous lists? Kenny HaarFager (talk) 07:29, April 22, 2014 (UTC)
I love the format, everything is very clear and easy to see but since there are 2 or 3 items sharing the same colection #. it would seem logical to include all the items together.  This was not necessary in the previous years but it seems to be a                 problem starting in 2013.  The list as it stands for 2013 excludes at least 126 items.  For exemple, toys x1632 and x1862                 are both 1970 Toyota Celica, both are 1/250 but one is green and the other one yellow.  Not the same toy.  Do you have another way of including the missing items?  Richard Mr twindrive (talk) 00:23, April 23, 2014 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure that the yearly lists only show the first release. Any recolors are not necessary for that list. What you describe seems to just be a recolor. Hope this helps! Kenny HaarFager (talk) 04:02, April 23, 2014 (UTC)
Just out of curiosity, what is the purpose of the list you keep on the page?  Is it a point of reference for collectors curious to know the origins of the toy? When you consider that both versions are equally available and attractive it would seem to me that the list should at least include all the toy numbers and list the colors available.  Also, since most of the models used year after year are really just recolored for the next year, it makes it even more compeling to list everything since they are all part of the same basic lineup.  Don't you think? :) Richard Mr twindrive (talk) 05:22, April 23, 2014 (UTC)
The pages for each year's releases is primarily to show each vehicle that is released for that year. We're not interested in showing every single color of that release, only what the vehicle looks like so people can go through the list easier and quicker. Each vehicle's name is linked to it's separate page where you can see every version that has been released, including re-colors. What you are suggesting seems to sound like putting all the information for every car on every page. That would just slow down the yearly list pages. I hope I've explained it well enough, if not, feel free to ask me for further information and I'll try to provide it. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 09:16, April 25, 2014 (UTC)

Logo Update

Hey Kenny, don't you think it's time to update the Hot Wheels logo on the Wikia? I already did it to the scoop logo on the main page if you know what I mean. I can give you the photo though email if you want. But it's up to you. --So hot, so cool. (talk) 13:13, June 6, 2014 (UTC)

No, I don't think it's time to update it. I changed the Scoop logo back to the way it was because all you did was put a different version of the same Hot Wheels logo in it. One less detailed than the one it already had. Why does this new generation think everything has to be "updated" all the time? If it's not updated, therefore it's old and not as good? That is not true. Fire has been around for millenia and nobody feels the need to update it. If it works, and does the job it's supposed to, there is no need to keep changing things simply for change's sake. There is so much more that could be worked on than constantly changing the way things look. Thanks, anyway! Kenny HaarFager (talk) 23:10, June 7, 2014 (UTC)
I get your point. I just don't know why Mattel keeps changing the logo.--So hot, so cool. (talk) 22:41, June 8, 2014 (UTC)
I'm with you there! Mattel is always out to capture more share of the market, so they'll do whatever they think will help them attain that goal. But as far as us longtime Hot Wheels fans go, they already got us, so we can just stick with the classic logo and enjoy the cars. I'm proud to say that I'm a first generation Hot Wheels fan and had some of the first ones released in 1968! I wish I still had those! Thanks for helping, though! Kenny HaarFager (talk) 09:09, July 17, 2014 (UTC)

How do I change my photo file's name?--So hot, so cool. (talk) 11:51, July 14, 2014 (UTC)

I'm not sure which image you mean. I've been under the weather with a recent surgery, but sometimes when I can't figure out how to change a file's name, I just delete the old one and upload a new one with the exact name I need. That will work, if nothing else. Hope this helps in some way. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 09:11, July 17, 2014 (UTC)
Oh, and if you do just change the name and upload a new version, make sure you change the link to all pages that use that particular image. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 09:13, July 17, 2014 (UTC)

Thanks, that's what I meant in general. Sorry about that, I have been busy. I know it may be late now, but I hope you felt better after the Surgery--So hot, so cool. (talk) 22:45, August 9, 2014 (UTC)

Image Size

Hi Kenny,

I'm sorry if I've caused any problems.  I didn't realize there was a standard size for pictures. I started using 100 because it's a nice round number and seems to give the cars enough detail.  Let me know if you would like me to go back and adjust the image size.

Peter, I have already fixed that problem and it's correct now. Just try not to take it upon yourself to decide to change things like this. The Wiki will only work if everybody works together and follows the lead of who created it and how it was designed to work. There's a certain standard for everything and just follow what that is and it will remain a unified source of reference. Thanks! Kenny HaarFager (talk) 10:29, July 28, 2014 (UTC)

Unknown Versions

Hello, Kenny.

I have a question. Recently, I started checking my collection and found out, that I have at least 10-20 models made in versions that are not presented her, on wikia. I suggest I should take representable shoots of them and add as new version in "version" segment of the model's page. But the problem is I absolutely dunno anything about series, these versions are related to, so I guess I would have to leave "series" column empty. Am I thinking right about adding new versions?

The only problem with putting them in the table for that model's page, is that you don't know anything about the series or year that particular version was released, correct? Therefore, you wouldn't know exactly where to place it in the table that lists the various versions. I'd say put it in a Gallery below that page and maybe someone will recognize it and be able to correctly identify it. I mean, there is a page called South Texas Diecast that might at least tell you what year it came out and you could place it into the table that way, without using any of their information. Let me know which way works best for you. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 02:31, July 30, 2014 (UTC)

Parental Guidance

Hi there! My name is Ariana- I'm on the Community team over here at Wikia. I am reaching out to see if you and the other admins are OK with us creating a parent page for your wiki. A parent page is a go-to page for parents and adults to check out the age range for each wiki. Here is an example!

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Also, if you and the other admins want to help us fill it out- that would be great! Thanks so much, Asnow89 @ (profile)•(talk) 18:01, July 30, 2014 (UTC)

Just speaking for myself, I don't think this wiki needs one. Hot Wheels are for any and every age. I first was attracted to them at age 7 in 1968, and now I'm 53 and still like them. They appeal to children and adults alike. And we always keep everything clean around here. At least we try to keep it Rated G. We'll see what the other Administrators chime in with and then get a general consensus. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 05:28, July 31, 2014 (UTC)
Frankly, it seems like you've already decided to do this, so I don't know why you come along now and ask us about it. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 05:31, July 31, 2014 (UTC)

Hi HaarFager!

Well it's meant to be a guide for parents who might not fully understand the content of the Hot Wheels wiki. Even if it's rated G, that's something you can specify on the Parent Page!

It's entirely up to you. Let me know when you and the other admins have reached a consensus.

Thanks so much for getting back to me! Best, Asnow89 @ (profile)•(talk) 17:38, July 31, 2014 (UTC)

Need Help

Hi I'm new to wikia and I need to know how to edit a table like add a new column to it thanks!

Apparently the user named Reeceman777 asked this question, so I'll respond here. First off, if you'll sign your username to any queries like this, people will actually know who they're talking to. You can sign talk posts with four tildes HaarFager (talk) 21:27, September 1, 2014 (UTC) which automatically adds your username and a time/date stamp. As for the proper editing techniques, if you'll go to the homepage of the Hot Wheels Wiki, toward the top you'll find links for frequently asked questions ("FAQ"), and the "Editing Rules and Guidelines." This is the best place to start learning how to navigate around the wiki and how to make edits yourself. Let me know if you have any further questions. I have bit of a problem with one of my La Fasta cars, wiki says that La Fasta series started on 2009 http://hotwheels.wikia.com/wiki/La_Fasta and I have 2008 model in my collection. Is this possible and which one is mistake, wiki or the stamp on my La Fasta? It looks quite strange if I add 2008 model on model page which started on 2009 :) What should I do?

Dear Lasio: Hot Wheels always copyrights the cars the year before they are released. So, that's why yours says 2008 instead of 2009, when it was first released. They do this so nobody can steal their designs. Mind you, they don't seem to have any problems "appropriating" other people's ideas, though. Hope this helps. Just a few words

Hello HaarFager, I love coming to the Hot Wheels Wikia to see some of the images people post of their own Hot Wheels. It gives me a better idea of cars to go look for since there are alot of collector here in Southern California. I also post alot of my own images of the Pop Culture and Entertainment Series that i collect more of. I know it's not my place to say how the Year pages (like 2015) should look like, but I thought it was the (First to Market)and then in the (Car Name Page) the differant color variations. Also I've notice alot of copywright images are been post in the sight. I'm not trying to cause problem but nobody is saying anything any more.

Nerdo921 (talk)
If you could point out these images that are copyrighted, I will check into them. I need the web address where they can be found. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 06:36, May 20, 2015 (UTC)
Hello again HaarFager,
Thanks for reading my comment, i think the 2015 page looks alot better now with singal images. As far as the copywrite images, last year and the years before i would notice administrators getting on new editors about images being uploaded from Southtexasdiecast, HotWheelsNewsLetter and even Mattel. I'm not trying to get anybody in trouble but i love coming here to see the images from a differant view.
I hope you do not mind me not mentioning the pages.

Dear HaarFager,

Hello, and thanks for the nice message on my talk page! I have a question that I can't figure out. I added a bunch of new cars that just came out to some pages here. I have pictures for most of them too. I can't figure out how to add pictures to my edits. Can you show me how? Thanks!!! ℸℎℯℎℴℸωℎℯℯℓşℊμϒ99 (ℸαℓķ!) 21:01, August 26, 2015 (UTC)

Just go to any page that already has pictures on it and open the "edit this page" tab. Look for the line of code that has a picture in it and duplicate that code. That should be fairly easy. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 21:07, August 26, 2015 (UTC)
Ok. Thanks!! ℸℎℯℎℴℸωℎℯℯℓşℊμϒ99 (ℸαℓķ!) 18:19, August 31, 2015 (UTC

Photos that people don't own

Hello again. I am writing because of pictures I am seeing on this Wiki. I just added the delete tag to one (Rev Rod) that was owner and copyright by HWCollectors.com. Why are there so many of these pictures here? Should I add the delete tag to the ones that are owner by other websites? Cheers! ℸℎℯℎℴℸωℎℯℯℓşℊμϒ99 (ℸαℓķ!) 19:38, September 8, 2015 (UTC)

No, just send me a link to them and I will delete them. It's a lot less work for the Administrators to do it this way. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 21:36, September 8, 2015 (UTC)
The problem is...there are tons of them. Check out the Rev Rod Page (I saw you made an edit there so maybe you saw it). It would take me a while to link every single one I've seen. You know what I mean? You can see a difference in photos from a professional company that from somebody took here. Do you search for pages with the delete tag? If so, I can just tag the photos I see that are copyrighted so you can delete them. Cheers! ℸℎℯℎℴℸωℎℯℯℓşℊμϒ99 (ℸαℓķ!) 21:53, September 8, 2015 (UTC)
I don't search through the pages with the delete tag. Usually, if it's a page I've worked on before, and there have been a lot, I get an e-mail notification that the page has changed. Then I go and look at it and see if any of the changes need my attention. If it needs deleted, I look into it to see if, in fact, it does need deleted, then I get rid of it. I don't just delete pages because somebody says they need deleted. But, when somebody is using illegal pictures like you've pointed out, those need to be deleted as soon as we can. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 22:01, September 8, 2015 (UTC)
Ok. I get it. Too bad that it can't notify you when a page gets the delete tag. Is it only photos from HWcollectors.com that people can't upload or is it all other websites? Cheers! ℸℎℯℎℴℸωℎℯℯℓşℊμϒ99 (ℸαℓķ!) 22:07, September 8, 2015 (UTC)
If you didn't take the photograph yourself, it can't be used here on the Hot Wheels Wiki. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 22:13, September 8, 2015 (UTC)
Ok. I can send you a link if I see a picture that is watermarked with a website name (and if the user doesn't own the site) or if I recognize a picture from another website. I will admit I upladed some pictures I didn't own.I just stumbled across the Hot Wheels Wiki terms on photos a few days ago and realized what I had done. I can send a link to the photos to you ot you can look at my contribs. The Beach Bomb's, Wicket, Homer (in box), Family Car, Honda Prototype, and Porsche Prototype. I have permission from the maker of the 2016 cars to use them here...I am not sure if that is ok with you...? Cheers! ℸℎℯℎℴℸωℎℯℯℓşℊμϒ99 (ℸαℓķ!) 22:21, September 8, 2015 (UTC)
The maker of the 2016 cars is Mattel. I don't think they would let you use their images. They don't let anybody else. So, unless you took the pictures yourself or if somebody you know that did take the picture and has given you permission to use it here on the Hot Wheels Wiki, don't use it. If you can remember all the pictures you used that don't belong, don't give me the link, delete them yourself. It will allow me to do other work that needs to be done on here. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 22:29, September 8, 2015 (UTC)
Ok. I will delete the ones I stole myself. I mean the 2016 models in the box. I got permission to use them from an eBay user who took them and used the pictures to sell their 2016 cars. Cheers! ℸℎℯℎℴℸωℎℯℯℓşℊμϒ99 (ℸαℓķ!) 22:33, September 8, 2015 (UTC)
I clicked on the drpdown by "Edit this file," and it only showed "edit" and "replace..." ℸℎℯℎℴℸωℎℯℯℓşℊμϒ99 (ℸαℓķ!) 22:38, September 8, 2015 (UTC)
Okay, I see. Somebody else took the pictures and gave you permission to use them. That's okay. As far as deleting the pictures, go to the actual page the photograph is on and on the left side of the table with all the information about the upload, there is a link called "delete all." That should delete the image. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 22:46, September 8, 2015 (UTC)
The only ones I see are Date, Name, Thumbnail, Size, User, and Description. Are you sure that your way doesn't only work for admins? Cheers! ℸℎℯℎℴℸωℎℯℯℓşℊμϒ99 (ℸαℓķ!) 22:51, September 8, 2015 (UTC)
I'm confused... ℸℎℯℎℴℸωℎℯℯℓşℊμϒ99 (ℸαℓķ!) 00:31, September 9, 2015 (UTC)
This is what the typical photo page looks like for me. I have marked both the delete options that I spoke about - the delete tab at the top of the page and the delete all link in the little table. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 13:04, September 9, 2015 (UTC)
Woodie 1c.jpg

I don't see that. I think it is because you are an admin. Maybe only admins can see that. I'd think I'd be able to delete my own pictures though...I'll send you a screen shot in a while. ℸℎℯℎℴℸωℎℯℯℓşℊμϒ99 (ℸαℓķ!) 14:38, September 9, 2015 (UTC)
Here is what I am seeing:
Also...I recommend you check this out (It is a whole list of HWC cars that aren't allowed...): http://hotwheels.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Search?search=hwc&fulltext=Search&ns6=1
I understand tha those images are copied. But deleting them means that a lot of holes will come to exist in the tables and listst. The completeness of the wiki will be less.Stephan3321 (talk) 21:07, September 9, 2015 (UTC)
Why can't people just upload new ones that they took? ℸℎℯℎℴℸωℎℯℯℓşℊμϒ99 (ℸαℓķ!) 21:10, September 9, 2015 (UTC)
Maybe the people that are active on this wiki do not have those cars. I for instance do nog yet have my photo studio set up. So I did not have the chance yet to photograph the cars I own. But the other images are good place holders...
Even if they are good placeholders, they shouldn't be here. Read HwCollectors.com's policies. They say that the photos on their website are owned by them and not to be reproduced. This means that the people uploading are breaking Wikia's rules and HWCollectors's rules. ℸℎℯℎℴℸωℎℯℯℓşℊμϒ99 (ℸαℓķ!) 21:16, September 9, 2015 (UTC)
The reason we see different things is because you're using the new interface and I'm using the old interface, which is a lot better and has more options. You should go into your preferences and select the old interface. It makes editing a whole lot easier. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 17:55, September 10, 2015 (UTC)
Ok. Is there a way to switch back if I don't like it? ℸℎℯℎℴℸωℎℯℯℓşℊμϒ99 (ℸαℓķ!) 18:37, September 10, 2015 (UTC)
Yes, you can always go back into your preferences and change it back. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 18:43, September 10, 2015 (UTC)
Ok. I'll try it. ℸℎℯℎℴℸωℎℯℯℓşℊμϒ99 (ℸαℓķ!) 19:22, September 10, 2015 (UTC)
Which section would it be under? "editing" or "under the hood?" ℸℎℯℎℴℸωℎℯℯℓşℊμϒ99 (ℸαℓķ!) 19:26, September 10, 2015 (UTC)
Ok. This is very interesting...I like it this new way. Thanks for telling mw how to do it!! ℸℎℯℎℴℸωℎℯℯℓşℊμϒ99 (ℸαℓķ!) 19:30, September 10, 2015 (UTC)
You're welcome! Kenny HaarFager (talk) 19:48, September 10, 2015 (UTC)
Also... it still doesn't let me delete pictures. I think that only admins can. ℸℎℯℎℴℸωℎℯℯℓşℊμϒ99 (ℸαℓķ!) 14:21, September 11, 2015 (UTC)
One more thing: are we allowed to upload pictures from HotWheels.com? I saw that User:BigBadBrad01 was uploading pictures from there. ℸℎℯℎℴℸωℎℯℯℓşℊμϒ99 (ℸαℓķ!) 16:10, September 11, 2015 (UTC)
Can you provide a link to this? Kenny HaarFager (talk) 17:20, September 11, 2015 (UTC)
I'll look for one. Also...how do I find out how many contribs I've made? I think it is somewhere about 600...but it doesn't say anywhere. ℸℎℯℎℴℸωℎℯℯℓşℊμϒ99 (ℸαℓķ!) 22:49, September 13, 2015 (UTC)
Ok. It says he has permission to use them...anyways...are you there? ℸℎℯℎℴℸωℎℯℯℓşℊμϒ99 (ℸαℓķ!) 19:19, September 15, 2015 (UTC)
If you'll look on the left side of any page, you'll see a link that says "Special page." Click on that and it will take you to a page that has other links. Under the category that says "Users and rights," click on the link that says "Edit count." It will take you to a page that asks you to enter in your user name. Then it will list your edits all categorized. I found out that I've done over 6,000 edits here on the Hot Wheels wiki. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 19:50, September 15, 2015 (UTC)
Wow! I've made 656 (now 657) edits!!! Thanks! ℸℎℯℎℴℸωℎℯℯℓşℊμϒ99 (ℸαℓķ!) 20:41, September 15, 2015 (UTC)

Template Question

Hi, I want to improve a certain page with the exact template, but there is none that would look exactly like the one I'm hoping for. The question is there any way to add a new template page in the category page 'List Template'? UYScuti (talk) 03:16, September 11, 2015 (UTC)

What kind of template are you wanting? Maybe it already exists but you haven't found it yet. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 17:14, September 11, 2015 (UTC)
I want a list template that is green with black letters just like the real card itself to enhance the page a little bit. I'm just a meticulous person who takes stuff seriously such as editing on wiki. UYScuti (talk) 21:33, September 11, 2015 (UTC)
Then I would suggest you go to a page that features one whole year of Hot Wheels and look through the series sections and try to find one that has the color you need. Something like this section on the List of 2014 Hot Wheels page: http://hotwheels.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_2014_Hot_Wheels#Muscle_Mania Is that what you're looking for? Kenny HaarFager (talk) 22:12, September 11, 2015 (UTC)
I would usually prefer green template with black lettering and I've checked the lists of 'list template', but that's good enough for me, thanks for trying to help me. UYScuti (talk) 22:33, September 11, 2015 (UTC)
Hi, I can't find another template that has a gray color with black lettering. I went through all the template pages and the mainline. Do we need to create another template? UYScuti (talk) 02:48, September 28, 2015 (UTC)
You're saying you can't find a template already in use that has these colors? Then, why do we need one? Somewhere, it lists the code to use for each different color. Find those and then customize what you need, it should be pretty easy. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 07:41, September 28, 2015 (UTC)

Separate Pages

Hey Kenny, I was wondering why some cars have separate pages for releases of the same castings. For example the 1970 release of the Porsche 917 is on a separate page to the 1973 and another from the 1976+, when there was no changes to the casting. Or why the Captain America release of the Hot Bird is not included on the Hot Bird page or the Lightning Gold not on the Malibu Gran Prix. Is there a reason for this? Is it so people can search for the name of the car easier? Should all the same releases of the same casting be on the same page regardless of name changes? Thanks. Reece Reeceracing (talk) 02:46, September 17, 2015 (UTC)

I think that, no matter how many times Mattel releases a vehicle and however many names it may go under, it should all be collected up on the original casting's page. Now, what you're seeing may be re-releases that went under a different name and somebody didn't know it was the same casting and created a page for it. I think that's all right, too, as long as there is a direct link toward the top of the page that tells about the casting's original release name or what other names it went under. Such as the Letter Getter page. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 03:35, September 17, 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply. I totally agree. Should the other releases be added to the original release's page if it's not included on it? Thanks. ReeceReeceracing (talk) 04:00, September 17, 2015 (UTC)
Yes, just create a new table with that release's name below the original release's table and that way users can see other versions of the same car, no matter what name Mattel saw fit to release them under. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 22:20, September 17, 2015 (UTC)

Hello again!! I would like to report some one to you. User:Xavierzeck has been uploading photos he doesn't own like crazy. I just got up and he's already uploaded two this morning! He posted a hotwheels.com photo he uploaded on the Tee'd Off 2 page. I have warned him twice before and don't know what else to do and don't want him to keep spamming this Wiki with photos he doesn't own. ᵗʰᵉʰºᵗʷʰᵉᵉˡˢᵍᵘʸ₉₉ (ᵗᵃˡᵏ!) • (ͨºⁿᵗʳ'ᵇˢ) • (Special:Editcount/Thehotwheelsguy99 + ᵉᵈ'ᵗˢ!) 12:29, October 9, 2015 (UTC)

I personally don't think we should apply that rule to drawings. What is I scanned the card and posted that picture; that would be somewhat the same except it would be my picture. Hot Wheels releases the drawings to the public, unwatermarked. I think it's a bit over-the-top to refuse them. They are an official Hot Wheels product after all. Stephan3321 (talk) 14:10, October 9, 2015 (UTC)
But they still are property of Mattel. ᵗʰᵉʰºᵗʷʰᵉᵉˡˢᵍᵘʸ₉₉ (ᵗᵃˡᵏ!) • (ͨºⁿᵗʳ'ᵇˢ) • (Special:Editcount/Thehotwheelsguy99 + ᵉᵈ'ᵗˢ!) 15:52, October 9, 2015 (UTC)
That's true, but personally I thinks it's one step too far. But let's HaarFager decide about that. Stephan3321 (talk) 15:56, October 9, 2015 (UTC)
That's why I asked him... ᵗʰᵉʰºᵗʷʰᵉᵉˡˢᵍᵘʸ₉₉ (ᵗᵃˡᵏ!) • (ͨºⁿᵗʳ'ᵇˢ) • (Special:Editcount/Thehotwheelsguy99 + ᵉᵈ'ᵗˢ!) 15:57, October 9, 2015 (UTC)
HaarFager could you respond to this quite important question? Stephan3321 (talk) 13:11, October 19, 2015 (UTC)
I would ask, exactly where does Mattel release these images to the public? Can you give me a link? And does it say they're free for downloading and to use somewhere at this link? Kenny HaarFager (talk) 09:00, October 21, 2015 (UTC)
For instance: http://www.hotwheels.com/en-us/collection/DHY02_Datsun%20510%20Wagon. The images are not watermarked. And the Terms and Conditions only tell you what to do if your images are on their site. Maybe if we need permission from Mattel, we can ask HWC Gary? Stephan3321 (talk) 09:10, October 21, 2015 (UTC)
Well, if they don't specifically say they can be used free of charge, then copyright law covers the rest and we probably shouldn't use them. If Mattel signs off on this somewhere, then we could use them. But, until then, maybe we should not use them until we find out. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 09:24, October 21, 2015 (UTC)
Thanks HaarFager!! ᵗʰᵉʰºᵗʷʰᵉᵉˡˢᵍᵘʸ₉₉ (ᵗᵃˡᵏ!) • (ͨºⁿᵗʳ'ᵇˢ) • (Special:Editcount/Thehotwheelsguy99 + ᵉᵈ'ᵗˢ!) 13:20, October 21, 2015 (UTC)
"HWC Gary, there is a question flowing through this Wiki: is it legal to use the drawed images of models, as they appear on http://www.hotwheels.com/en-us/collection/index.html for instance. Are we allowed to use those images or will that infringe the copyright? Could you shine some light on that since you're an official Mattel employee. Stephan3321 (talk) 09:30, October 21, 2015 (UTC)
It probably depends on what you use them for, but I don't think anyone's going to complain if you use them here on the Wiki. But I could be wrong. That's more a question for the legal department. But I see them on here, and I haven't heard any objections.
Could you ask that for me? Or do you know an email address where I can reach them. I think that those specific drawing would be nice on the wiki. Stephan3321 (talk) 15:00, October 21, 2015 (UTC)
If you use them, the worst thing that can happen is they ask you to remove them. They haven't asked that so far, so I'd use them until I heard otherwise." Stephan3321 (talk) 17:33, October 21, 2015 (UTC)

Email Confirmation (Yellow Pop-up Window)

There's a yellow pop-up window that tells me to confirm my email address, so I went in and confirm my address. After about an hour, the pop-up window shows up again and I repeated to confirm my email address and it kept on popping up after repeating this 3 times. I know that this is my email address but how can I get rid of this pop-up window? UYScuti (talk) 05:33, October 12, 2015 (UTC)

That's a good question. I wouldn't know what to do about it except, have you cleared your cache? If that doesn't work, Try going to higher ups at the main wiki level. It could be a glitch. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 08:54, October 21, 2015 (UTC)

AMX/2 / Xploder / Road Torch / Redliner

Hey Kenny, I was wondering if the pages for AMX/2, Xploder, Road Torch and Redliner should be combined as they are essentially the same car, with the latter two having the rear hatch cast shut. Thanks. Reece Reeceracing (talk) 03:57, December 16, 2015 (UTC)

I think we can continue doing it the way it's always been done here. And that is, to leave each car with it's own page for when people want to look up that name; while also noting the other names the casting has been released under with links to those pages. Then, whichever casting was the first to be released, list that car and then create new tables below the main table and say what casting name it was also known as. That way, either way a user wants to look that vehicle up, they can find out all they want to know, whichever page they start with. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 22:54, December 16, 2015 (UTC)
Sounds like a great idea. Thanks! Reece. Reeceracing (talk) 03:00, December 17, 2015 (UTC)

My Chevy Impala

I have a '65 impala from 2015, but on the bottom of the car, it says " Made in Malaysia, Copyright 1996, 14 Mattel." Why does it say it's made in 1996, when it's from 2016? I just bought it at the store, and I have looked it up and clarified on the web it is from 2015.

I don't know who you are, because you didn't say your name. But, you answered your own question. It doesn't say it's made in 1996. You said it yourself - it was "copyrighted" in 1996. The version you have was released in 2016. That doesn't necessarily mean it's the first version Hot Wheels ever released. Most likely, the first version came out in 1997. Thank You

Dear Kenny, I am very sorry you felt my edits were vandalism, requiring undoing and blocking. Had I known you had such strong emotional ties to the things you created, I would have left them alone. I can’t help wonder though, why, with such strong emotional ties to those categories, didn’t you follow through by creating the category pages for those categories, so they would should up in the category “Hot Wheels by Series”? I see that you created the Combat Ambulance page in 2008. Those categories, in my eyes were not in the format used previously for mainline segment series, and I was working at bringing them all inline with the way the Flying colors, Grand Prix, Heavyweights and others were setup. But if I now have to review every page to see if I might offend you in the future, well that’s just too much work for me, so you won’t have to worry about undoing anymore of my edits. I almost wasn’t going to come back, but decided your public actions needed a reply from me. Because without accusation, without question, without defense, you convicted me of vandalism and meted out your punishment. I don’t like playing with dictatorial, vindictive and inconsiderate people like you. What makes it worse? You failed to take into account the value of my previous edits when you condemned my work as vandalism. You make playing here not fun anymore. WikiWoman62 (talk) 15:51, June 27, 2017 (UTC)

Look. You have it all wrong. I feel that categories are not really that helpful on the Hot Wheels Wiki. But - others do, and when the Hot Wheels Wiki was created, they were a part of it, so I will continue to hold up for other's rights to create and add categories. As an administrator, that's what I have to do, by definition of an administrator. There are a few users on here that create categories and there are users that keep deleting categories that others have created and then add new ones in place of the ones they deleted. This seems like everybody that is working with categories are going round and round - creating and deleting. To me, this seems pointless. Do YOU or ANYONE else think I just do stuff because I WANT to!!!!???? No. It's my DUTY as an administrator to keep the direction of this wiki going in the manner it was created. Here's an example of what I mean: Someone creates a category of say, "Pontiac." Another person will come along and delete that category and in it's place add "Pontiac Cars." Another user will come along and add "Pontiac Trucks." And still another user will come along and delete the categories "Pontiac Cars" and "Pontiac Trucks" and in their place create the category "Pontiac Vehicles." If you people would just stop worrying so much over categories, it would be a lot better. I never use categories, but I think there might be some people who do, so that's why I fight to keep them on. In your particular case, you deleted some categories and I spent a half hour looking around to see if they were used elsewhere and that the type of category they were had also been used in that manner before. I spent time out of MY LIFE to check on these things before I DID ANYTHING. Can you comprehend that!!??? I don't use categories much myself, but still I have to spend my VALUABLE TIME making sure other users have used them correctly. I would much rather spend my VALUABLE TIME taking pictures of cars or creating pages for new releases than to have to BABYSIT other user's edits ALL THE TIME. I spend MOST of my time here on the Hot Wheels Wiki undoing edits from users who insert pictures into the tables as "THUMBNAILS" instead of doing it the proper way. THAT GETS REALLY TIRESOME. So, if you don't like the fact that the person who created this wiki made me an ADMINISTRATOR and charged me with upholding the direction of the wiki and keep it in focus, well, then maybe you ought to leave. Because we don't need people like you here on the wiki that is not really doing things the right way and have nothing better to do than squabble and fight amongst themselves over creating and deleting categories. Kenny. Admistrator. HaarFager (talk) 15:25, June 28, 2017 (UTC)
And now to respond directly to everything you said -
"Dear Kenny, I am very sorry you felt my edits were vandalism, requiring undoing and blocking. Had I known you had such strong emotional ties to the things you created, I would have left them alone."
I did not create them, and as such, can have no emotional ties to them. I am only trying to keep the focus of this wiki on the way it was created.
"I can’t help wonder though, why, with such strong emotional ties to those categories, didn’t you follow through by creating the category pages for those categories, so they would should up in the category “Hot Wheels by Series”?"
I do NOT have strong emotional ties to anything on here, can you get that into your head!? Or are you just blind to reality and want to cry and moan because I undid one of your edits? That's what it seems like to me. I don't really use categories that much and don't know what you're talking about. If you know how to do it, why didn't you just do it instead of crying about something I did? Just why are you here on this wiki anyway? To add to the database in the manner it was designed to be or just do what you want, irrespective of whether or not it fits the prescribed standard way of doing things?
"I see that you created the Combat Ambulance page in 2008."
Yes. I have created many pages. I've made more edits on the Hot Wheels Wiki than almost anybody else, except for a few users who have made more. I enjoy Hot Wheels and have done so since 1968.
"Those categories, in my eyes were not in the format used previously for mainline segment series, and I was working at bringing them all inline with the way the Flying colors, Grand Prix, Heavyweights and others were setup."
Well then, why didn't you just fix them and make them right? You have the power to edit the wiki when you join. Why complain about things instead of just fixing them? Is anyone perfect? No.
"But if I now have to review every page to see if I might offend you in the future, well that’s just too much work for me, so you won’t have to worry about undoing anymore of my edits."
You only have to review every page you work on to make sure you didn't make any errors. The same thing everybody else should be doing. I have to review ALL MY EDITS and EVERYBODY ELSE'S edits on here to make sure the focus of the Hot Wheels Wiki stays in line with what the creator of it intended. No more, no less.
"I almost wasn’t going to come back, but decided your public actions needed a reply from me."
I'm glad you did, because that shows you're a mature adult.
"Because without accusation, without question, without defense, you convicted me of vandalism and meted out your punishment."
I wasn't made an administrator to accuse people. I was made an administrator to see that the Hot Wheels Wiki stays true to the concept it was created to be. What would you consider it when someone such as an administrator comes along and undoes an edit some other user made? Do you really think I don't have the best interest of the Hot Wheels Wiki in mind? Yes, I blocked you for undoing one of my edits that I made to fix somebody else's error. I have the power and the duty to do that.
"I don’t like playing with dictatorial, vindictive and inconsiderate people like you."
If you consider my doing my duty as an administrator as being "dictatorial," then you must feel there are 10 dictators on the Hot Wheels Wiki, because that's how many administrators there are. Do you consider my fixing other user's errors so that they conform with the standard of the Hot Wheels Wiki as being vindictive? If so, you need to grow up. And if you consider my fixing other user's errors as being inconsiderate, then maybe you're right and the Hot Wheels Wiki isn't the place you should be. If your feelings can be hurt that easily when I correct one of your errors, then that's something you're going to have to address on your own and get over it. Feelings aren't something that has a place here on the Hot Wheels Wiki - just factual information about the cars.
"What makes it worse? You failed to take into account the value of my previous edits when you condemned my work as vandalism."
I did not fail to take into account your previous edits. I've had to caution you several times before on your edits - that proves I took them into account. Plus I spent time checking into what was going on before I did anything in this particular situation. Did you take into account that time I spent checking up on other people's edits before I did my duty as an administrator, before you blasted me as a "dictator?" Apparently not. In my opinion, that's pretty dictatorial of you.
"You make playing here not fun anymore."
Well, if you want to play around and not take this online database for Hot Wheels seriously, like I do, then goodbye. Maybe the Hot Wheels Wiki doesn't need users like you. Administrator Kenny HaarFager (talk) 16:12, June 28, 2017 (UTC)

Should Fanwork be allowed on this wikia?

Hi Kenny I moved the Edge page to my wikia called the Hot Wheels Fan Club Wikia Because I don't think pages like these shoud be on this wikia. That's like if I posted Double Rainboom on the MLP Wikia. What do you think? Update: here's the link on where I've moved it http://hot-wheels-fan-club.wikia.com/wiki/AcceleRacers_5:_The_Edge SweetsixteenII (talk) 21:38, October 6, 2017 (UTC)

I've been thinking about this for a while now, and it's a tough question to answer. If there is any fan-made content, I think it just goes to show how much people really love the entire Hot Wheels experience. Perhaps if we just had one single page on the Hot Wheels Wiki devoted to things of this sort, it would separate it from the official Mattel items and show that people really love Hot Wheels enough to make something of their own to be part of the experience. I see actual Hot Wheels vehicles that have been customized by fans and as long as they're not trying to be passed off as legitimate releases, I don't find anything wrong with that. So I ask you, how about one single page where this kind of stuff can be collected here on the Hot Wheels Wiki? What are your thoughts on that? Kenny HaarFager (talk) 16:39, October 10, 2017 (UTC)

Hello/Bonjour sir. Just to confirm, What information does the wikia officially consider "Superfluous" or unnecessary? The reason I ask is because I added a tiny fact about the Porsche 934.5 regarding the value of the real car and my edit was immediately undone by User: This is a Test 86 under the premise and I quote : "Stop adding incessant, superfluous info.". I as you know am familiar with the Editing Rules and Guidelines and further the Hot Wheels Wiki: Administrators says "Administrators should use their administrative powers to settle editing disputes - someone has to make sure things stay true to it's intended purpose. Administrative powers should be used to help keep the wiki clear of vandalism, spam and users who make malicious edits.". My edits weren't deliberate sabotage, they were simply stating a fact. Secondly, I get the feeling like User: This is a test 86 won't respond to my message if I tried discussing this with him, as since an argument, he has left 3 of my messages for advice unresponded to. Can you please help me with this? Thank you for your time. 二千十七年十一月二日星期四--JDM My Ride (talk) 21:02, November 2, 2017 (UTC)

Well, stuff about the real cars is kind of superfluous. It takes up server space, when the only cars we're primarily concerned about is Hot Wheels. That's what he meant. HaarFager (talk) 08:31, November 3, 2017 (UTC)
But the page still fell within the unofficial (not yet written into the Editing Rules and Guidelines) rule on one-paragraph descriptions. I added one fact (one I found after a quick search to cure some curiosity about the Porsche 934.5's monetary value) and I found from Hemmings Motor News a chart with auction values. With said information I added in the simple fact after the sentence pertaining to the rarity of the real car (which is actually stated in the card-back description below the table) I figured it wouldn't hurt to add said info on the grounds that 'if it makes you curious, don't leave them hanging', so I stated the Porsche 934.5's value. As there is little to say about the casting and it is a direct portrayal of a obscure racer and the description still falls under the 'One-paragraph' unwritten rule, was I really doing anything wrong?

二千十七年十二月二日星期五--JDM My Ride (talk) 14:12, November 3, 2017 (UTC)

Does anybody really do anything that is wrong? People can justify anything. Is murder wrong? Should Adolph Hitler had been killed as a child to prevent him from killing all those millions of people? Is stealing wrong? What if your family is starving and you stole a loaf of bread? I guess nobody knows the answers to these questions. I personally think that we should try to keep our focus more on the Hot Wheels cars, rather than the cars that inspired them. But what does my opinion matter? Not much, apparently these days. The guidelines are just that, something trying to guide us what to do, not state specifically what we should do. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 21:48, November 3, 2017 (UTC)
I've been trying to explain the focus should have always be on the Hot Wheels itself, but certain people like to constantly put random/incessant/superfluous facts about the real cars. They for some reason want this wiki to be about the real cars and try to write massive walls of text about the real cars. People can easily look up info about the real cars on wikipedia or autopedia. The small blurb about the Porsche 934.5 from the Hot Wheels packaging itself does a concise job of explaining the car. This is a test 86 (talk) 13:07, November 4, 2017 (UTC)
You previously said that this wikia should emulate the Matchbox wikia in terms of style and feel, but a lot of the descriptions on that site are written like a advertisement for the cars and yet you don't go in there and remove all that? Don't those promo-style descriptions count in your mind as "superfluous" and "incessant" as well? And another thing, though I have a belief that this doesn't at all apply to you because you don't seem to understand this concept (only those who have this know it) I have a long-running passion for all things motorsport and Automotive. A lot of the time, there is little to say about the casting itself aside from the obvious, it's a Hot Wheels car and where it's made. I only edit the pages for the castings I own or are planning on obtaining and those cars tend to be ones with a certain amount of historical automotive industry influence. Now on a typical basis, this is my go-to source of information for both the castings and occasionally a tiny bit on the real car, so I can judge whether it was something I really would want in my collection. There are other collectors out there who do the same rest assured, but since some castings come in liveries based off iconic real-life cars, such as the first edition '73 BMW 3.0 CSL which debuted in the livery of the ETCC-winning CSL from 1973. Don't you think that could be added to a page? User: Stephen3321 used the logic of "Hot Wheels could come in any colour of the rainbow" when I mentioned that the First Edition Time Attaxi casting debuted in Hong Kong Taxi Livery. So, I shifted that kind of thing to Trivia notes at the footer of the tables. Again, back to the cars vs the castings, some collectors will collect cars only because of the cars they portray. Some just want to collect what's iconic and there are tons of others. My Point is, some collectors may just be using the wiki for both the real cars and the castings' info. Don't you think this overly aggressive stance of yours is going to push away people from the wiki? I can agree with the vast walls of info, yes people don't need to post the compression ratio and some of the less interesting and not-so-outstanding technical data.(Leave that stuff for the mechanics). My point is, unless a rule (A WRITTEN Rule) is being broken, then who is to say that adding some small snipbits the card-backs which are written like mini-adverts left out is violating any rules, regulations, etc.?

二千十七年十一月四日星期六 --JDM My Ride (talk) 17:15, November 4, 2017 (UTC)

You don't get it, do you? This is the Hot Wheels wikia, meaning focusing on Hot Wheels. You are confusing it with autopedia. There is no reason to duplicate all that info on a wikia about toys. In this day of high technology, a person is a click away from googling whatever real cars they want to learn about. Your justification is based on conjecture about what some people use/don't use the site for. This is a test 86 (talk) 16:58, November 8, 2017 (UTC)
I am not by any means confusing this site . If this "rule" about the info on real cars is with any merit, then why aren't you dismantling every description containing any trace of information on the real car? Secondly, since you mentioned focus of the wiki, administrators as that is their job, the f6c4s yes being Hot Wheels, but however you didn't delete the entire Porsche 934.5 Description, even though it contained information you called quote unquote "superfluous" Why? Rather, why not? With all due respect, if this wiki's focus is strictly Hot Wheels, than why are you the ONLY Admin to confront me on this matter? Haarfaager,Stephen 3321, BigBadBrad, etc. have never men mentioned it not even once. Also, remember all those Wikipedia plagiarized descriptions I removed last year, pretty much for a week straight? I was removing tons of irrelevant info, but in it's place aren't we allowed even such a few sentences to give a brief overview?

--JDM My Ride (talk) 01:52, November 9, 2017 (UTC) 二千十七年十一月八星期三

This has been discussed previously on Stephan's talk page. Bigbadbrad agreed any description should be limited to a couple sentences. Go check Stephan's talk history on April 12, 2017. He conveniently deleted all discussion about it from his talk page because I'm assuming he didn't like what was said. He has a bad habit of doing that. This is a test 86 (talk) 21:07, November 10, 2017 (UTC)
JDM, you said: "Don't you think this overly aggressive stance of yours is going to push away people from the wiki?" I am an administrator, and as such, I don't believe I have an "overly aggressive stance." All I do is try to keep it focused on what it was created to be. I people come along later and think this wiki should have a different focus, then maybe this isn't the place for them and they should create their own wiki with the focus on what they want it to be. They have that power and right. Just like the person who created this wiki had the power and the right to create it like he wanted it to be. The sooner people understand that, the better off it will be. And it could be argued that anything I could possibly do could, potentially, push people away. So, does that mean I shouldn't do anything at all? JDM - things you're doing could potentially push people away. Do I think you are pushing people away? No, but it could argued that way. Potentially and factually are two different things. Until things become factually happening, lets just keep on doing things in the manner the wiki was created to be. JDM, how old are you? "I have a long-running passion for all things motorsport and Automotive." That's easy to say, and I could say it as well. I've loved Hot Wheels since 1968 and automobiles since before that. If your passion counts for something, shouldn't my passion count as well? To address an issue you mentioned, you said: "unless a rule (A WRITTEN Rule) is being broken." Well, there isn't a specific rule that says you can't create a page for a polka-dotted chicken. So does that mean it wouldn't be breaking the rules if one was created here on the Hot Wheels Wiki? It's the spirit of the thing that has to be maintained, not just what is spelled out in black and white. I hope these words helps somebody, or my time and efforts have been wasted. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 10:30, November 11, 2017 (UTC)
HaarFager, the reason I am pushing for that rule to be entered into the rules and guidelines is because say a New user comes in and adds a sentence about the Nissan Skyline being expensive and doesn't know there is the paragraph rule. Then Admin A comes in and tells him not to do such. For said user it would have been nice to know the paragraph rule, right? So said little spat between admin and user has been averted. This is a Test 86, that conversation you cited is 98% of why I am refuting your claim on that one sentence being deleted. I am also quite unnerved that this is coming up 2 years after I joined the wiki and most of my edits pertain to adding information to descriptions. This is almost comparable to when my school's Lunch supervisor told me to wait until 12:35 when the Middle-Years students (my school goes from Grades 5 to 12 and Grades 5-8 are considered Junior years) were gone to cook my lunch. Now, this came around after a whole semester of me cooking my lunch when I got back from the supermarket Uptown. It would have been nice to have known when I first started going to get instant noodles for lunch to wait. Why am I mentioning this? Well, it would have been nice to know that adding extra info to descriptions was an issue and I am quite displeased that it has only cropped up after 2 years. I won't ask for either of you to apologise for anything, I won't even ask for Test to revert the edit on the sentence, I just want to know why is this an issue now after so long.
Anyways, HaarFager, your passion does count, as it is the same as mine, I may be young, but the reason I am here arguing is because my passion has inadvertently hit a barrier, that is the rules. I thought after that conversation about the length of Descriptions that surely someone would put it in the rules for future new users to see and know exactly what is and isn't the default on this wiki. As for Passion, let me put it this way:
The three of us all Love Hot Wheels (and one of us Corgi Juniors) and we wouldn't be interested in Hot Wheels if we weren't even slightly interested in the real cars (that some castings portray). That is why we are all here, yes?
Lastly, the reason I added that sentence is because I wrote the description for the Porsche 934.5 and I felt because the last sentence cited rarity and rarity tends to equal value, I wrote one simple sentence regarding the vale on the real car to tie up that loose end. And in closing, as a compromise and to make this so that we all are happy, why not insert a section at the bottom of the page for internal links to Autopedia or any other applicable resource for the enthusiasts? That way the info is moved from the descriptions to a few links (say 4 maximum) so that everyone's happy? Just a thought so we can skirt around this argument in the future.

--JDM My Ride (talk) 04:06, November 12, 2017 (UTC)二千十七年十一月十一日星期六

No, I don't think so. Not everything needs to be spoonfed. Google exists for a reason. If they want to look up info on a real car they can search for it. This is a test 86 (talk) 16:53, November 12, 2017 (UTC)
I think, ultimately, that this wiki is primarily for Hot Wheels. Not auto enthusiasts. It's nice that you like autos, but we should keep the focus on Hot Wheels. I think it's understood that they're based on real cars a lot of the time. As an example, there have been a few castings that had bicycles as part of the vehicle. Should we also cater to fans of say the Tour de France as well? Let's just try to keep it friendly and focused on Hot Wheels. Bonjour. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 17:57, November 14, 2017 (UTC)
That's why I suggested the links to the other sites, that way the wiki remains focused on Hot Wheels and that way eliminates the need for descriptions that will just end up deleted. If the real car info is placed where enthusiasts can see the link, they won't feel the need to put said info on the page. 二千十七年十一月十五日星期三--JDM My Ride (talk) 22:33, November 15, 2017 (UTC)
Externals links are not needed. Search engines exist and are easy to use to find all sorts of automotive information. No one said to do away with descriptions completely. Limit them to a couple sentences. You should be able to state your point concisely in order to not overshadow the Hot Wheels car being discussed. Enable Discussions?

Hi there HaarFager! I noticed that your community was not yet using Discussions, our Forum feature replacement we developed for our communities last year. We realize your community does not currently use Special:Forums but please consider allowing us to enable Discussions anyway, as it provides more benefits to your community than it's predecessor. We have already switched all new communities to Discussions and are manually enabling it on established communities who are interested in having the feature available for their users.

Discussions is a feature that users can use to post questions, thoughts, images, links and even videos. They can upvote posts and even share them on social media. Users can edit their posts for the first 24 hours, but Admins and Moderators can edit posts anytime. Users can report posts they feel do not comply with our guidelines, or that of the community. Admins and Moderators can remove them. We give you the tools you need to monitor reported posts and users that report them. Since the introduction of Discussions, we have seen a pretty big increase in community interaction. You can find more information on Discussions here.

Let me know if your community would like to have Discussions enabled on the community and the app. I would be happy to take care of it for you. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.Jamie (profile)•(talk) 20:20, January 4, 2018 (UTC)

What the heck are you talking about? We have discussions all the time on here. Perhaps you never heard of a "talk page?" Kenny HaarFager (talk) 03:05, January 6, 2018 (UTC)
If you click at the links above you will see that this is a mobile-friendly tool that we've been working on. Talk pages are not mobile friendly. Jamie (profile)•(talk) 23:36, January 17, 2018 (UTC)
Not mobile friendly? Well, that's just too bad. I don't have a cell-phone and do not need one. Let people use their computers at home when they have time to edit. Not when they're away from home, taking care of other business. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 23:26, January 20, 2018 (UTC)

Second Colours on New Models pages.

Should the 'Second Colors' be included in the 2018 New Models page? It makes it quite confusing when there are multiple versions of the one car on the New Models page. There have been multiple colours of the same car in the New Models/First Editions series since the late 90's/early 00's but it has always been the first colour that gets included on the list. I know it is because now because they are have separate col#, I think they should appear on the page but not in the same table as the first colour. Should a second table be created for subsequent colours of the same car, ie second, third etc. So have the top table '2018 New Models' and then 'Second/Third Colors' ? What do you think? Reeceracing (talk) 01:05, March 8, 2018 (UTC)

It's also being added to the mainline, and all the lists are really confusing. I think they should get removed too, but the 2017 and 2018 1-365 lists can keep the second colors.Rws0704 (talk) 01:27, March 8, 2018 (UTC)
Any new models page should just have the very first release shown. That's why the name of the vehicle is a hyperlink so that if people wish to see other versions or colors, they can use the handy link and go see them. But, the new model pages should just show one image for each model. Showing all the different colors is what each model's page is for. And if there are pages that show more than one color, they are in error. Whenever I've come across this, I have removed all images but the first version. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 01:42, March 8, 2018 (UTC)
Ok, the first colour on the New Model page and that's it. I'll remove the second colours when I can, or if anyone else wants to, the 2017 New Modelsand 2018 New Models pages need to be revised. Thanks for the reply. --Reeceracing (talk) 01:58, March 8, 2018 (UTC)

can you help me find out what this logo is because I don't think it's a treasure hunt my few guesses is that "hot wheels" made a new type of treasure hunt vehicle.

I accidentally forgot to put "LordTrieza (talk) 14:12, June 1, 2018 (UTC)" sorry for that I sent you a picture of a logo which I found on the bottom of my hot wheels car and I forgot to mention I have another one. From LordTrieza (talk) 14:12, June 1, 2018 (UTC)

did I win?

Have you finally conceded defeat? Did I hit the nail on the head? Did hurt your feelings?

I don't know what this hot wheels car is is it real or fake?

is the hot wheels car real or fake?

New target Released from the mix L

Hi Kenny, I add the corrected of 2018 Mainline Series information that I found on Mattel website from target. The event will be will be arrived on June 16th. Thanks! Tin –– Tich3e (talk) 5:10 pm, June 10, 2018 (UTC)

I thought you would have figured it out by now.

I wanted to mention to whoever the lord protector is, that there sems to be a dyslexia scamp running loose in the wiki. I have come across a growing number of simple errors in the listings. numbers/letters being reversed in the model codes, or incorrect information in the listings all together. I have a car in my hand which I am listing on my website and I use the wiki as a source of information to verify what I have. Sometimes the color is wrong for the vehicle, and many times it is conflicting with the photo that has been posted. Someone should get on top of this situation before it really gets messy. Many of the errors seem silly mistakes, but then if we don't police postings a little bit we may find the database is going to be way off in some time. Just food for thought... 0ldgeezer (talk) 18:10, December 24, 2018 (UTC)
