The Zip Rippers logo

Zip Rippers was a line of three-wheeled 1:64 scaled Hot Wheels vehicles who's main gimmick was each vehicle having a ripcord that could be used with the vehicle to push them off at powerful speeds. The line which was under the HW RACE banner lasted from 2015 to 2016 and was quietly discontinued after it's two year run, most likely due to poor sales and distribution.

Vehicle Characteristics[]

Zip Rippers Vehicles

Many vehicles from the line.

The main characteristics of Zip Ripper vehicles was their massive single back rubber wheel that was almost the size of Monster Truck wheels from the time. These wheels where the ones that active during the time the ripcord is pulled from the vehicle in question, the two front wheels where one of the most early examples of the skinny HSRW wheel type being used in a HW toyline most likely due to the wheel making vehicles much faster then vehicles with wheels of normal thickness.

Each Vehicle from the line was a hole area where the ripcord could be place on the left side in the vehicle and with a simple strong pull the vehicle in question would activate the play feature that the line of known for.

Track Set[]

The Rip Up Raceway was a medium sized straight trackset which was only released in 2015. The set was very simple with having three obstacles the vehicle must go through being a single loop, adjustable jump and a specialized track piece that was meant to represent the vehicle ripping up the pavement road. This was done via switches on the piece that triggers the action. The set was list under the HW RACE banner during it's short time of store shelves and could connect to sets with Track Builder connection points. This was also notable for being one of the first sets to use orange tall wall track pieces.
