Description[]

The Vega Bomb is a Hot Wheels casting designed by Larry Wood which was first released in the 1975 Flying Colors Series. It is a Funny Car based on a Chevy Vega and features an opening body to reveal the roll-cage interior and engine. It saw a few versions released domestically, and several hard-to-find versions internationally including France, Italy and Japan (Red Box #53). It hasn't been seen since 1983.

Notes[]

  • The Vega Bomb actually uses the same base as the Snake and Mongoose from 1970.
  • The Vega Bomb is one of a few castings from the 'Flying Colors' which could be found with the early style 'Capped' Redline wheels. Harder to find than the 'axel through' style wheels, it could be found with the 'Capped' wheels on either the front or even harder to find; the rear. There is rumored to exist a very hard to find version where all four wheels are 'Capped' although this hasn't been confirmed.
