Description
The Volvo 850 estate was a station wagon made by Volvo between 1992-1997. It is front engined, front wheel drive, with a 2.0L or 2.5L engine, with a 4 speed auto or 5 speed manual. More specifically, the Hot Wheels casting depicts a 1994-1995 model, featuring the post-1994 facelifted front bumper and lacking the rear lip spoiler featured on 1996-onwards Volvo 850 models. This casting is issued in Right-hand drive (RHD).
This Volvo is very loosely based on the race winning British Touring Car Championship Car (BTCC), which competed on an equal basis, and was very successful too, there was a rumour that went around the paddock, which stated that Volvo got the requirements wrong, and they thought it was Tourer so that's why they entered the Estate, however that was not true, they were the first to realise that the longer roof of the Estate would give it a better ground hugging drive, and made it so fast around corners, they ran it for a while and replaced it with the S60 for subsequent years.
